Stunning

The Vatican has called for Israel to end its occupation of "Arab lands," noting that all of what we define currently as Israel is "Arab land."

That the Bible must not be used to justify either their ‘occupation' nor their ‘injustices' against Palestinians.

"The Holy Scriptures cannot be used to justify the return of Jews to Israel and the displacement of the Palestinians, to justify the occupation by Israel of Palestinian lands," Monsignor Cyril Salim Bustros, Greek Melkite archbishop of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Boston, Massachusetts, and president of the "Commission for the Message," said at Saturday's Vatican press conference.

"We Christians cannot speak of the ‘promised land' as an exclusive right for a privileged Jewish people. This promise was nullified by Christ. There is no longer a chosen people - all men and women of all countries have become the chosen people."

You've just been witness to a significant event in the End Times unfolding, amigo. The Vatican stating that Israel is "no longer a chosen people".

The Vatican has just nullified the Bible, and elevated Replacement Theology in full public view.

This is .... stunning.

It’s beyond stunning. I’m more confounded and shocked every day by the seemingly universal betrayal, and condemnation, of Israel. Do you think it’s because of who occupies our white house, that he’s setting the tone for the rest of the world’s stance?

This is extremely Bad.

Pray and receive your answer. It is a lack of basic understanding or faith that drives.

No joke - our own Govt. is complicit in this, too. What other country on earth is treated this way? Israel is a sovereign nation with all the rights and responsibilities that go with such status. How dare the Vatican or George Bush or Barry Soetoro deny its right to exist and to defend itself. My blood is boiling....

In their “Appeal to the International Community” the bishops expressed “hopes that the two-state solution becomes a reality and not only a dream.”

A Judenfrei Israel. That's their dream. No one in their right mind still believes in a "two state solution" or "land for peace."

It is easy to be brave with other people’s lives. It is like blaming those in Nazi Death Camps because they didn’t prevent their own exterminations. Christians in the Middle East have been living in a Muslim concentration camp, for 1000 to 1300 years, during which time they went from over 90% to less than 10% of the population.

“It is the statement of a Synod of Catholic Bishops from the Middle East, meeting in the Vatican, at the invitation of the Pope, who did not participate in or control its deliberations or proclaim its results.”

Okay, guess that’s a small comfort. Bht when, then, will the POPE speak on this??? When will he take a stand on something so fundamental?

They want to blame the Jews for their predicament. The Muslims are in the process of forcing all Arab Christians out of their countries. My guess is that this is the reason why the Vatican opposed the war in Iraq. They guessed that the United States would do nothing to protect Christians and that it would stir up the Arab hornet’s nest, which has been growing and growing since the First World War. The formerly Christian state of Lebanon has been destroyed. Within a few years, Christians will be rare everywhere in the Middle East, maybe even in Egypt.

Clinton, George W Bush both were working diligently to bring Israel to its knees -Obama is just making it worse. I remember when Condaleeza Rice was SOS, she said that the new Palestinian country needed to be on contiguous land, which meant further carving up Israel to accomplish that. I am afraid that Bubba, W, and Barry are all cut from the same cloth when it comes to Israel. Who do they all take their marching orders from? Who keeps the money flowing? Whose hand was George holding and who was Barry bowing to? The End Times do seem very near.

Good question. The Pope invites then, then doesn't participate. What's up with that?

“How very brave these arab bishops are.”

Nowadays, what’s brave is to be openly Christian and stand up for Israel.

Israel is "no longer a chosen people".

Blame the Jews.

VATICAN CITY (RNS) A special Vatican meeting on the Middle East ended Saturday (Oct. 23) with a flare-up in Catholic-Jewish tensions, after an American bishop declared the Bible does not give Jews privileged rights to the land of Israel. "There is no longer a chosen people -- all men and women of all countries have become the chosen people." (Archbishop Cyril Bustros, a native of Lebanon who is currently a Melkite Greek Catholic bishop in Newton Mass.)

Cyril Salim Bustros is from Lebanon and has ties to Hizbollah. I’m ashamed of American Spectator.

John 4:22
Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

Salvation is of the Jews. NOT WAS, IS.

The Pope’s position is that no one should be killed in war, and that the Jewish people are the people of the covenant. Did you expect him to support one side in a war, when the Vatican did not officially take sides in WWI or WWII?

For more information why do you not ping some of the more informed Catholic Freepers, who certainly could not recognize this subject from the thread title. I will ping one here.

I hear you. I pray we CAN resist the New World Order and not “go gently into that good night.” We’ve already put a few delays/obstacles they hadn’t planned on along the way, thus far.

Think we can yet have at least one decent president?
