How Airports Should Profile Terrorists
Real Clear Politics ^ | Nov. 27, 2010 | Deroy Murdock

America must focus its finite capabilities on those who crave the destruction of planes and the people who ride them.

What would that profile be? Today's threat comes almost exclusively from militant-Islamic males between about 18 and 35 who hail from the Middle East and predominantly Muslim African and south-Asian nations. This profile was not drawn by anti-Muslim bigots, nervous Jews, or paranoid Southern Baptists. The terrorists themselves created this profile.

It's past time to employ terrorist profiling to shield Americans from those who want to murder us.

Speaking of profiling — see this recently posted article, this guy wasn’t a Christian blonde American either... Somali-Born Teenager Held in Oregon Bomb Sting

And if you see his picture, he could pass for any black American. He was a naturalized citizen, so if he didn't use the Muslim name, he would blend in perfectly and nobody would know.

It is a similar problem with firearms. Most states use your driver's license as ID when purchasing a firearm.

The problem is, most states hand out driver licenses like candy at Halloween, undermining the entire system.

Hence, we have criminals from one state getting a driver license in another, thereby, "cleansing" their criminal record.

At worst, TSA officers might encounter a bomb-wielding passenger who matches the terrorist profile, but then breeze him through security so he doesn't feel uncomfortable. The result could be the sky-high calamity that Americans have feared since September 11.

Big Sis Nurse Ratched has instructed the SS TSA well - the above is more likely than we'd like to think...

It also helps when you only have 2 airports in the entire country.

Nobody is suggesting we don’t need to profile.

The Israeli method is great and wise. Couple that with bomb-sniffing dogs and solid identity control and you will have a system that can work.

No, you can’t identify potential terrorist just by looking at them, but you can by talking to them and observing them.

If you put all the passenger going onto a plane into a waiting room, and asked them to mingle together for five minutes, and then asked the each of the passengers to make a list of the 10 passengers that should be screened further, I guarantee you would have a lot of consistency in the lists.

I make a mental list of people nearby whenever I’m on a train, a plane, or any crowded place. The government is not going to keep you and your family alive, especially when you are not on a plane. We have to do our own screening. People have an innate sense about people who are acting strangely.

Is this “discrimination”?

Yes.

Might Muslims and foreigners from certain parts of the world feel uncomfortable about this?

Yes.

Did they bring it on themselves by harboring and fostering suicidal killers in their midst?

Yes.

Bomb dogs are really great, but not entirely practical. They can’t work 8 hr shifts & stay in full drive. So you need quite a lot of dogs & handlers.

Finding the genetically right dogs & getting then trained is a project. That said, the use of good dogs is one of the few truly good uses of taxpayer money.

Ten minutis studying the problem says that we should profile. Muslims should raise a warning flag. But will this happen? When pigs fly. We are ruled by idiots.

The article says they use “university students” to do the profiling.

Boy, howdy. I’m not sure I’d want to rely on American college kids to decide who gets on my plane . . .

What do you do when they stop using Muslim names and travel using documentations that identifies them clearly?

After 9/11 I had a conversation with a young Muslim friend who was appalled he wasn't check more thoroughly a few weeks later when he flew... he didn't feel airline security people were being kind or open minded - he felt they were putting his life at risk. As he said, the people who might fly an airplane into a building would look like him. And he didn't want to die so American liberals could feel they were 'inclusive'.

Time to get real - it's time for Janet to resign. The only good thing about the TSA is they act as unsuspecting recruiters for the Republican party. The TSA showcases control freak democrats to our advantage. TSA unionized democrats on "PC" speed politically work for us...they are the face of liberal totalitarian thuggery. But it doesn't work for the country. It's time for change - the man who wrote this piece is right - there are better ways.

Kinda reminds me of what Dick Gregory said about the Vietnam war;

'It would have been cheaper to just have given them all $50,000 dollars!"

Dick Gregory was funny - involved in the civil rights movement BEFORE the three kids were killed in the south... kind of an insightful guy. Didn’t he turned bitter and uber liberal? Who knows, maybe he would side with the Establishment (now liberal) and the TSA in this time...

Your question: Where is sanity?

Not evident at US airports where profiling would have been a lot cheaper, a lot less invasive upon most Americans, a lot more respective of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights and a lot more effective than the fiasco going on now.

FBI thwarts terrorist bombing attempt at Portland holiday tree lighting, authorities say

Snip: Mohamed Osman Mohamud, 19, a Somali-born U.S. citizen, was arrested at 5:42 p.m., 18 minutes before the tree lighting was to occur, on an accusation of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction. The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine.

“The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine.”

Let’s hope that’s exactly what this murderous little piece of garbage gets.

All we need to do is hire a few people from El Al as consultants or even as full-time administrators. We could save billions, and avoid having innocent Americans irradiated and groped.

The investigative arm of the Homeland Security Department appears to be shutting down websites that facilitate copyright infringement. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has seized dozens of domain names over the past few days, according to TorrentFreak. ICE appears to be targeting sites that help Internet users download copyrighted music, as well as sites that sell bootleg goods, such as fake designer handbags. The sites are replaced with a note from the government: “This domain named has been seized by ICE, Homeland Security Investigations.”

MEANWHILE, THERE CONTINUES TO BE NO EFFORT TO SEIZE ILLEGALS IN ARIZONA.
