Why did Jim DeMint give the NHGOP $100k?
WMUR ^ | 10/20/10 | James Pindell

Conservative South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to eight state Republican committees over the last three months, which begs the question of who he is trying to help: the candidates he endorsed or his own ambitions.

According to his campaign finance report DeMint gave $100,000 to the New Hampshire Republican State Committee in what appears to be an attempt to bolster Ovide Lamontagne, the candidate he backed in the U.S. Senate primary given that he also gave to states where he had a Senate candidate he endorsed.

Yet any time a prominent politician gives that kind of money to a New Hampshire political party it creates questions as to whether or not he is thinking about a run for president.

'Cause he's gonna run for the 2012 nomination. And likely win it.

I have no problem with Jim running for anything he wants.

I don’t particularly care why, whether it was entirely self-interest that happens to help the country, patriotism that happens to help his campaign chances, or a combination. In any case, I approve of this message.

... which begs the question of who he is trying to help: the candidates he endorsed or his own ambitions.

Would that be true for all contributions then? From all politicians, committees, PACs, etc.? What about individuals?

Or, does the question only apply to DeMint?

If DeMint runs in 2012, he’s my candidate.

I'd work my fingers to the bone for him were he to run, but unfortunately I think he has other plans.

He’ll certainly be near the top of my list, if not #1

Why did Jim DeMint give the NHGOP $100k?

Three guesses.

New Hampshire needs to have their first in the nation primary status revoked and their primary closed. NH democrats revived McCain’s moribund campaign, and now look where we are...

He’d be Palin’s worst nightmare as an opponent, that’s for sure.

That’s why they are worried at the prospect over at worship central. They know their right flank is very vulnerable.

Geez, DeMint...$100K to NHRINO??? These are the dirtbags that sabotaged conservative Jennifer Horn’s campaign by recruiting another conservative (Guida) to run in the GOP primary; enabling RINO retread Charlie Bass to sneak thru to victory. Now we have pro-abortion Bass running against pro-abortion and Planned Parenthood darling Anne (’the Butcher’) Kuster. Color me disappointed, Jim...

No. The big concern at Worship Central is Duncan Hunter, Sr.

They, along with Palin, undercut the conservative in the Senate primary as well - who was DeMint’s guy. So I can see no other good reason to give $$ except to make some allies for a run.

That’s odd. Over at Hunter Central they are supporting DeMint. And several other rock-ribbers. Over at worship central, they are busy kneecapping Bachmann on someone’s Bachmann for president thread.
