Just received this from a friend. For more info and the menu (yum) check out the applebees website.

Thanks, Applebees, but I’m proud enough of my service not to trade on it for a free meal.

My husband and I tried to go to Applebee’s last year so he could have his free Veteran’s Day meal. The place was swamped with people. If we would have stayed we would have had to wait at least 2 hours to eat. Management was kind enough to give my husband a free coupon to come back another night.

Thank you, Applebees, for this gesture of gratitude to our Vets!
Hopefully you will not become the victim of scams like Denny’s was during their free birthday meal promotion years ago.

I happened to stop in during lunch hour last year and the restaurant was busy. I asked the waitress about all the uniforms and American Legion, VFW, etc. caps in the place. She told me about the free veterans meal and asked if I was one. I showed her my American Legion card and enjoyed the free meal. Thanks Applebee’s - I’ve stopped by several more times during the year in apprecation.

My husband is proud of his service as well. We have six children and he is unable to treat himself very often because we need to spend our money on things like clothing & groceries! I appreciate Applebees & Outback Steakhouse honoring our service men & women like this. Too many times my husband has had to deal with liberal idiots who don't appreciate the sacrafices he has made and continues to make.

I’ve always been averse to tradin on my service for free anything.
Free beer, free meals, etc.
Just doesn’t feel right.
If somebody feels different, that’s their right.

Famous Dave’s around here is saying they will give free meals to “active duty and retired”. Not sure if this excludes other veterans. Also HyVee will be serving free breakfasts to vets.

2 weeks back there was a Freeper who opened up a long vanity thread and was bitching about Applebee’s being the worst food out there. Kudos to Applebee’s.

The Golden Corrals here in AZ are offering a free meal to our Military and Vets on Nov. 15th. The one by us is always overflowing way out the doors as we live in a retirement area and have other retirement areas close by.....and we have so many retired Military and Vets here and about.
We should take time to thank these restaurants for their patronage to our finest and let them know they are appreciated for their patriotism.

When someone offers you a gift, it’s gracious to say thank you, or at least no thank you.

They’d be smart to give vets a week or so as to avoid the lines that apparently come with this.

It’s a great tribute. I went last year and was delighted by the large crowd that included a number of aged vets.
