Funny thing is , I just reread The Manifesto last week for about the 5th time.
Five Times. Impressive. It pays to know the enemy.

I would vote for a Palin/Ryan ticket. But he says he isn’t interested. Poor guy, when I saw him interviewed on Greta, he sleeps on a cot in his office, flies home on the weekends to see his wife and kids. I hope he is able to win some battles on the budget & appropriations committee. We sure need him.

Technically we have a Central Bank not a National Bank.

True. However, back in the day the two terms were interchangeable.

Politics has to answer the fundamental questions of "where are we?", "how did we get here?" and most importantly "where do we go from here?". Connecting to the voter on a superficial emotional level is fine, but in the end it is just the same as Obama's "hopey changey": all gravy, no beef. You have to instill in people an idea of the world that goes beyond mere group identity, it has to be a sense of purpose. Reagan's mastery was that his vision didn't rely on political utopias like Barack Obama's, but that he could frame issues as a mission statement, a mission in which a wide variety of people could and wanted to participate. First of all, I'm very much in agreement that projecting group identity is almost worthless in leadership. Individuals who think that a group is what makes them great are weak fools.
Reagan, and all those who like him, are called pretty much the same names as Palin, and I think the reason is because liberals don't like the answers given to those questions you asked, not because of the level of intelligence demonstrated by Palin. Politics is an emotional enterprise, and Reagan was a master at evoking those emotions. Palin, in a different way, connects with the emotions of her countrymen, but with the same basal political affiliations.
