"TSA has a long list of “disqualifying offenses” for employment at the federal agency that operates airport security...Regan checked the list and found that it did not include misdemeanor offenses of harassing and stalking."

Well that's comforting... (/sarc)

I was just thinking that ‘normal’ people working as TSA security will probably try to find other work and leave when possible to avoid the unpleasant job and the public’s reaction to them. At the same time, abnormal people will be watching on TV, with sick interest, the outrage and specifics of the invasive pat downs and they will try to hire on so that, over time, TSA agents should self select to be largely comprised of people who ‘need’ to touch others offensively and laugh while they object or snicker as the passenger is detained by police for resisting.

Well, no offense but after the last couple weeks, a hell of a lot MORE TSA agents now have records of multiple sexual assaults.

Perhaps they view it as a qualifier rather than a dis-qualifier.

I wouldn’t be surprised if something like that happened.

Considering what they do, I would appreciate people that weren't prone to strange behaviors regarding the opposite sex. It takes a lot of weird, scary behavior to get convicted of stalking. TSA thinks people like that are qualified to be in close proximity to the public? I wouldn't hire that guy to dish out fries at McDonald's.

When the government wants to have affirmative action they usually lower the bar so as not to exclude certain minorities that may have “minor “ criminal or juvenile offenses.

Our local police department has men on it that have convictions..

I have no doubt this is in play here .

The latest scare is Tampon bombs...

We're worried about Tampon bombs, while searching and shaking down 3 year old little girls....This beyond BS.

Meanwhile, our borders resemble a lawless Boston Marathon of millions entering illegally, from God Knows where, during war time....

That tractor trailer rig that crossed the border, that is now parked at the Dallas Walmart, might have something a bit more interesting than the typical full 75 illegal aliens...

It was discovered Bush's Homeland Security Chief, Chertoff had people wandering around the inside of his private residence, who were in this country illegally...During war time yet..

This crap is knee deep....It's almost as if their protecting the interest of airlines interest, while the rest of the country is completely over run, with God knows who....

They don’t include misdemeanors and infractions for a reason. Almost every one of us has committed a petty crime in the past and that shuldn’t be a disqualification for employment.

I agree, wouldn’t they prefer to hire personnel with experience?

Really? You’ve never received a traffic ticket in your entire life? I find it hard to believe.

I don’t either.

And even assuming that goldstategop’s argument is true, it would still be logical to exclude hiring of people with certain types of misdemeanors that are problematic in the context of patdowns.

And Obama wants to unionize these guys! Now rumors that the TSA will migrate to other forms of transportation —— only to eventually be decked out in brown shirts, with Lugers on their hips? I would not be surprised if illegal immigrants swarmed to fill the ranks!

They could empty out a bunch of prison cells, just put sexual offenders on work-release with the TSA, they wouldn’t even have to pay them. They could have their sentences revoked after so many hours of service in the TSA.

This from a friend yesterday;

Here’s a solution to all the controversy over full-body scanners at the
airports:

All we need to do is develop a booth that you can step into that will NOT
X-ray you but WILL detonate any explosive device you may have hidden on or
in your body. The explosion will be contained within the sealed booth.
This would be a win-win for everyone. There would be no racial profiling,
nor discrimination, and the device would eliminate long and expensive trials.

This is so simple that it’s brilliant. I can see it now: you’re in the
airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion. Shortly thereafter an
announcement comes over the PA system, “Attention standby passengers, we now have a seat available on flight number....”

Sshh! Don’t give them any ideas...
