Democrats in Pennsylvania have spent all day hyping reports of higher-than-expected turnout in Philadelphia and other blue strongholds.
But less than an hour before polls close, we're getting other estimates, and they paint to a more difficult path for Democratic Rep. Joe Sestak in his Senate race against Republican Pat Toomey.
The poll-watching group Committee of Seventy says only a couple wards in Philly have so far reported turnout exceeding 30 percent a far cry from predictions by city Democratic Party boss Bob Brady that turnout would surpass the 2006 election.

Inner city Philly stayed home.
Toomey is down by 86,000 votes. Is there any way he can pull this out? Seems really doubtful.
CNN is calling it for Toomey per Newsmax web site.
Good news since it’s Politico that’s pouring cold water on Dem hopes.
I’m hoping against hope, but my state is full of idiots.
Sestak campaigned in Philly and the other cities. Dems don’t need the common folks’ vote in PA.
Doesn’t look too hopeful right now....
Fox has him down significantly.
First time I have ever said this, I hope CNN is right!
You got a link for that?
Link please.
How’s the PA Governor race looking?
Weren’t the most recent polls showing him up by several points?
I haven’t seen any voting results for the PA race. Do you have any numbers to support the reports of his victory?
Not good at 9:15:
SESTAK, JOE (DEM)
361,160 59.0%
TOOMEY, PAT (REP)
250,688 41.0%
Those numbers are coming in from Chester and Delaware counties which are heavy for Sestak. The rest of the state minus Philly is for Toomey.
Fox has Sestak ahead.
It was a blurb over at Newsmax.com: http://www.newsmax.com/Politics/toomey-sestak-Pennsylvania-toomey/2010/11/02/id/375753
Saying Toomey 51% Sestak 49%
One station called for Corbett (R).
Holding my breath watching the Toomey race here.
We need this one...Giannoulis looking strong.
Yes. THere’s not many of the suburbs counted in those numbers yet. He’ll do it.
You have to understand the vote totals change based on the precincts reporting in. Those numbers were from heavily Dem populated areas. Too soon to call but I think Toomey wins this with the Governor called for the Republican already.
This is looking real bad for Toomy, he is now trailing by over 100,000 votes with over 35% of the polls reporting.....
Two democrats, as far as I’m concerned.
Wow, he’s pulling a Santorum.

This link has live results.
Toomey has been trailing Corbett’s percentage by 4 percentage points since the returns started to come in. At 9:36 with 41% counted, Corbett has pulled even with Onorato, but Toomey is still 4 points back of Sestak.
Hopefully, Philly reported early and the rest of the Commonwealth will provide the margin of victory for Toomey as well.
Major vote fraud in Philly?
Rendell would see to that, I’m sure.
Really! Cool..
Kirk (Specter/Jeffords/Chafee) must lose.
You’re right, if Philly isn’t all in already it will be tough for Toomey to find the voltes. I heard he and Sestak are tied in Bucks COunty. Not good.
Well, Fox has Fitzpatrick currently beating Murphy (which is Bucks/philly suburbs area) so that should bode well for Toomey. Fingers crossed he can beat the margin of fraud sure to come out of North/West Philly.
Pittsburgh and Philly have already reported. Now it’s the rural areas that will put Toomey over the top.
Looking better now:
Election results were last updated 11/2/2010 9:45 PM.
United States Senator
Candidate Votes Percent
SESTAK, JOE (DEM)
892,933 52.1%
TOOMEY, PAT (REP)
819,665 47.9%
>>margin of fraud<<
Post of the night!
Looking better, but Toomey is basically down 52-48 while Corbett is leading 52-48. Not the best sign for Toomey.
Democratic fraud machines in full effect in Illinois and Pennsylvania...I don’t trust either state until all the votes are counted.

He looks like he might know Aqua Buddha.
I agree, however, if Kirk loses, we will have lost all of our chances to stop the lame duck bills because the states that could have prevented this (DE, WV, and perhaps IL) have all been loses for us.
SESTAK, JOE (DEM)
1,178,532 51.9%
TOOMEY, PAT (REP)
1,094,628 48.2%
Looks like Toomey is pulling back up. Sestak’s lead over Toomey fell from 4.4% to 3.7%.
If I’m reading this right, he’s down by 60,000 votes, with 2 counties left.....not to be defeatist, but thats a pretty long run he needs.......
http://www.electionreturns.state.pa.us/ElectionsInformation.aspx#C2-0
Showing Toomey pulling ahead. Lots of suburban totals not yet in.
its’ now near 120K votes w/60% in....does toomey have any chance?
Toomey is finished but we will eeke the house out. That fat faced Rove killed us with hi bashing of O’Donnel.Get that sorry POS out of our party. If we can get 4 seats in the Senate we can tell Snowe, Collins and Voinovitch to piss off and filabuster the Hell out of Obama the communist. We can now defund the EPA totally and the Department of education!! And amnesty is a joke. WE will tell Homeland security to finish the damned wall or no money for their sorry ass.
Toomey had a consistent lead for this entire race and ran a good campaign. If he doesn’t win something is seriously wrong.
No, there are still 38% of the voting districts not reporting. Victory is still very possible!
Right now....he's solidly behind. (9:08PM, CST)
No, still 38% left to report out of 2.2 million votes cast. Very do-able.
The Real Clear Politics live bloggers think Toomey is in real trouble. I sure hope the’re wrong.
