Thanks. Hah, they release it while I’m at Bertucci’s having lunch! (good btw, sporkie pizza, salad, soup)

from Jason “Hokey” Wolfe, WEEI/WRKO’s program dir via
WRKO facebook:
“Last week, a frivolous rumor went out in a local blog stating that WRKO would be replacing Tom Finneran and Todd Feinberg. Despite the fact this was pure fiction, for some reason Tom and Todd decided to pretend it was true during their program this morning. We’re very happy with Todd and Tom’s performance, and they are not being replaced.”

(Hokey Wolf of course was the fast-talkin’, con man wolf
of Hanna Barbera cartoon fame, hence my nickname for Jason...)

WRKO morning-drive radio duo Tom Finneran and Todd Feinburg played a fast one on listeners this morning, fueling phony blog rumors that they were being replaced with Republican former state Treasurer Joe Malone and Boston comedian Steve Sweeney.

The rumor mill began churning Friday morning, when Malone and Sweeney went on Jim Braude and Margery Eagan’s show on rival news talk station WTKK-FM (96.9).

Malone and Sweeney talked about the launch of their new radio show — but there was no mention of the name of the station — only that it was a competitor.

Needless to say, the blogosphere went wild.

On Friday, the Democratic blog Blue Mass group posted the headline, “WRKO to cancel Tom Finneran-Todd Feinburg show?”

The post that followed said “multi-defeated Republican pol, Joe Malone, and local spastic comic Steve Sweeney will be the new morning team ....read that ‘mourning team’ on the formerly successful talker WRKO. Malone and Sweeney made their new program announcement on rival WTKK.”

Finneran and Feinburg fanned the flames even more this morning when they spent well over an hour joking about their “departure” and even had Malone on their program.

Malone and Sweeney plan to appear on WRKO tomorrow morning to fess up to the hoax.

WRKO-AM (680) program director Jason Wolfe said in a statement today that Finneran and Feinburg are not being replaced.

Wolfe said a “frivolous rumor went out in a local blog” last week that said WRKO would be replacing Finneran and Feinburg.

“Despite the fact this was pure fiction, for some reason Tom and Todd decided to pretend it was true during their program this morning,” Wolfe said. “We’re very happy with Todd and Tom’s performance, and they are not being replaced.”

Finneran and Feinburg didn’t return calls. Producer Bill Cooksey and Malone couldn’t be reached.

Malone and Sweeney are in fact debuting a new weekly radio show tomorrow night on Marshfield station WATD-FM (95.9). The show will focus on news, politics and entertainment and can be heard every Tuesday from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m.

I just heard Howie bleep someone out who wanted to talk about tom and todd, caller started off talking about the subject at hand, cahill, and then asked if he could say something else, he was bleeped out and Howie ended by saying that he doesn’t listen to the morning show and beside it’s not true. I haven’t listened to Howie’s whole show today so I’m not sure if this was the only caller that attempted to say something about the HOAX.

RKO becomes more and more irrelevant so they have to resort to this in order to get listeners?

Did anyone listen to T&T today? Did they admit they lied or are they still keeping the myth alive?

No; to be honest I work nights and the only reason I get up early on Mondays is because I’m off the night before and can get up earlier, and didn’t get up early enough (if I wanted to). They prob admitted the hoax

But who voted for them?
By Howie Carr | Wednesday, November 10, 2010 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Columnists

Who voted for Suzanne Bump?

I feel like the film critic Pauline Kael, who famously said in 1972 that Richard Nixon couldn’t possibly have been elected president because she didn’t know anybody who had voted for him. I mean, do you know anyone who voted for Suzanne Bump, the auditor-elect who thinks it’s only a crime to cheat on your taxes if you get caught?

A good Democrat, in other words.

Sour grapes, I know. But I have the same question about many of the other victorious local Democrats. Like, who cast a ballot for Johnny Pockets Tierney? Or Niki Tsongas? Or Susan Fargone Fargo? Or Therese Murray? Or Mike Rodrigues?

Who are these dolts who have left Taxachusetts a blue island in a sea of red? You can’t ask these voters what they were thinking because obviously they weren’t, thinking that is.

Likewise, we needn’t ask them what they were smoking, because that’s obvious.

After poring over the results, I have reached some conclusions about the character of the Nov. 2 electorate.

For instance, you probably voted the modern equivalent of a straight Democrat ticket if:

You don’t work on Bunker Hill Day or St. Patrick’s Day.

You don’t work, period.

You still think it’s George Bush’s fault, whatever “it” is.

You used to have a bumper sticker on your car, “Labor: the People who Gave You the Weekend,” but now you have one that says, “Labor: the People who Gave You the Phony Disability Pension.”

You call Steve Lynch “Stevie” and you can still remember the last time you saw Fast Eddie Markey in Massachusetts – it was 1979.

You think that Bush’s wars were genocide and 9/11 was an inside job, and as for Barack’s wars – what wars?

You are a member of organized labor, which is not to be confused with “work.”

You call your local state rep, “Mistah Chairman.”

You’ve known Mumbles Menino so long you can remember when he only had a 60-inch waist.

You think suspended Probation Commissioner John O’Brien got a raw deal.

You may have voted a straight Democrat ticket if, the next time you see Tim Cahill, you’re planning to a) shake his hand and b) buy him a Hoodsie or three.

You were outraged when you saw the bumper sticker: “Nobody died in Jeff Perry’s Wareham PD patrol car.”

Whenever you drive by a construction site you yell, “Don’t kill the job!”

And finally, you may have voted Democrat if you’re planning to phone in sick Friday after Veterans Day to make it a four-day weekend.

A change is business policy at WTKK leads to the end of the
Jimmy Myers show...”a talk host who happens to be black”.
(Often blamed things on racism; quit WBZ-TV newscast right on the air)
