Skip to comments. Why is Karl Rove taking shots at Sarah Palin and Christine O'Donnell?
Posted on 10/28/2010 10:50:36 AM PDT by WebFocus
Karl Rove, Republican political strategist and the general behind George Bush's presidential victories, has been taking pot shots at some conservative favorites.
His latest target, former Alaska governor and Tea Party darling, Sara Palin.
Palin, Mr. Rove told Britain's The Daily Telegraph, lacked the "gravitas" to be president in 2012.
He dissed her new Alaska reality series as a bad political move.
With all due candour, appearing on your own reality show on the Discovery Channel, I am not certain how that fits in the American calculus of 'that helps me see you in the Oval Office, Rove told the Telegraph.
QUIZ: How well do you know Sarah Palin? Take the quiz
Sarah Palin has been an influential player in the midterm elections, traveling and speaking around the United States and endorsing a range of candidates, often the same candidates endorsed by the Tea Party movement. But Palin has not declared herself a candidate in the 2012 presidential election.
How serious is this conservative rift between Rove and Palin?
Rove's views often represent the Republican establishment. And he's got a reputation for knowing how to win. George W. Bush called him "The Architect" of Bush's gubernatorial and presidential victories. Rove also guided the successful campaigns of several governors and members of Congress.
But he's critical of some of the Tea Party-backed candidates endorsed by Palin, including Christine O'Donnell in the Delaware Senate race.
He's not a fan.
Ive met her. I wasnt frankly impressed by her abilities as a candidate, Rove said on Fox News last month. One thing that ODonnell is now going to have to answer in the general election that she didn't in the primary is her own checkered background.
There were a lot of nutty things she has been saying that don't add up, Rove added.

Hey, Karl! What’s the difference between Palin and your man, Bush, when he first ran for President when it comes to “gravitas”?
Tokyo Rove is just getting pissy because Palin and O’Donnell are both better men than he is,... better conservatives, too.
rove is an emasculated male , just like obummer. basically you could say that Rove is very very afraid of
Palin, O’Donnell. Seems Rove has a problem with women - he is a misogynist
when ya start believing your own enemies’ hype, of what a golden child you were, it tends to lift folks feet from beneath them .. then they fall to earth , flat on their mortal keesters.. if they’re lucky. ;-]
Because Karl is a putz...
Can’t recall him ever backing a woman. For all his good points, I think he may have some “issues” in that department.
Rove should follow “The Eleventh Commandment.”
I suspect he may already have been hired by a GOP hopeful for 2012 and is doing some ground work trying to discredit opponents, starting with Sarah Palin.
Possibly he is saying this because every time he does the coffers for both women fill.
Yes, he is that devious and clever. Muahahahhahha
TRUE !! We are FINALLY finding our way
It will be sweet if Christine O’D wins.
Concur. He is on the “re-tread” bandwagon, continually bringing back Newt and Karl.
I’ve faded away
Follow the money trail with Rove. Wherever he is getting paid and it would not surprise me a bit if he is getting paid by Romney.
I am just glad this guy is exposing who he really is.
Rove is looking for relevance in all the wrong places.
If we were to open his political casket, we would find the blood stained clawing marks of a desperate man.
Perhaps Rove simply hates women because of some midlife awakening of his own confused sexual identity.
Has Rove turned queer? Has Rove devolved to little more than a short pudgy and frustrated faggot bitch, destined to tapping the restroom floors of airports across America?
Tap, tap, tap—Karl, is that you?
The “architect” of the 2006 GOP disaster is afraid of girls.
“Then why is Obama himself attacking him?”
just an old habit thats *nothing* but a sop to the ignorant wing of Obama Leftists, who fantasize that Ceney, Bush and Rove were “conservaive”, and not moderates,,,
Are you really looking for substance, or rational thought, in the actions of Obama? Seriously??
“I suspect he may already have been hired by a GOP hopeful for 2012”
If that is true I bet you won’t hear any confirmation from either Rove or the GOP hopeful.
