PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Passengers may be unhappy over long lines and enhanced security at the airports, but it’s a feeling shared by many at TSA.
“There’s a lot more tension both by officers, fellow officers, and passengers,” one Pittsburgh TSA officer told KDKA’s Jon Delano in an exclusive interview.
TSA officers don’t like the new aggressive pat-downs of passengers either.
“I truly feel that it is morally and ethically wrong to do it,” the agent noted. “This does not make flying safer. It’s just taking away American citizens rights.” And all the horror stories at other airports only make things worse.
“Everybody shudders when they hear that because they know that is not what we’re supposed to be doing,” the agent said.
“The push-back is starting. Believe me, it is.”
I don’t see it, what am I missing? I feel so helpless!!
I have left two jobs this last year because I was unwilling to follow the companies unethical and/or unsafe practices. This last time I was without work for 4 months, but that is all right. I still have my integrity and now I am back on a project for a few months.
Earlier this year I complimented the security team (TSA?) at Fairbanks International. Very calm, professional, crisp uniforms, even helpful, no bullying, no over-the-top searches. Almost military bearing, which in my mind is a plus. I expressed the hope that they can keep it up.
To Ethical TSA Agents Everywhere Contemplating Quitting:
Well you could not quit AND not do the crime. The whole point of a federal job is it doesn’t even exist, theoretically, without the sanction of the Constitution and the People. Make them take it away from you, because that job doesn’t belong to the criminals; it belongs to *us.* Quitting is ceding territory to the enemy and you don’t have to surrender. If you just quit, the regime can find others who will behave as criminals to take your place and increase their numbers, and their control, in the federal ranks, but for the moment, you hold that hill; transform that job by insisting on doing what’s right, and don’t give it up without a fight. Every person of conscience who holds a federal job is a shield against the encroaching darkness; we need you there fighting, not just for yourself, but for all of us.

How about “To Waffen SS officers contemplating quitting”.
If you do the crime you are a criminal. It really doesn’t matter if you disapproved of the crime you did.
I betcha they are big time. I’m sure that the flying public not being happy about this is helping that along as well.
These people are on the front lines.
Appreciate that they are as outraged as us.

Unfortunately, there are many “morally and ethically” corrupt jackasses that are willing and eager to take this guy’s job.

Yep, your probably right. I’ve heard they don’t even screen the TSA agents. Not sure how true that is.

Keep reminding Congress the methods are unacceptable. It can stop this.
I work for a defense contractor. I thought I was working for freedom.
Under Bush they said I could be fired for having tobacco in my car.
I’m still here, bitching and making people think, why would you take a mans livelihood for something that is legal?
It’s all a load of shit.
I call this stuff pressure politics, the pressure interview.
Spill it, whop them upside the head, tell them who you are and beware what you have revealed to them.
We have to fight from all sides.
We have the local legislation’s and Congress, lets get busy.

Per the TSA agent the elderly get the worst of it and he states that it is ridiculous.
They have given pilots a pass and air crews a pass.
They are backpedaling fast.
Ever hear of the Sherman experiment? Similar to Milgram, except that the subjects were given an opportunity in advance to reflect on the ethical dimensions of certain acts. When they were later asked to perform those acts, two thirds refused. Our TSA agents are more like Sherman’s people than Milgram’s, because the horridness of the molestations is being daily held before them; the moral recalibration of the Sherman process is occurring.
May I also suggest we could enhance and accelerate the Sherman Effect if we could find individuals in or near the organization and walk them through some moral reflection on their actions. It is right to fear where the moral gullibility of our friends and neighbors in the TSA could lead, but we are not the Weimar Republic. We have travelled a different path to get where we are now, we have much better resources, and a much better chance at mass public education to counteract the propaganda than they did. This does not have to end badly.
