I was stationed at Whidbey Island back in the 80s. You can have some crazy weather there. I think we got about 15” of snow the week before Thanksgiving (’85 I think) but none the rest of the winter to speak of.

The ferry ride is about 1 1/2 hours... it’s about 19 miles across. I think the “passenger only” Express takes about 1 hour.

P.A. does get snow at sea level, but it’s seldom all that bad, if at all. I’m told that today they had about 6 inches.

“.... you can sit on your deck (facing north) and see the lights of Victoria, Canada; you can look out your window (facing south) and see the incredibly beautiful Olympics.”

You just described my property, are we neighbors?

Bristol Palin’s fault.

From the tremors caused by those thunder thighs?

6 inches is like WoW at sea level. Our two major 100 year floods (55&64) happened in La Nina years when our mountains had snow early and often and then a warm south pacific connection rolled in and it rained and it rained which also melted the snow and the rest is well documented...

I remember one of those times. We actually had a little bit on the ground.

Up here, we’ve got about half a foot, and it’s sleeting now.

Then tonight, we get the hard freeze.

Why the heck did I move up here, anyhow?

Port Angeles is getting what we here in the Great Lakes call “Lake Effect Snow”...

Just another excuse to send everyone back to the gate for a re-groping procedure.

Wow! I’m over in Bellingham and it is freezing over here with high winds, but we only got a couple inches of snow on Friday night. Over here the winds are out of the north so maybe the cold air from Frasier Valley and the wet Pacific air are meeting over your house.

Kinda reminds me of deicing jetBlue last season. Hour and a half to get there, mile-long death walk from Federal Circle to where I had to be, then do a 20-something hour shift, all while on little to no sleep.

I won’t miss it this season. So yeah, I know how bad it can be when the rain/sleet and snow are coming down. Good luck to those crews.

Well, it’s a port ya know. Generally they’re at sea level.

That’s a lot of snow. I’m north of Seattle and we’ve got a few inches, lots of wind, and mid 20s. Seattle is a disaster when it snows. Side note: I love it up there by PA - a friend lives on Disco Bay and we spend quite a bit of time up there.

Yes, it is a lot. Normally we don’t get this much snow all at once.

We have lived in this house for about 30 years and the worst we have ever experienced was in about 1998 ... it was over 4 feet. Roof and full structures failed all over the county. Ours held up.

That spring I had a metal roof installed and I doubled the strength on the roof structure. I also spent 2 weeks under the house beefing up the foundation. Our house was built in the late 1800’s, so with it being so new, I figure she’ll hold up for a few more years. ;>)

I like the Disco Bay area too... we enjoy the entire Peninsula and as you know, it has much to offer.

Stay safe......
