Posted on 11/21/2010 5:36:26 PM PST by onyx
Sarah Palin's Alaska takes viewers into the country's 'final frontier' through the eyes of one of its most famous citizens - Sarah Palin. Sarah is joined by various family members as she shares the state she knows and loves. Along with Alaska's great wilderness, the Palins' encounter Alaska's fascinating residents and share what its takes to thrive in the country's largest state.
While we wait for the show to start tonight, Sarah Palin has posted a video from the series at PalinTVunfiltered she calls "Mother and Daughter Bonding"
TLC is channel 280 on DirecTV
It’s cold here too, not much rain today.
Sat and Sat nite it poured
Turns out that the 7 pm show was a repeat of last week, the new one was on at 9
Some posters here like to follow the lead of the leftists and the media because they are threatened by the strength and poise of the Palin family.
His "the press in an effete corps of impudent snobs" comment was even better...
LOL. She’s amazing! We can laugh at them with her.
I take great delight in her triumphs and I know you do too!
Oh, I’m so sorry, but you can see several of the videos online.
Thank you. Their hypocrisy make it easy though!
Loved tonite’s show. Such a beautiful State. So glad we bought Seward’s Folly, just for the halibut. Loved Sarah’s line “don’t retreat, just reload”. Sums up Tea Party philosophy perfectly. Watching them fry up and eat the halibut made me mucho hungry. Reminded me of trips to Door County in Wisconsin when I was younger, where they have their famous fish boils. Something about eating outdoors makes the food taste all the more wonderful. Looking totally forward to next week’s episode.
You don’t think she is qualified?
Where have you been?
The clubbing of the halibut stuns the fish to keep it from thrashing itself on the ship’s deck. The thrashing gets quite violent and damages the tissues; ruining the texture of the meat. It was interesting to see these fish still quivering after they had gutted them, removed the heart and stuffed them with ice.
I can imagine the challenge stunning a 200 lb halibut. One false move and you could have a broken leg. In fact, Sarah yelped when one slapped her leg.
Sarah and Bristol showed great courage taking on their jobs pulling them aboard and clubbing these treacherous animals.
LOL. Your comments are delightful. I am smiling. “That woman Palin” She is truly special. Her series is a huge hit! The debut show broke TLC’s viewing record - almost 5 million viewers! Thanks very much for watching and for commenting on this thread. See you tonight on DWTS? Voting for Bristol 800-868-3407.
I was hoping that someone on board did an Andrew Zimmern and take that heart and pop it in his mouth. Its an Alaskan tradition that the first halibut you catch, if you want to be a good fisherman, you have to eat the heart.
Yes, I take great pleasure in watching her progress from victory to victory, in her sure and steady stride toward the presidency.
I'll tell you something, Onyx. I knew that I was looking at an American who would go down in our history books, the first moment I laid eyes on her. I have believed in her since hearing her acceptance speech in 2008, and she has not let me down. For what it's worth, I don't think she ever will.
In rare moments in our history, extraordinary people who prove worthy of our trust, rise to lead the country in times of peril. Those few are remembered and revered by a grateful nation for all time. I believe Sarah Palin to be such a person.
This is the best TV program I have ever watched...
Oops. Don’t thank me.
I say, let’s thank Sarah!
SPAK is really a wholesome family show.
Family ties is what this country need to strengthen. We will need the love and trust of our respective families in the future, when European Union falls (and chips will be on us too).
Two things about the future:
1. EU is disintegrating ... one country after anothers.
2. EU is now more “susceptible” to Radical Islam than ever.
SPAK reminds us that we really need to cherish and enjoy our family while we still can. We do not really know what will happen in the future.
It's really not a reality show...it's kind of like the "Dirty Jobs" show where an aspect of Alaska is presented in an entertaining way with some entertaining hosts. It is kind of a unique format in its own way. I would agree that it's not "Presidential"...but strangely enough I think that's a plus for her political career. If the show wasn't entertaining nobody would watch it.
Not just PETA, but “vegetarians” who eat fish because they don’t want to slaughter the cute little fuzzy animals will see how fish are killed and eaten.
I’m sure you got lots of responses, but in case I missed them, it was Spiro Agnew, Nixon’s VP.
Rove’s candidate showcase couldn’t fill a half hour show let alone eight hours of entertainment. Watched it twice with you know who enjoying it as much the second time as the first.
