The citizens of Virginia will soon be able to express their support for smaller government and protest the Federal Government's intrusion into the affairs of private citizens with their license plates. At the recent Virginia Tea Party convention, 912 Richmond, gathered over 475 signatures in support of the issuance of a special license plate bearing the legend DON'T TREAD ON ME..it is now a BILL for the General Assembly

We need one of these in NH... Although ours already say, “Live Free or Die” which the liberals hate (and want to remove).

It’s probably a pretty fair bet that the dyke in HS will be monitoring the situation and adding names to ‘her list’ of extremist, radical, prolifer, constitutional conservative, terrorists.

You'll know the revolution was successful when license plates are generic, costing $10/year, and we're debating whether to do away with them entirely.

Give the tax paying peons some stickers for their fridge and some new cool license plates...That’ll shut these morons up....Then raise the fees...The idiots will be so happy, they won’t notice

To: SERKIT
Thanks for focusing, SERKIT. That's precisely why I won't be ordering one for my vehicle. The DMV system here already automatically alerts police during routine traffic stops that you're a CCW permit holder. Couple that with a “Gadsen” registration, and I suspect there's going to be some tragic encounters in the near future. When the smoke clears, the local papers will be sure to point those things out while describing your residence as a “compound.” ‘Nuff said?

I would love a plate to have “In God We Trust” imprinted on it. That would really state my convictions, and would remind all of what our Forefathers believed was most important when this country was founded.

You're statement is bizarre at best. ...You're suggesting your going to use and *pay* government for a "banner", proclaiming you want smaller government...The over paid corrupt in government must be laughing hysterically.
Reminds me of that Barnum and Baily saying....Or what that guy said in the ape movie....

I like the plate. Normally, I would not to have anything to do with the VA DMV even if I lived in VA but I would love those plates !

As awesome as the “Don’t Tread On Me” is as a historic symbol with present day relevance, Virginia already has an even more awesome state flag and seal - “Sic Semper Tyrannus” which is today an even more relevant symbol of what befalls those who attempt to exercise dominion over us.
If you only want to say “leave me alone or you’ll regret it” to your government, by all means go with “Don’t Tread on Me”
If you want to say, “Mess with me and you’re dead”, I’d stick with the Seal of the Old Dominion.

Our older Alaska plates are the same color, I would LOVE to have a plate with my Gadsden flag on it. I have an idea of a license plate clear cover that has the flag on it, but the trick is that its florescent and one of my license plate lights is actually an ultraviolet LED.

I made a slight but contemporary change to the proposed license plate. While Ben Franklin had it right, a newer phrase comes to mind...
