TSA chief: Body scan boycott would be mistake

WASHINGTON (AP) - With one of the year's busiest traveling days fast approaching, the Obama administration's top transportation security official on Monday urged passengers angry over safety procedures not to boycott airport body scans.

John Pistole said in nationally broadcast interviews he understands public concerns about privacy in the wake of the Transportation Security Administration's tough new airline boarding security checks.

But at the same time, he said a relatively small proportion of the 34 million people who have flown since the new procedures went into effect have had the body pat downs that have come under withering criticism in recent days.

I’d have to fly to go south to see my sister. Driving that far with mt bad back is painful. So I guess I don’t go visiting because they will not get the chance to abridge my 4th Amendment rights.

John Pistole is a failed FBI field investigator now running a blue-shirt political police force.

Anybody on this forum vote for Pistole? This guy could be impeached.

Not going to work.

A few years back Penn Jillette was fondled by a TSA screener, and he complained. The result? They made fondling part of the policy, legal. See the mentality?

If we boycott based on an option we have they’ll just make it mandatory.

John Pistole is in charge of a security system that selects people for further examination based on their place in line.

That might be a suitable method for quality control on a production line, but neither he nor anyone else is attempting to manufacture passengers for airplanes.

The biggest problem with his method is that 90% or more of the terrorists it seeks to deter are making it through to get on board airplanes!

That situation is patently unacceptable!

Tell ya what folks ... there’s a lot of us with “bionic” parts ... we don’t need the “jingle bell”. An artificial knee rings the bell every time ... so it’s not about “opting out” .. many of us don’t have a choice. Since I will “ring the bell” anyway Wednesday, I’m opting out ... nothing like joining a protest line (that I would already be in anyway).

I don’t plan to fly on National Opt-Out Day, but I promise I will opt out whenever I fly. The genital grope takes much longer than the nude scan, so they’ll have to change the policy if enough of us opt out. I will let my groper know I believe they are conducting an illegal search under the 4th Amendment. I don’t have to risk the $11,000 fine or my job (if I can’t travel) by refusing both the scan and grope, but I can avoid penalties AND disrupt the system by electing the grope and taking my sweet time in the process. I encourage others to join me.

I think your right. It’s either that, or they are totally inept. Perhaps both?

The body scanners aren't for security, it is to discover evidence to be used in prosecution in or seizure of items on a list the TSA can't even bother to print and post at the airport. If you want to randomly find out what is on the list, go ahead and walk through the scanners and submit to a virtual strip search.

But don't delude yourself that this has anything to do with security of the flying public. They refuse to profile, they refuse to confront CAIR, and they refuses to back down from this invasive scanner.

We really need to undercut the authority the TSA is using, first and foremost, go to the county or city that runs the airport and get the laws changed to explicitly photograph the actions of screeners at airports. When they can't hide behind more theft and intimidation to cover up their thefts and intimidation, this can finally start to resolve.

And just remember, like the Orlando federal court house, these scanners are going to be deployed everywhere. Boycott flying? Sure, that's one idea, but do you deny yourself the ability to go into a court house? A federal building?

Well, if the TSA chief thinks it's a bad idea...

......then OPT OUT!!!!

If there was ever a sure thing, when a scammer or a criminal, or someone trying to steal your rights says, “It's not a good idea” then you know for certain that it is the best thing to do to accomplish your goal.

I also plan to opt out. I don’t want any more radiation than necessary.

I will also continue to protest this idiotic “security” nonsense.

Bullsquat! In the past week ever person from work who has travelled has been both scanned and groped.

I say “Bristol ‘em”! Then when the TSA molests them, call the police and charge them with ‘Sexual Molestation, and ‘Unreasonable Search and Seizure’. Napolitano, Pistole and his minions all should have their names put on the National Register of Sexual Offenders Database.

Mr. Pistole:

You can head off the boycott easily. Either

1) Change your draconian grope-and-grab policy; or
2) Resign.

See? It’s not complicated.