My son caught a halibut once when they were salmon fishing. (He worked two season salmon fishing in AK) Said it’s not only the ugliest fish you’ve ever seen but the most agressive. Out of season and they were just trying to get it back in the water and it almost did them in. He has a picture. It was almost as big as he was. Not only do I have a great deal of respect for MamaBear but also the Pistol for doing what they did.
We commented on the same thing. Maybe people will understand why she is improving week after week...OTOH To some “Work” is just a four letter word.
I was very touched, and re watched the tease for next week show, when she crys about Trig.....I love this woman, I believe she will be a tremendous President, and I pray she gets the chance.
I bet he is too.....And I have to admit, I am very in touch with living things and could not do the fishing, or hunting of anything, ‘cepting humans, but what a great lady....and I agree about Bristol’s comment about learning from her parents....
And My guess is America will be very impressed with Todd...
I check ABC’s website. DWTS will be on from 8-9pm tonight. (Skating with the Stars comes on at 9:00.)
Tues DWTS comes on at 9-11pm. Eleven of this season’s couples will also return to the ballroom to dance one more time.
....and the current CiC is? So who would you pick for the GOP candidate?
Can anyone provide a suggestion as to where to go to read the post-Palin show liberal bashing reviews ...I really NEED to hear their cries and lament over the fishing excursion. Hee, Hee.
I about fell out when they had a viewers discretion warning over killing a fish!!!!!
We are a sad society!
Loved the show and the more I watch the more I like Sarah Palin........and I love her family! She’s so normal and so are her kids!
Anybody conservative is going to be “damaged goods”, because as soon as the conservative candidate is perceived as a threat, the media will go to work. And as long as we continue to roll over and let the left pick our candidates, we are going to continue get our A@@’s handed to us. Because conservatives will not turn out for candidates like Rudy McRomney. On the otherhand, when you get conservatives, who outnumber liberals 2 to 1, energized good things happen. Remember, How they trashed Reagan, Old, an idiot, bumbeling B movie actor etc. And he won in landslides.
BUT, after watching last night... I have got to say... Palin is a generous!
What we are witnessing is the future of politics, and she is going to DESTROY Obama is 2012.
It's considered "unpresidential" because the current "president" would never venture into venues like that. He'd scream like a banshee the first time he'd break one of his manicured nails.
Did you mean "genius?"
wow! I had completely forgotten about Putin!
I agree completely, this show is changing everything we know about presidential politics, FOREVER.
Yes I meant genius :P
forgot to check the spellchecker :O
Oh, I’m concerned.
And I’m going to address that concern by doing all I can for her, should she decide to run.
There’s no one else in the ‘potential’ pool who’s been doing half as much as she, over the past two years, to combat the O-genda. Mitt? Newt? Tim? Hello? The attitude seemed to be, well, elections have consequences. Hers seems to be, we got blocked up the middle, flank ‘em.
Yep. And she’s just about in tears in the Teaser. Imagine that. She is something!
I didn’t hear that one! I did here her aside in narration, “I wonder if Bristol is picturing anyone in particular,” while Bristol was clubbing the fish.
hmmmm I can think of ONE person, right of the top of my head
LOL! Was pretty sure that’s what you meant.
I love her, the wife loves Todd. We get a kick out of the back and forth between them, because we do the same. Teasing her about being a grandma? Yep. Juicy? Yep. Messing with her at the shooting range? Yep.
They’re real people. What a kick.
And yes, we got a laugh over the ‘we want Todd’s autograph’ moments.
Loved the show...AWESOME
“......Theres no one else in the potential pool whos been doing half as much as she, over the past two years, to combat the O-genda. Mitt? Newt? Tim? Hello?”.............
Yes, you are right. In fact, all of these guys seem to be doing their level best to stay out of the fray....it seems to me, that they want to AVOID tackling the disaster that is the Obama administration head on. Not Sarah, nope, not her. She dives in, head first, and does battle. And damn it!! this battle NEEDS to be fought..... and NOW.
God bless her!! All these others, especially Mitt, are doing their best to avoid the flack.... Sarah Palin is drawing it, and on purpose.... NOW, because the country cannot afford to dilly dally around. Too much is at stake.
Man, I truly despise these RINOs, and all the others who see themselves as.....somehow important, these ‘elites’! They want business as usual, only with one of THEM in charge. NUTS TO THAT!
Whew, I need some more coffee, lol.
Who sings the theme song to her show?
Do they club other fish?
Nope the clubbing was just for the halibut.
A 1980's oldie...by comedian Kip Addotta...
