Defeated Democrats Pen Letter to Implore Pelosi to step aside
FOX News ^ | Nov 8, 2010 | Chad Pergram

Posted on 11/08/2010 7:29:42 AM PST by BAW

OX has obtained a letter being penned by defeated House Democrats that implores House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to step aside.

The letter is now circulating Capitol Hill and has not yet been sent to the Speaker. FOX has obtained draft language of the letter.

In the draft of the letter, the members say that they were "victimized by a national wave of resentment toward Democrats, a wave that ensnared you along with us."

The letter goes on to say "Madam Speaker, fairly or unfairly, Republicans made you the face of the resentment and disagreement in our races. While we commend your years of service to our party and your leadership through many tough times, we respectfully ask that you step aside as the top Democrat in the House."

The letter says that the defeated members "fear that Republicans will further demonize you, and in so doing, they will scare potential candidates out. The prospect of having to run against their own party leadership, in addition to their Republican opponent is simply too daunting."

The lawmakers also say that "one mark of a strong leader is the ability to discern when it is time to pass the baton" and calls this a "dark hour."

The letter closes asking Pelosi to step aside.

I wonder if the Republicans will walk the street like Peloski and her minions did, when they won control of the house?

Those dems always try to find someone to blame for their actions. Just take responsibility for your actions and your votes and realize that the way you voted was not what the people wanted it was the way Pelosi wanted you to vote and like any good lemming you followed her and now you have to answer to the people.

Add mentally challenged to the hardest hit list. Includes most Democrats, with Alan Grayson a notable mention.

Pelosi doesn’t even care about voters, and these defeated Dems aren’t even voters anymore. All Pelosi cares about is winning the vote of a majority of her caucus.

DELIGHTFUL!!

However, it needs a little editing to make it truthful:

* We are very fortunate to be victimized by a national wave of resentment toward Democrats, as you already know playing the victim card is what we're best at , a wave that ensnared you along with us. Although, truth be told, you kind of ensnared all of us by pushing that unfortunate Health Care thing."

"Madam Speaker, quite fairly and accurately , Republicans made you the face of the resentment and disagreement in our races. While we commend blame you for the calamities committed during your years of service to our party and your leadership through many tough times, we respectfully ask that you step aside as the top Democrat in the House."

If it's signed only by the defeated Dems, it means they're fronting for the incumbent Dems who don't want their names on such a letter.

Here's how it will come down:

There'll be no vote for the Speakership during the lame-duck session as she'll still be wielding that big gavel.

When the vote comes up AFTER the lame-duckship, she'll lose because the incumbents don't want her any more than the dearly departed signing the letter did.

Since she can read the organic tea leaves, I look for her to resign AFTER the dead-duck session but BEFORE any vote by the incumbents in the new session.

Hasta la vista, bebe!

“my husband and I, at the Kill the Bill rally in DC, spent a lot of time in OH Congressman John Boccieri’s office warning his aides that IF he voted for the hideous health care bill, he would LOSE HIS JOB.”

This was a common thread throughout the townhall meetings — assuring the dems they’d be fired if they voted for the healthcare bill. In their stunning arrogance, they ignored the warnings... and they lost their pathetic jobs.

Unfortunately the defeated dems may be the only ones. So far statements I have heard from those who survived Tuesday night with their jobs are in support of making her Minority Leader.

It’s ok, folks.

She is exactly the poster person conservatives can use to show the rest of the nation that the tyrannical marxist dems will never learn.

I had not noticed the person carrying the purse and holding hands with the other person (I'm trying to be politically correct here). Does anybody know what are their names? And were they re-elected?

I think you are right on that. This letter is from the defeated dems who don’t get to vote on her reelection as speaker. You know the somewhat sane ones who know why they were beat as a warning and as a last slap at Madame Speaker.Makes great press but has little to do with who is elected speaker unless the liberal wing takes note and gets cold feet.

In my humble opion, this exercise is the beginning of the Democrats trying to rebuild the credibility of the “blue dogs”. The reality is that the Democrats cannot retake the House of Representatives without a lot of blue dogs getting elected in moderate districts. Blue Dog Democrats are left-wingers who run to the right to get elected and then lay low as overt left-wingers in the Democrat party pass bad legislation. Often times, blue dogs don’t neesd to vote for Democrat legislation...they simply need to skip those votes. They provide the Democrats the majority and allow the left-wingers in the House to control the committees.

This letter is an attempt (and I predict that it will ultimately be successful) to make sure the blue dogs get credit for Nancy Pelosi retiring. When she does, all of the remaining blue dogs will be able to tell their constituencies that they are “independant” of the left-wingers in their party with the hope that moderate districts will be fooled and vote for blue dog democrats in future elections. I’m not sure that its going to work now that talk radio and the internet is there to keep an eye on them.

trying to decide if this is a delusional Pelosi acting on her own to maintain power, or if this whole thing is a set up to make it look like the ‘moderates’ are going to wrestle control of the party from the leftists out in the open to show the voters they are changing. I put nothing past these people.

Yep, you're right...thats what they are trying to do. The Democrats will never be able to win back control of the House of Representatives unless blue dogs and moderates win elections in moderate districts. I don't know if its going to work anymore, though.

Exactly.

And I certainly hope they're reflecting on how many times they were told they were going to be fired if they ignored the American people.

Perhaps the next group of so-called 'conservative Dems' have been given some food for thought in case they allow themselves to be bullied by the radicals in charge of their party to make stupid decisions.

I would think that keeping their jobs would be worth the busted knee caps they would have sustain had they resisted the thugs. :)
