Many Evangelicals are not aware of Huck’s big government tendencies. He just seems like a safe choice as he is an Evangelical and a likeable fellow. When I inform other Evangelicals of Huck’s positions they back off quickly and almost always default to Palin.
There’s no way that Romney or Gingrich get much of that vote. DeMint or Pence would, but not those two.
Yes, you’re right, it’s another form of “divide and conquer” and Huckabee is willing to go along with it. I’m certain he;s dying to run.
“Huckabee and Palin inhabit largely the same space”
Hardly.
UGH. That's crazy, but I most assuredly believe you.
Could be... :)
LOL. I see that you and I hold him in the same regard...lol.
Here in Iowa, Huckabee has the pro-life Christian vote wrapped up. Without him in the race, I think they would naturally gravitate to Palin.
When I tell them he’s not a conservative, their response is so what? He’s a CHRISTIAN!!
You wish.
BTW, saying something doesn't make it so. Huckabee is virtually without influence.
I got called “cruel and low” for posting it last night on the Frum thread....LOLOLOL.
Never mind that it was his official Christmas card one year when he was governor.
I’ve said this for months and it is totally dead on. For Palin to get a huge bounce in the primaries, she needs to get rid of Clemency Huck first. I, frankly, don’t see the appeal of Huckabee but all the polls show he’s even with Palin and I believe Palin picks up most (not all) or Huck’s voters if Huckabee either doesn’t run or bows out early.
But beware. There’s a bible verse about women not having authority over men and while I believe that is directed at the leadership of the church, some evangelicals believe it translates to leadership of the country as well. Based on that, they may not support Sarah simply due to her gender.
(As a side note, there’s also a verse about the deacons of the church must be the husband of one wife - i.e. never divorced - and refused to vote for Reagan for that reason. Reagan still won big)
You’re right.
What?
Huck, Rudy, and Newt may well go away, but I can pretty much guarantee you Mitt will not. He thinks he is entitled, and unless he is the subject of a major scandal, he is going to be in for the long run. He is also loaded with money and a competent debater. To beat him, we are going to have to earn it. I have no problem dismissing the others, but Romney is going to be a pain in the ass.
Your comments are right in line with t-dude’s. I like that you refer to him as Clemency Huck.
t-dude, those people aren’t concerned that he pardoned criminals and that one went onto murder police officers in Washington state?
Huckabee was the pardon/clemency king of governors.
If the Huckster didn’t have a chance against the weak rino McCain - anyone thinking he has a chance against PATRIOT SARAH is eating too much propaganda. The same for the mitten with his big gov’t mindset.
GO SARAH!
Yikes. I never thought of that.
Internet search:
“Huckabee dog boyscouts”
Evaluate the various narratives as you wish.
Perhaps an ugly, isolated incident. One hopes so, anyway.
No NEWT! He’s as different from SARAH as night is to day.
