JFK, for all his personal flaws, was the last anti-Communist, pro-defense Democrat President. He also believed tax cuts would stimulate the economy.

I was listening to radio coverage from Dallas station WFAA of the motorcade and Kennedy’s visit, which included the preparations for his lunch meeting at the Convention Center. The newscaster was describing the precautions taken on behalf of the President, that a random meal would be selected from those prepared, etc. and that security was enhanced at the Center. Shortly after 12:30 came the first report of explosions, possibly gunshots near the motorcade. A few minutes later were reports that the motorcade had sped to Parkland Hospital. Then came an unconfirmed report that the President had been shot in the head. I believe all this occurred before 1PM and before the national news broke on the event. Once we heard that he suffered a head shot, we knew he was probably dead...

It was a gut wrenching experience.

I was a young adult, living in Houston. I saw JFK in a motorcade in downtown Houston the evening before he was killed in Dallas. Although I was not very interested in politics, I was aware of Vice President Johnson’s reputation; and my first thought when I heard that JFK was shot — was that Johnson COULD have been behind it. That was my first instinct; an honest response. On second thought, I discounted it because I didn’t want to think the worse of Johnson. My thinking now is that the force behind the assassination was either (1) the mafia or (2) Cuba. And that someone in the Secret Service was complicit.

I was 13 when this happened and have been a buff on the subject ever since. LBJ was one of the most dangerous, despicable scum bags to ever infest American politics - but I don't believe he had anything to do with this.

After 40+ years of reading books on this subject, and most of the related actors - my long last conclusion is that this was a Mafia honor killing.

Oswald was involved only as a patsy.

“Who really cares anymore, other than a bunch of aging media types?”

A dumb question.

I don't mean to be condescending to you; but his assassination was a huge event in our history.
The ripples still affect us today.

What if he would have survived? The Cold War and Vietnam for starters, would have looked differently.
I think the romance with the Kennedy's would grown old as another factor.

Yes. He was a shill. Ballistically and trajectorily it has been proven that, being where he was in the TSBD building , it would have been impossible for him to have fired the shots that hit and ultimately killed Kennedy. There exist photographs of two other marksmen on the grassy knoll with rifles and scopes who did in fact fire the fatal shots. They were professional French snipers and were exactly where they needed to be to fire two shots almost simultaneously which matched exactly the trajectories which would have been necessary to create the entrance wounds found on the President. The Warren Commission report accepts the trajectories then makes a mockery of scientific analysis by attributing the shots to Oswald, drawing ridiculous graphs showing bullets making left and right turns on their own. Oswald, an ex-Marine shill, a second-rate marksman holding an antiquated weapon in a location from which not even today’s smart ballistics could have made the entrance wounds found on the President, could not have fired the two shots because the time elapsed between the shots did not provide anyone, much less Oswald, the chance to reload and re-fire the kind of rifle found in the TSBD and attributed to Oswald as the weapon used in the assassination.

Long disproven. Conspiracies are fun and the truth is final and boring, but give it up.. Oswald killed the man on 22 Nov 1963.

Read Vince Bugliosi's "Reclaiming History." Oswald, on one occasion in the Marines, tested exceptionally high on the range.

I understand he was also opposed to the Fed Reserve’s(it is not a USA but a world banking entity) control over the USA money commerce. He had millions of USA government notes printed ,backed up by our gold, to replace Wilson’s world order Fed Reserve dollars. The world bankers at the time could not/would not let this stand. Drastic action was needed. The question in my mind is whether JFK was included in such drastic action, Think Rothchilds and Europe, Oswald and Russia, Sorros and WWII and last but not least the Bildeberger cabal. Wow! Isn’t this stuff for a who done it/who does it mystery novel.

I was in third grade, in (Catholic) school. There was commotion in the hallway, and my teacher left the classroom briefly to see what was the trouble. I heard agitated voices, and I think someone said “shot” or something like that. At the end of second grade, Pope John XXIII died, and the Mother Superior came on the PA and asked us to pray for him. This seemed like kind of a re-play of that. When I got home, my mother told me what had happened. She was quite agitated, and it frightened me to see her so upset about someone so far away being killed. I wasn’t really clear about who President Kennedy was, or why he was important.

I remember train tracks on TV, hour upon hour, the next day. My favorite TV shows were preempted.

Have to wonder what the motivation might be in defending a federal cover-up and insisting those who have argued factually against the government’s conclusions are nothing but conspiracy theorists. The Warren Commission Report selectively omitted ballistics and trajectory and timing evidence, which, had it been considered, would have immediately eliminated Oswald as the assassin. As I have indicated in my post. Ballistics testing and trajectories don’t get “disproven”. The minimum time it takes to reload a specific rifle and fire it twice can be measured. This was tested hundreds of times by marksmen with more ability and time to practice than Oswald had. None of them were able to fire two shots with as little time elapsed between the two as occurred in Dallas that day. The two shots could not have come from the same rifle fired by the same assassin. This is only one contradiction among others such as trajectory and entrance wound location. Facts don’t lie. Commissions and governments do.

I wasn't born then, but I've handled a rifle like the murder weapon, and I don't think there's any way he made that shot with that piece-of-crap Carcano. Maybe he was supposed to have made the shot, but he waited too long or something, but I believe there were other snipers.

And the ballistics analysis? BAH! Any rifle shooter knows that bullet fragment analysis is nearly irrelevant for a projectile traveling over 2000 feet per second out of the muzzle. If they found intact bullets at the scene, they were planted.

“What did you think of the Double Cross book/hypothesis?”

Actually, that is one of several books that lead to my conclusion. That and the fact the FBI has wiretaps of Mafia heads, plotting revenge against Joe Kennedy where one of them remarks, “he'd old, you want to hurt him, take away the thing he's always wanted.”

Being President, and then later having one of his kids be President, was his life long dream. The guys that ran the Mafia back then lived by the feud. You cross them, they will get revenge.

Man, that post stunk before I even finished reading it.

Ballistics and trajectory all fall within the performance characteristics of the Carcano. The low recoil and inherent accuracy of the cartride lend itself to an easy ability to hit a target repeatedly without changing positions.

Kennedy was shot at 270 FEET, not yards, not from the sewer, not from the Grassy Knoll and not from the Dal-Tex building.
He was shot at three times, and hit twice. All by Oswald alone.

Walk Dealey Plaza sometime. The distance is small and the zone is barely 100 yards in length.

With all the conspiracy books written and all the people that would have to be involved, SOMEONE, ANYONE, having anything to do with it would have come forward by now. Deathbed confessions, memoirs, letters, notes, SOMETHING.

But all the conspiracy theorists disagree or leave a critical factor out or miss something entirely, or create something to explain the obvious in other terms. The biggest mistake is the position of Connaly to Kennedy. Connaly sits INBOARD on the jumpseat in front of Kennedy, not directly in front as the conspirists say. That one fact alone dispells all the second gunman theories.

Besides the assassination is not about Kennedy, it's about OSWALD. Follow that trail and there is no other conclusion based on the evidence. Oswald from the TSBD with 2 of 3 shots.

Thanks for correcting me. Those are long-ago memories, and are kind of conflated in my mind, I suppose. They're kind of all in what might be called my "disaster folder" of childhood, which also includes a bunch of men standing on a hotel room balcony pointing at a point above them and and in the distance, an image of Bobby Kennedy looking at the ceiling, and the voice of Jim McKay saying "they're all gone."
