No screening whatsoever is LESS safe in your book? A no-screening policy would allow non-terrorists (who are likely to outnumber terrorists on any flight) to fly armed, and thus be more likely to be able to quickly stop a hijacking attempt. A no-screening policy could have averted the 911 hijackings altogether! You think that the screening makes us MORE safe?

Interesting thoughts... J. Stossel recently wrote a report regarding the number of decreased accidents when stop signs and stop lights were removed from street corners.

It seems when so-called “safety measures” are put in place, people wrongfully assume that all problems are taken care of and therefore think less, pay less attention, and are less cautious.

I’m a firm believer in all things free market - people and communities can take care of ourselves pretty darn well.

Too bad so many have become so brainwashed and weak...just like the globalists want...

You are about 99% correct about where these affirmative action workers came from and you can bet they were counted by Bozo as jobs he created!

These are not only no-value-added jobs, they are value-lessening jobs....low skill, high pay, non-productive jobs. Maryland has a ridiculous biannual car emissions inspection boondoggle. It appears that non-affirmative action groups need not apply for these jobs as well.

I like it. Auto detonation chamber. With bacon grease lined walls. I had a plan for people to eat a slice of Ham or Bacon. if they don’t they get the strip search.

Explosive detecting dogs are used in some foreign airports. I have experienced it and found their handlers to be very professional. This seems like a much better solution to the problem. It just doesn’t give the government the power that they seem to crave today. Is there any will on the part of the TEAparty freshmen to address this?

I also gave up flying for good. Thankfully, I can since I've already seen the world as much as I care to and don't have a job that requires travel. I do have to make a 13 hour drive if I choose to see family but a comfortable car, coffee, and books on tape makes the trip easy.

Never thought that I would live to see so many fainters on FR. Do you think that they would have ever been able to make it in the military in Iraq?

Really? What were you doing when I was in the military (Infantry) in Iraq? Making an imbecile out of yourself on internet forums?

Regardless of military service, some of us beleive it's wrong to be forced into being irradiated, groped and viewed virtually naked by TSA trained monkeys.

I'm not sure what my fighting a war has to do with any of that.

Your link woke up my virus scanner.

You're kidding me! Did it find anything? Because Norton says it's fine, as does Google.

Maybe it's those Libs who don't want us to know what our rights are! ;)

You are correct that bomb dogs don’t give the government the same sense of power that the current procedures do. And I think that at least at the high level, that’s the whole point. Because creating a bomb dog program in replacement of the new scanners and gadgets they invest in would be just as effective, maybe even cheaper. Who knows if the Tea Party people will tackle this issue and apply the needed political pressure to get this crap changed.

It is better to grope innocent white women and children than force the Moslimes to see a dog. :0)

I’ll make a deal. I will agree to be scanned and groped if the Federal Government will do the same to EVERYBODY crossing the border from Mexico.

Bomb sniffing dogs require highly skilled workers, another reason the current administration probably wouldn’t like it....not exactly an affirmative action low skill/high pay job.

I know it won’t happen, but this problem could be countered by contracting civilian companies such as American K-9 who provide dog handlers to assist the military overseas and let them take care of this aspect of security. These companies would maintain the high professional standards required of K-9 handlers without worrying about the TSA f-ing it up. One company could not fill all the slots at all the airports while maintaining their quota of people in combat zones, so you would see a surge of new K-9 businesses starting up all over the nation and new job opportunities for people who’ve acquired this skill or would like to learn it. A lot of military dog handlers would gladly jump into this sphere of work in the civilian sector, myself included. TSA already has their own K-9 program, so if this idea was implemented I could see both privately contracted handlers working side by side with TSA dog handlers to meet the numbers quota, which would be quite large. Just replace the goofy scanners and metal detectors with competent dog teams, x-ray carry-on luggage, fire the power hungry thugs and things would run a lot smoother without civil rights violations being a big concern.

Why do they even bother? This nonsensical random screening does nothing to prevent terror attacks, ruins the peace of mind for all travelers, torments the innocent, and doesn’t even appease the leftist rulers.

Exactly - it is "security theatre", nothing more.

I dunno...I’m starting to think there is another motive here.

Harm/destroy the airline business, control and conditioning the people or maybe even a distraction from something else that’s going on?

This is just too outrageous.
