**URGENT** The Eagle- Gunman spotted on Texas A&M campus. Students being told to seek shelter immediately.
Not just Laura but her father-in-law GHWBush 41 and wife Barbara are also supposed to be there right now for an exhibit opening at his library (about a mile from Rudder Tower where the possible gunman is being sought.)
Prayers up. Hopefully this is a false alarm.
the teacher along with several others returned fire until the police could make it up the stairs and finish him off.
The Bushes have an apartment at his Presidential library adjacent to campus, and they are there frequently. It’s not unusual to see him on campus or at the Bush School.
OMG- this is serious and hugh.
Wow, armed gunmen are the worst kind of gunmen.
***The incident happened at the Brighton Park Apartments at 51st and Yale ****
Woah! That is close to where my daughter lives, and is not a bad area!
Im sure it was just an AK-74 and not the AK-47 Assualt Rifle Machine Gun.
I love a happy ending.
but it was two Austin police officers who finally made their way onto the Texas Tower observation deck and shot Whitman.
I believe it was ONE policeman and one armed civilian who cornered Whitman.
They had two incidents in as many days.
“TULSA, Okla. (UPI) A woman shot two intruders breaking into her Tulsa, Okla., home killing one and critically wounding another, police officials say.
Thursdays alleged home invasion in which the woman shot Darreon Carter, 18, and Daniel Holman, 23 was Tulsas second such incident in as many days, the Tulsa World reported Friday.
Police Capt. Travis Yates said the woman whose name was not reported was walking back to her Brighton Park apartment about 3:50 a.m. after going to a fast-food restaurant when Carter and Holman allegedly forced their way inside, demanding money.
The woman cooperated until one alleged intruder told her to undress, when she pulled a revolver from her purse and shot him, the newspaper said.
We believe that this was totally an opportunity crime, Yates said. Somebody saw a woman walking up to an apartment, and they decided to commit a crime, and here we are.
Carter and Holman who were both shot in the head were found by police in the apartments entryway and taken to St. Francis Hospital, where Carter died. Holman was in critical condition with bullet wounds to his head and stomach, the World reported.”
There are no “accidents” when gunmen on campus are involved.
We know who was targeted!
Prayers for all to be safe!
Update: Person who apparently prompted Texas A&M alert is detained, source says - NBC
Yes I believe you are right. I remember watching the movie they made about this as well, and remember seeing a cop and armed civillian going up the tower at the end.
Just now on local news..5:04..no one detained at this time.
Wonder if HIS name is Mohammed or Tariq or Fazal or Abdul. You know the typical amish names.
see post 62, it happened twice in two days.
USABreakingNews (Texas A&M Update) NBC News- Person who was reportedly carrying AK-47-style rifle and prompted a campus-wide alert has been detained.
I think it’s funny that the Glock is in the AK-47 column
What nutcase decides deer season at A&M is the time or the place to cause problems? The Marines and rednecks will have this dude dancing like a marionette they’ll be pumping so many rounds in him.
“There was a rumor of a tumor”
BreakingNews Update: Gun ‘suspect’ is member of Texas A&M Corps of Cadets (similar to ROTC) who was walking with his rifle - NBC
Who was it up thread that called it this way?
me. Aggie 93. People who are afraid of camo and guns should never go to A&M.

The Civilian was played by Ned Beaty (Boy, can you squeel like a pig?).

Open Carry Hysteria????
What happens when someone brings a firearm concealed in a guitar case, no one will know much of anything until the guy is setup and shooting innocent people.
Meanwhile the medai’s irational fear of firearms is actively fermenting in everyone’s minds.
You would think EVERYONE in and around College Station would KNOW about the Corps of Cadets.
This may turn into an Aggie joke if some student or the campus cops reported a Corps member going about his business.
Doesn’t sound like the media had anything to do with this, other than reporting the Code Maroon, which is generated by campus officials.
George, Laura and Barbara Bush are at their apartment at the Presidential Library.
Might be the reason for jumpiness.
It was a good childhood friend’s cousin that was the one that got him. Officer Martinez
My son was class of ‘93!
The Corps of Cadets is NOT similar to ROTC. The Corps is like a smaller version of West Point, the Naval Academy, etc... The Corps provides more officers the military than anwhere save the official academies. I wasn’t in the Corps, but I totally respect their dedication.
Are there any who aren't?
"All Clear. Person with replica weapon identified. No danger. Resume normal activity. 5:34 "
Except that they’re there a lot.
I know that when my kids were there (13 years straight), they saw Pres. Bush I regularly, working out at the rec, crossing the street, etc. There are many high-profile political figures who come to the Bush School of Government and Public Service.
One time when we were there during W’s Presidency, we saw a parking lot full of shieks in full sheets. That might have been the Abdullah visit mentioned in his new book. World leaders would often come to A&M before going to Crawford — made for some really interesting lectures.
I'm guessing it was a "drill rifle" like this?
A&M provides students some amazing opportunities.
A&M sounds all clear after report of gunman

UPDATE 5:34 p.m.:
Texas A&M University issued an all clear following a report from a campus bus driver of an armed person in the Rudder Tower area.
Person with replica weapon identified. No danger. Resume normal activity, A&M said on its website.
We believe it was a Texas A&M student, said university spokesman Jason Cook. I cannot confirm it was a member of the Corps of Cadets at this time.
