me. Aggie 93. People who are afraid of camo and guns should never go to A&M.

*** I remember watching the movie they made about this as well, and remember seeing a cop and armed civillian going up the tower at the end.****

The Civilian was played by Ned Beaty (Boy, can you squeel like a pig?).

Open Carry Hysteria????

What happens when someone brings a firearm concealed in a guitar case, no one will know much of anything until the guy is setup and shooting innocent people.

Meanwhile the medai’s irational fear of firearms is actively fermenting in everyone’s minds.

You would think EVERYONE in and around College Station would KNOW about the Corps of Cadets.

Well, duh.

This may turn into an Aggie joke if some student or the campus cops reported a Corps member going about his business.

Doesn’t sound like the media had anything to do with this, other than reporting the Code Maroon, which is generated by campus officials.

George, Laura and Barbara Bush are at their apartment at the Presidential Library.

Might be the reason for jumpiness.

The Corps of Cadets is NOT similar to ROTC. The Corps is like a smaller version of West Point, the Naval Academy, etc... The Corps provides more officers the military than anwhere save the official academies. I wasn’t in the Corps, but I totally respect their dedication.

Except that they’re there a lot.

I know that when my kids were there (13 years straight), they saw Pres. Bush I regularly, working out at the rec, crossing the street, etc. There are many high-profile political figures who come to the Bush School of Government and Public Service.

One time when we were there during W’s Presidency, we saw a parking lot full of shieks in full sheets. That might have been the Abdullah visit mentioned in his new book. World leaders would often come to A&M before going to Crawford — made for some really interesting lectures.

A&M sounds all clear after report of gunman
By AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF | Thursday, October 28, 2010, 04:51 PM

UPDATE 5:34 p.m.:

Texas A&M University issued an “all clear” following a report from a campus bus driver of an armed person in the Rudder Tower area.

“Person with replica weapon identified. No danger. Resume normal activity,” A&M said on its website.

“We believe it was a Texas A&M student,” said university spokesman Jason Cook. “I cannot confirm it was a member of the Corps of Cadets at this time.”
