Kamala Harris Declares Victory In CA Attorney General Race
SF Appeal ^ | November 3, 2010 | Ari Burack, Bay City News

Posted on 11/03/2010 3:06:53 PM PDT by americanophile

A late overnight surge in votes that carried San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris into the lead in the race for state attorney general has her campaign declaring victory today.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting as of 12:39 p.m., Harris, a Democrat, led Republican Steve Cooley, the Los Angeles district attorney, 45.9 percent to 45.7 percent, according to the California Secretary of State's Office.

Harris had trailed Cooley until the early morning hours.

"In spite of Steve Cooley's Dewey-esque declaration of victory" late Tuesday night, a statement from Harris' campaign said, "San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris will be the next attorney general of the state of California."

Harris has so far received 3,292,836 votes, and Cooley 3,277,998 votes.

Elections officials must still tally provisional and absentee ballots, so the results are not final.

However, Harris' campaign asserted that "uncounted ballots will only bolster" Harris' lead.

A spokesman for the Cooley campaign did not immediately return a call for comment.

The leftist victory is apparently complete in California. They've elected the San Francisco DA to the top cop position; a woman who has zero support from law enforcement (no organizations) and wouldn't prosecute cop killers as DA. Imagine electing her over LA's DA Steve Cooley, what a complete joke this is...

Sometimes the only way to teach a needed lesson is to let the student do everything wrong, and suffer the full consequences.

“A late overnight surge in votes..?”

Sounds like the fix came in just in time. So who’s the top cop who’s gonna investigate this suspicious turn of events?

Yep, especially since ballot measure descriptions are written by the AG. The ones that many voters use to make their minds up as to how to vote.

JB was guilty of weasel wording ballot measure descriptions some time ago and especially Prop 8.

I was right to pull chocks and leave that state eight years ago.

Sad to see what my native state has become.

California, when you come to the rest of us for a bailout—and you will—that sound you hear will me be laughing, then telling you “Not only no, but **** no!”

Wonder how many illegals put her in??? An in-depth check of the votes cast would be in order. Smells like Nevada and Colorado!

Here’s an utter loser of a person. The name alone screams “pretentious liberal bimbo.” All she does is bash business. The real criminals will have free reign.

“The leftist victory is apparently complete in California.”

In California there are approximately 80 seats in state assembly, 40 seats in state senate, and about 53 U.S. congressional districts. I can’t find one district where the incumbent was not re-elected. Even a dead woman was re-elected. Apparently the democrats swept all of the state constitutionally elected offices as well.

Add to this mess the fact that Prop. 25 passed. Proposition 25 allows the rats to pass the state budget with a simple majority. This is mind numbing.

Good grief. All of California will be a sanctuary State. Prosecutions of illegal immigrants with records will be down.

The Leftists continue to tax business and increase government at all levels. Unions own the public sector and they, in turn, support WITH UNION DUES politicians that continue to support far-Left policies.

It’s the ultimate game, the people in power use public money to keep themselves in power while taxing “eeeevil” private sector industries to keep themselves paid over-market salaries, benefits and eternal pensions.

Illegals get preferential treatment over citizens.

Jerry Brown will steer left and the state will go BK, my prediction.

“Jerry Brown will steer left and the state will go BK, my prediction.”

Is it legal for a state to bankrupt? If so, the sooner California goes BK the better. California does not owe any money to me. Screw the public employees. They have been screwing the rest of us for years.

California is over... the rest of us will NOT bail you out... I don't even care any longer. All of you Conservatives get out before laraza starts killing you all. It is over... moon beam ensures that total financial collapse is imminent. What a beautiful state engulfed in evil... it breaks my heart... but that is the reality.
