Pretty much the same situation the world over when dealing with anyone in a position of authority. I may, by default, consider cops to be "on my side" but they don't know what side I'm on at first, so I tread lightly.
I think your advice to clients is unfortunate because it would immediately raise red flags with most police... and probably cost your client an unnecessary detainment. But then.....you could come to the rescue (for a modest fee) and free them from those awful barbarians. *smile*

What was happening at Dix to cause that? They’re not really near any bad areas; was it the draftees?
Knowing the Bay Area, the rioters are likely a Rainbow Coalition of black thugs, white anarchists, and tribal-tattooed college students (who will probably get robbed and beaten by the black thugs they stand in "solidarity" with).

That’s a shame; I wasn’t even in school yet went the war ended, but I had a few family members serve.

I can take the heat better than cold anyday. Lived in Minnesota for 2 years and kissed the ground when I got back to Texas. So yes......this is heaven to me. :)
This is unfortunate but you cannot broadly state "police have it coming" because of your prejudices and jeopardize any client's well-being by giving colored advice which would make them suspect...opening them up to unwanted attention by police.
Unless of course.....you're just like the rest of those ambulance-chasers ....looking to play psuedo-hero while making a quick buck off someone else's misery, eh? :)
