The U.S. Air Force is ready to respond immediately if hostilities between the two Koreas escalate, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz said Wednesday. Schwarz told reporters after North Korea's attack on Yeonpyeong Island, "The bottom line is that U.S. Forces Korea cetainly is monitoring the situation carefully."

He mentioned Osan and Gunsan in South Korea, Kaneda in Okinawa, Japan, and other U.S. Air Force bases in the Pacific to emphasize that the U.S. has plenty of firepower in the region. Schwarz added USFK Commander Gen. Walter Sharp "has operational control of Air Force assets that reside on the peninsula and can be augmented if required."

Ready to strike camp, or ready to strike? I guess it depends on which Obama wakes up that morning.

Was that statement cleared with Barry, or is it boilerplate “we stand ready to defend ROK”, etc.

” ‘Ready To Strike’ If Korean Tensions Escalate “

Has our Strategic Alert Level been updated - and under what circumstances does the Theater-Commander have “Weapons Free” authority??

Kaneda in Okinawa, Japan

That's Kadena in English.

I was thinking written by Barry’s children that are running the show. Didn’t seem like something that would have been said by someone at that level under previous presidents.

So far NORK has sunk a S.Korean ship and bombarded their marines. What more does it take to retaliate? So they can probably do anything they want to further humiliate S.Korea and the US.

Just now took a brief history lesson on LeMay thanks to your reference.

The guy knew how to kill people and break things. That’s for sure.

They better keep an eye on Taiwan too. There’s too much ‘look at me’ from North Korea going on. With a weak U.S. president it could be the perfect time for the Chicoms to make a move against Taipei.

Tell us, Schwartzie, the difference in sortie rate from Kaneda as opposed to Andersen?

Americans helped humiliate themselves by electing the muslim and trading liberty for a TV clicker.

ALL TV covers for Hussein yet the idiots keep watching it and empowering him by watching.

Let South Korea start handling this. They have had 41 years to build up their military. The SK’s bought weapons systems to fight a war with Japan.

Bingo - we have a winner! WTF should one more American die in Korea?
Sixty years after the Korean War and they can't defend themselves? TFB.
