I am sick of his constant use of the word “folks”. There are several uses for the word but this online definition seems to be what he means.

When told that many of the city's population had taken refuge in the tunnels to get away from the fighting, Hitler condemned these people as cowards. If Germany was to go down in defeat and the Fuhrer was to die, then the German people ought to die with him. The tunnels were flooded and thousands perished.