1. Because they had the audacity to begin a grassroots movement and didn't consult him.
2. Once political consultants join "think tanks" and get on network TV, they get "liberalized" in an attempt to increase their audience.
Jeez, four years ago he was a magnificent bastard. Now he’s a socialist?
O’Donnell continues to display that she is not ready for Prime time. If she wins on Tuesday, expect us to gain 130 seats because the Dems are staying home.
And not everyone is enthralled with Sarah. I agree that she has the base excited. But I do not think she has what it takes to win the big one.
I agree with the poster that said that Rove is looking at the BIG picture. We need huge coattails next time. Sarah will not bring those. She can help—but she probably would not be able to win on her own.
If she is the nominee, I would vote for her. I just don’t see her getting through that process.
“2006 GOP disaster”
You mean the the GOP Majority that was to have lasted decades?
Because they tell him to “man up” and he can’t?
“We need huge coattails next time”
You develop coat-tails by helping others win elections.
Have you heard much about other “hopefuls” out there helping the GOP win seats this election cycle? If you have, give me a few examples. The rest of the “hopefuls” seem to be in hiding.
“What the heck did she do to him to earn this?”
Be against the RINO establishment, and not bribe him with employment. Or maybe defeat many candidates Rove LOVES with her endorsement. Take your pick,,,
Yep, Rove is right. Can you just imagine Ronald Reagan appearing in a television series? Especially a western series. A western series called "Death Valley Days". No way, that would just be unpresidential. Mr Rove is starting to wear his welcome out with me.
Rove is a progressive like Teddy Rooseveldt..
I choked on this first part of your statement but agree with the second part. :-) LOL!
"Rove spends most of his energy fighting his own political base, and helping the Democrats. Hes a symbol of everything thats wrong with the GOP."
And not JUST the ratings, where she will be seen by millions of Americans and potential voters: it will be seen that this is a TRAVEL type show, NOT a “reality show”; and she WILL look Presidential with gravitas gravitating from her gorgeous glamorous self.
because Rove has no career future in a GOP that is dominated by the Tea Party
“because Rove has no career future in a GOP that is dominated by the Tea Party”
Got that right!
Rove is afraid of being shown up by real conservatism.
Because if they both succeed, Carl Rove will become irrelevent.
Rove blew it. I think he’s finished.
Rove and Bush are and always were part of the machine. The machines of both parties have no intention of actually changing anything fundamentally. Window dressing to try and distract and appease the rank and file is their main goal.
The growth of the Federal Government hasn’t stopped under the GOP machine, I refuse to delude myself into thinking the GOP machine will do anything different until the grass roots makes the change themselves.
Palin needs to say just one word and the Rove balloon deflates: LOSER.
Like Gingrich, Rove needs to find another life—whether he can or not. His time, for what it was worth, has come and gone.
Maybe you haven’t noticed, but Onada, his band of angry commies and media propaganda organs are attacking anything that moves—to include voters. That doesn’t qualify Rove as being “important”—just visible.
Not to mention likely doubling or even tripling the number of vacationers that will be traveling to Alaska next year after seeing Palin’s show.
I love that. Best laugh of the day.
Sean is equally complicit!
On WABC in NYC, Sean just came on the radio to promo his own show as Rush's show was ending. Guess who Sean is having on to defend himself for some negative comments he made in Germany about the Tea Party?
That's right, Tokyo Rove.
I repeat my question. Why does Sean continually give this traitor a platform? If he didn't have Sean, where would Tokyo Rove find an outlet?
This, to me, makes Sean equally as complicit as Tokyo Rove.
I like the analogy of Reagan and his 20-mule-team Borax commercials. Clearly, Reagan did not have gravitas, right, Carl?
What a shill - the questions is, for whom?
Snake vs. President Mongoose.
Glad I could help.... although the hyperventilation on this thread is pretty funny, too.