It was April the Forty-first, being a quadruple leapyear; I was driving in downtown Atlantis.
My Barracuda was in the shop, so I was in a rented Stingray, and it was overheating.
So I pulled into a Shell station; they said I'd blown a seal.
I said, "Fix the damn thing and leave my private life out of it, okay, pal?"
While they were doing that, I walked over to a place called the Oyster Bar.
A real dive. But I knew the owner; he used to play for the dolphins. I said, "HI GILL!" (You have to yell, he's hard of herring.)
Gill was also down on his luck.
Fact is, he was barely keeping his head below water. I bellied up to the sandbar; he poured the usual: Rusty Snail, hold the grunion, shaken, not stirred.
With a peanut butter and jellyfish sandwich on the side, heavy on the mako.
I slipped him a fin, on porpoise. I was feeling good; I even dropped a sand dollar in the box for Jerry's Squids, for the halibut.
Well, the place was crowded. We were packed in like sardines. They were all there to listen to the big band sounds of Tommy Dorsal.
What sole. Tommy was rockin' the place with a very popular tuna, "Salmonchanted Evening", and the stage was surrounded by screaming groupers,
Probably there to see the bass player.
One of them was this cute little yellowtail, and she was givin' me the eye. So I figured this was my chance for a little fun. You know, piece of Pisces.
But she said things I just couldn't fathom.
She was too deep, seemed to be under a lot of pressure.
Boy, could she drink. She drank like a...
She drank a lot.
I said, "What's your sign?"
She said, "Aquarium."
I said, "Great! Let's get tanked!"
I invited her up to my place for a little midnight bait.
I said, "C'mon baby, it'll only take a few minnows."
She threw me that same old line: "Not tonight, I got a haddock."
And she wasn't kidding, either, cause in came the biggest, meanest looking haddock I'd ever seen come down the pike.
He was covered with mussels. He came over to me; he said, "Listen, Shrimp.
Don't you come trollin' around here." What a crab.
This guy was steamed. I could see the anchor in his eyes.
I turned to him and I said, "Abalone! You're just being shellfish."
Well, I knew there was going to be trouble, and so did Gill, cause he was already on the phone to the cods.
The haddock hits me with a sucker punch. I catch him with a left hook.
He eels over. It was a fluke, but there he was, lying on the deck, flat as a mackerel, kelpless.
I said, "Forget the cods, Gill. This guy's going to need a sturgeon.
Well, the yellowtail was impressed with the way I landed her boyfriend.
She came over to me; she said, "Hey, big boy, you're really a game fish. What's your name?"
I said, "Marlin."
Well, from then on we had a whale of a time. I took her to dinner;
I took her to dance; I bought her a bouquet of flounders. And then I went home with her.
And what did I get for my trouble? A case of the clams
If I remember correctly the judges make the ultimate decision because Tuesday there is no time for viewer voting.
Let's all hope that if Bristol does not appear to be the best then if Kyle is kicking it up a notch then he should get it. Say no to jennifer, the more I think about it, the more I am convinced she is not an amateur and should not have even been on the show. That is not what the Show was supposed to be about, and she is really looking nasty.
Thanks... I’ve seen differing times for the show to end tonight. In fact, I saw one report that said DWTS goes from 8-9:15 tonight!
I enjoyed the second episode very much, but I thought the editor messed it up a bit. There were too many repetitions of Sarah Palin explaining why she thought it was important for Bristol to get out into nature and away from the spotlight. Explaining it twice would have been enough.
The repetition made Palin look weaker, like she felt she had to keep explaining herself and her choices, or that she isn’t together enough to know she’s repeating herself.
Maybe it was a conscious choice to repeat the message in order to explain to viewers who might only tune in for a brief time?
ROTFLOL..I know this thread is dead, but I had to laugh. I think you have invented a new Freeper faux pax. She's a generous! That is hugh and series.
You’ll be saying repeatedly until Palin loses to Obama in a landslide in 2012 or passes her first budget in 2013 —one that makes Obama’s last one look relatively sane by comparison —assuming the government hasn’t already gone into default by then. So she’s into mountain climbing. Woot. I don’t go for this being “presidential” bullcrap, but gimmickry is not going to turn this country around. It isn’t even postponing the inevitable.
Oh I so enjoyed her show last night. It was funny when she said her friends gave her a baby shower at the shooting range. It would get the libs all wee wee’d up!
Where can I catch a replay? I was busy with something else.
