McDonald's slams San Francisco ban on Happy Meals

Fast food giant McDonald's said Wednesday it was "extremely disappointed" at a ruling by San Francisco authorities banning high-calorie Happy Meals, which entice children to eat with free toys.

The response came after the Californian city's board of supervisors voted to forbid restaurants from giving gifts with meals that contain too much fat and sugar.

"We are extremely disappointed with this decision. It?s not what our customers want, nor is it something they asked for," said McDonald's spokeswoman Danya Proud.

Happy Meals, which typically come in a colorful cardboard box packed with a burger, a drink, fries and desert, are popular with hard-pressed parents as well as children, she said.

"Public opinion continues to be overwhelmingly against this misguided legislation. Parents tell us it's their right and responsibility, not the government's, to ... to choose what?s right for their children."

Gross. I’ll bet Barney Frank has every one of their home phone numbers, too.

Hiya, George,

Not only that, but saw a quick tv clip that the first transgender person is playing the WNBA or a college team.

TIME magazine ran a piece on the heretofore unrecognized dangers of rampant THS. It may be responsible for SIDS, Alzheimer’s, Obesity, Aggression, possibly boisterousnous among boys and even other diseases.

Can banning fryers be that far away? Think this crowd is only after toys? Think of the dangers of fumes, secondhandfumes from greasefryers.

Not to mention that beer is worse’n crack, junk or meth.

That’s the rub, isn’t it.

How could a document like the Constitution address every damn blithering and inane diktat from the government.

They did not foresee the discarding of common sense by our Nannyists.

What does it violate; some sense of free commerce, and common sense, a rational reasonability or vice versa.

Heck, just on this issue, imagine the brouhaha if McD’s had included a toy or squirt gun or somesuch.

The precedent was set. Now, they’re gonna work on the food in McD’s.

On the bright side, McRib is back!

I laugh when people say you don’t have a right to...

In the Preamble, we are afforded the right to peaceably assemble.

Now in MA, for most towns, if I wish to rent a hall in the VFW or Columbus for an evening, put out ashtrays and invite only smokers, I am not permitted to do so.

Peacable Assembly? Lan’o’th’free, homothebrave.

But many situational conservatives support Nannyism.
