Did itsinthebag actively campaign against Firoina, or express his opinion after the fact?

And how does an individual posting after the election on the internet compare with Karl Rove trashing the primary winner before she even has a chance to make a speech?

I second the condolences to all in California. I also feel sorry for the good people in California.

Great post...absolutely spot on.

I saw this outcome before the primaries were over...no one wanted to hear the truth. Both Whitman and Fiorina were doomed from the start...they never had a chance.

This is what you get with milquetoast Rinos....

Have we learned our lessons YET?????

Yes, a solid articulate Conservative can win in Kalifornia...we just don’t have any yet.

Yep, free speach forum dude. Anyone who is happy that an uber-leftist is reelected (who makes even 0bama look centrist), and calling a woman a “wench” (my, what a ‘christian’ thing to say) is trollish. Act like a troll, expect to be treated as such.

It really doesn’t matter. Big city democrats have a big majority of votes. I though they would learn a lesson when they voted for Gray Davis. LA and Bay area voters will vote for anything with a “D” next to the name. Take Scott Peterson off death row and he could win a Senate seat as a democrat with no campaign in California. He has name recognition.

Teaching Democrats here is like trying to teach moths not to fly into the flame.

A “maybe” liberal Fiorina is better than a definitely socialist Boxer.

Fiorina DID mention the health bill
her commercials also mentioned opposition to gun control
She talked about the loss of the economic status of CA.
She talked about stopping illegal immigration. It was Whitman who met with the Spanish-speaking media here in CA, not Fiorina.

I think the thing that really hurt Fiorina was the 2-week hiatus from advertising back in late Sept/early Oct, when Boxer launched an immense media/ad blitz. Fiorina never recovered from that point on, and was always down about 4-5 in the polls. The reason? those wonderful folks at the NRSC who didn’t want to spend money out here.

Look, we had an outspokenly pro-life, pro-gun, anti-illegal-immigration, pro-business, pro-tax reduction candidate. WTF more do you think you’re going to have here? Fiorina worked and campaigned constantly (excepting 3 days for the hospital visit last week).
The unions are just too damn strong here in CA, and THAT is the real margin of victory for the Dems here in CA. They spent a fortune, worked, and had a great get-out-the-vote effort in the highly-populated coastal strip. Boxer’s victory was there and there only. In the inland, she lost badly, most conservative “red” counties went Fiorina by more than 20%. What emphatically DIDNT help were the clowns who went 3rd party or no-vote because of ideological purity or whatever. The same folks probably also inflicted the thoroughly-disgusting Kamala Harris on us for AG. That race is still too close to call and may yet swing. Just the AI party votes would swing that one into the “win” column. Think about that.

Note: DeVore is a great guy, but he couldn’t even beat the guy who came in second (Campbell) in the primary, do you REALLY think he was gonna win this one?

Oh, well. It’s likely soon to no longer be my problem. I just was informed that I have a pending out-of-state job offer.

Both Carly and Meg ran really outstanding campaigns ... They really did run EXCELLENT campaigns.

You and I must have a much different definition of excellence. Sheesh! Read some of the articles coming out -- even their campaign advisors knew these were hopelessly flawed candidates.

But CA is totally hopeless and mindless straight ticket voting drones make up a majority of the voters.

Yeah -- it's the voters fault. How dare them not line up and vote like drones(R) for the trojan horses on the ballot. /s
(New Coke failed because of those darn consumers - how dare them not like it!)

I have to agree with you cowgirl.....

right from the start I was waiting for the hard hitting ads from either one of these two women.

I had the opportunity to see Nutmeg up close and personal and she was the dullest candidate I've ever heard.

I wondered more than once why we couldn't have had a candidate with some spunk!

I'm sorry -- but did you hear any of Fiorina's "business" ideas? She is a big-government globalist. "Free market" was not in her repetoire. Instead, she wanted more government involvement, more handouts, more "incentives", more "economic zones", more investment in "green energy" and "green jobs" -- more of all the crap that is saddling the average business today. Sure, all of those things help her high tech buddies and venture capital friends -- but the average citizen gets screwed. But, since we're all suffering so much, she was more than ready to jump the aisle and push for more unemployment benefits, etc.

She would have been a good Senator -- kinda like Lincoln Chaffee or John McCain: sure to disappoint.

Carly vowed to support the DREAM Act.
She fully supported the repeal of DADT.
She supported Obama’s unemployment excesses
She supported Obama’s new START nuclear weapons treaty.
She said she wanted to fix the global warming cap and trade nonsense — not denounce it.
She ran ad after ad touting how she would cross her party...

Was it Meg or Fiorina that first spoke out against the Tea Party rallies?

I swear I remember it being Fiorina and it was before she jumped on their bandwagon.

But....I still would have taken her over Boxer. If nothing else than to slap that smug expression off Boxer's face!

I read a couple post-mortems today. They said that she didn’t want to interact with the media, wasn’t comfortable getting out and talking with people, etc. So... they kept her sheltered. The woman can’t ride around on her jet and cook up her ideas in isolation — I don’t think she has any idea of what the average citizen thinks about politicians or Sacramento. She never followed public policy or any of California’s long history - she couldn’t even be bothered to vote. She came across as totally clueless on issues.

She irked me because all she kept saying was “I have a plan” or “I know how to solve those problems” but NEVER said HOW. I read through her 50 page glossy brochure calling for a “NEW” California. It was void of any real strategy on how to tackle the office of governor. It was a bunch of gibberish. When you take all that with her liberal record ($ to Enviro defense, acceptance of Global Warming BS, fan of Van Jones, wanting to hand out more green energy $ to her buddies in the silicon valley, to spend $50 billion on public water projects and sell the ownership interests to her financial backers, etc. etc. etc — she became a hugely dislikable and dangerous character).

I tried to bite my tongue for months. I slipped a few times and posted less than flattering comments. But honestly - the people that come on here and say she was a good candidate or ran an excellent campaign are selling the same old snake oil.

Did you see Nehring’s comments yesterday quoted in the SF Chron? He needs to look in a mirror - he and Petey are the has-beens and relics that need to be retired.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/nov05election/detail?entry_id=76117#ixzz14H6zJ000

“I hope these two has-beens [Brown and Boxer] are at least gracious enough to take time today and thank those they’ve managed to sucker into supporting their failed policies during the last four decades. It’s important they thank them today, because after tomorrow, nobody’s going to be interested in anything those two relics have to say,” Nehring said.

Meg said less than flattering things about the Tea Party

Fiorina said something like — I’ll represent everyone and the Tea Party has some legitimate points.
She may have said something earlier than that — I don’t know.

I voted for both of them - but it took some serious nose holding.

San Diego county went R after we got rid of Nehring! And Pete Wilson is the reason we have Ahnold and Whitman and the like.

Yeah, the minute I heard that our candidate hadn't voted for 20 years or 10 years or whatever, I knew we were screwed. How does one overcome not taking an interest in their own state's gov. then try to govern it! Crazy!

Well, while I’m no longer tongue biting, did you ever check out our(R) SOS candidate?
The Democrat from Florida — also a non-voter — recruited by Rove?

California politics is decided in the metro areas

To be precise it's decided by L.A. & the Bay Area.

California is like a big watermelon: lots of red on the inside, thin blue rind on the outside.
