He's getting a little hyperbolic there, but that's okay.

I wish we had a Republican candidate like Rubio in CA. According to latest polls, he is up 14-17 points.

I wish Marco Rubio was as conservative as he plays on the campaign trail. We in Florida have seen him in action as speaker of the fee raising house.

FL will be the Dem's biggest wipe-out. The early voting numbers are catastrophic for them. Rubio will win by more the 20%.

I saw Rubio speak and I expected to feel positive about him because I liked his positions on the issues. However, I ended up feeling not just positive but really enthusiastic: he is an excellent speaker, quick on his feet, witty but not sarcastic, knows his issues thoroughly, addresses his audience with respect for their intelligence, and is probably one of the best political speakers I have heard. Or seen - he doesn’t have any bizarre mannerisms and is not nervous.

Oh - and he doesn’t use a teleprompter, either!

Agreed. He is Mel Martinez 2. Much much better than insane and pathetic Crisp or Meek but there are dozens of better conservatives.

Rubio is too much like McCain on the border.

Better fees than taxes. It’s much easier to reverse something like that and people also have a much better idea of where their money is going (and what they should object to!).

And he does seem to be aiming at reducing the thing that generates the need for so much revenue: the bureaucracy and the ever-expanding government.

He is Mel Martinez 2

Uh, yeah. In the end, just another professional Hispanic, only hides it better.

Won't say it's the best Floriduh can do, but then again...

Look forward to the mask coming off during the first Univision post victory interview.

I agreee Rubio is important, but O’Donnell is needed to block the lame duck session of congress. That being the case, strategically she is more important at this juncture than any other senate seat.

I agree I am excited about Rubio race as well.

The race I am most anticipating this election season is John Spratt vs Mick Mulvaney. I hope this year isn't a “throw the bums out...but not my bum.” I have been working the phone banks and there is so much anger at Washington that we can clean house and Sack Spratt this year.

Unfortunately you are probably right. Florida has such crap running in the RINO GOP. Most gringos and old time Floridians do not trust the guy at all. Miami is like Chicago south to a salsa beat. Rick Sanchez came from there. He is also Jeb and Bush family guy like the disappear Mel Martinez.

Just so people think we are not hispanic bashing, I really liked Gov Bob Martinez but his family had been in America quite a while. He gave FL the CCW and got a lot of crap for it too. He was not perfect but he was pretty good. I just do not want any person putting their ethnic group ahead of the general public.

I don’t believe he’s too conservative on illegal immigration either.

Nope. He a slightly better version of Mel Martinez 2. We have been burned before in FL. Some of us made call for idiot Martinez who disappeared in the middle of the night.

A governor with a set of stones could do incredible things!

The governor is, after all, the sovereign of a separate political entity. The states banded together voluntarily to form the federal government. The feds did not create the states.

With the federal monster now running wild, it is incumbent upon the states to bring their creation to heel. Just how hard they yank on the leash is the choice of each state governor.

So, just how conservative is Rubio ... really?

That must be the charisma the author is talking about. Did you get a tingle up your leg? Just kidding!!

Some people are talking about Rubio running for president in 2012. What a ridiculous idea. A junior senator with less than two years in office running for president. /s

Even more satisfying to me is defeat of Charlie Crist.
I also hope Murkowski goes down in AK. I hate sore losers.
