Congratulations America. You have just experienced another free, open and peaceful election. Thank a soldier!
Yesterday, amid the swirl of midterm election news, it was announced that President Obamas trip to Mumbai, India would cost $200 million per day. His retinue includes 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists, 40 aircraft, and three Marine One choppers that will be disassembled in the US, flown to Mumbai, and reassembled in India to ferry the president and his family and to evacuate them in case of any emergency. Also included is military personnel to ensure his safety.
He has reserved the entire Taj Mahal Hotel. All 570 odd rooms, banquet halls, restaurants, etc. In addition to hundreds of rooms in other 5 star hotels around Mumbai. Obviously no expense will be spared.

If this were Bush, the trip would have been cancelled because of all the outrage coming from the left.
Let's not forget that 'dry run'...
And frail seniors are in the commodities line in ever increasing numbers...while he parties and gives money to illegals.
They do! When I lived in the West Indies, someone died from a coconut falling. One fell right in front of me and it fell HARD.
I'm not sure it was a dry run. It might have been a diversion.
Possibly it was an attempt to send explosives into the country. They weren't supposed to explode then but rather used in a dirty bomb while Obama is in India.
Make that multiple dirty bombs in DC, NYC, LAX and Chicago.
My antenna really went up when Gibbs made a big deal in saying that the decision to take the girls was an afterthought--no big deal one way or the other--that it was a later, sort of ambivalent decision to take them...but what he said seemed staged. What's the purpose of a big explanation (if not for a real need and early-on plan for the girls to go?) It all struck me as odd, and it gave me a sinking feeling.
And Hillary is out of the country, also.
Did you read in my post where I said there are half a Billion poor people in India? The point I was making is about the positive change I saw there from decades ago.
But yes there are a lot of poor people and slums in the largest democracy in the world. Point is there are also a whole bunch of ultra modern segments which were absent just after independence in 1947.
And I have walked through many slums in India. I also have walked through ghetto’s in Chicago. I was mugged not too far from Univ of Chicago at Hyde park station. Never had that experience in India in the poorest of neighborhoods.
Divorce rate, murder rate, contraband drug usage etc is much higher in US. I still recall the definition of a fool which I learned in Sanskrit....which said a fool sees the smallest blemish in others but has no awareness of large blemishes of his own.
He should be denied re-entry into the country.
Are you always this combative?
I was just confirming my point, and I have nothing against India. One of my favorite people in the news was Mother Theresa, in the past, and her commitment there. She was truly a Saint....and I’m not a catholic, either.
This conversation seems pointless to me, as I was commenting, humorously, on the Obama trip with the coconut trees being cut down. I don’t understand cutting down
perfectly good trees that provide a type of food.
Please, lighten up. Life is too short.
Yes, America has problems, especially in the area of crime, and that will come to any society, with the great divide between the poor, and the prosperous. Add television, violence onscreen, and let the modern teenagers get a taste of materialism, and you will see similar types of criminal behavior in any democratic country. We see it in American cities, where the poor ghettos back up to wealthy neighborhoods. It becomes a grinding spear into the poor youth, of what they do not have.
We have gangs, and drugs rampant, because so many have given up on getting out of their situation. It is years of food stamps, welfare, and less opportunities for a better education in those inner cities. Hope is jobs, and a way out through education, and encouragement that says “you can do this.”
The American Dream is still possible with a lot of hard work, and staying out of debt. Communism removes hope from the masses, and life is just a boring, painful wait til death. I look at pictures of communist peoples on the news or in clips, and few smiles, no joy, and it’s just zombies without a lot of emotion. I wouldn’t want to live like that.
I am an independent conservative, but I do believe in some social programs, however I also believe a hand up is better than a hand out. Poverty is no excuse for lack of accountability in crime, and we have crossed the line in our country, because we excuse people for bizarre reasons.
The USA is still the best thing that ever happened, and hopefully we will get a chance to return to the years of it’s great prosperity, and less crime, because new opportunites abound. However, I am a realist, and a christian, so I think we will face some difficult days ahead.
I hope India handles it’s prosperity and poverty better than we have, only time will tell.
Have a good evening. Ciao
taking 34 war ships?????? What the????
Where is Joe Biden? Where is the next in line Nancy Pelosi?
last week as the Russian military tested their inter-continental missiles, the US announced that 50 of our NORAD missiles were out of commission due to computer failure.
Could there be a threat the US government knows about and team Obama are all going to be out of the country when the ballon goes up??
09/11/01 = 11/09/10 ??
>>09/11/01 = 11/09/10 ??<<
How interesting. I have seen somewhere that the 9/11 date meant something to Muslims but I have forgotten where I saw that.
I do believe the large number of diplomats and CEOs has some significance. Its more like an offshore command center then a diplomatic trip.
