Do they not recycle anything??? I thought other countries were way better than the US on every single thing. Which is why The One wants us to become like them.
So fire their asses and replace them with immigrants and they won't have to worry about working until 62.
Just for accuracy’s sake I think they are raising the retirement age for government workers to 62 and private sector workers to 67.

Nah, they are just revolting at any time. ;-)
I remember when the streets of Manhattan/NYC looked just like that, back in the late fall of 1971 due to yet another in a string of garbage strikes.
That, of course, was well before the days of Giuliani and his clean-up of Manhattan.
NYC in the 60’s under Lindsay. I was a kid but the stink is still a memorey.
Frog heaven .
I’d love to see Sarcozy fire all the strikers and call in replacement workers - from Germany. For extra effect, they could drive into France through the Ardennes Forest.
From wiki-
That same year, 1968, also saw a three day Broadway strike, as well as a nine day sanitation strike.[14] Quality of life in New York reached a nadir during the sanitation strike, as mounds of garbage caught fire and strong winds whirled the filth through the streets.[15] With the schools shut down, the police engaged in a slowdown, firefighters threatening job actions, the city awash in garbage, and racial and religious tensions breaking to the surface, Lindsay later called the last six months of 1968 “the worst of my public life.”[1]
“I’ll say. They stink on ice!”
Imagine ‘68 being worse than what I saw in NYC in the early seventies! Leave it to wiki to point that out.
The crises in NYC went on for years and crime was worse than ever, too. People were too afraid to walk a couple of blocks back to hotels from theater district after performances, unless they walked in huge groups. I was there.............I experienced it all — from ‘69 into early seventies.
I understand there are exceptions for some who work heavy duty jobs...but they aren’t reporting this.
I was 15 in 69. lived through it all.
If we could airlift a few million Mexicans to France, two problems would be taken care of.
And so are the peasants!
France rioted in 86 as well..so far this does not look nearly as bad as then. Their unions are very powerful and effective in France...and the “revolt” is of thier doing more than anyone elses. Still, doesn’t take much for France’s populace to get riled up when their Gov. acts on most anything.
It looks like the pizza joint across the street is doing a little better.
This all seems pretty pointless, as it is abundantly clear that whoever runs against Sarkozy in the next French election is going to walk away with 93% of the vote, so long as he promises to roll back the retirement age.
