Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah is causing his own diplomatic drama at a New York City hospital, where the 86 year-old monarch has commandeered an entire wing as he recovers from back surgery on the VIP floor.
King Abdullah -- who repeatedly exhorted the U.S. to "cut the head off the snake" by launching military strikes to destroy Iran's nuclear program, according to leaked diplomatic cables -- has forced other patients out by block-booking top treatment and recovery rooms at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan.
A family member of one patient told us, "The king has taken the entire luxury treatment wing and booked out all the rooms, even though they are empty and he doesn't need them, to protect his privacy.

Who does he think he is? Michelle Obama?
Of course, because he is more important than everyone else. I wonder how many Mosques of hate he has funded.
They tell me a Saudi paid the Mayo Clinic to add a whole floor to one of their buildings and furnish it to his specifications.
One question, if the socialized medical care countries like Cuba and China and Great Britain, why isn’t he going there to get care?
Were not 17 of the 9-11 killers Saudis? Where did they get their money? And why is this pompous arse coming to America for back surgery? Shouldn’t he be in Britain or Canada where there is socialized medicine? The best in the world according to friggin socialist liberal democrats.

This doesn’t just affect VIPs. When my Aunt was dying of glioma, my Uncle booked her into one of these NY hospital VIP suites with the cash they had been saving up for a year-long round the world “cruise of a lifetime” they’d been planning to take the following year. They weren’t VIPs, but the extra comfort certainly improved their lives for a little bit.

Is that because Canada and Cuba’s healthcare system is so wonderful that he is coming here for care? remind me again, Olbermann and Maddow.
I worked for 20 years at a world famous hospital routinely frequented by various members of the Saudi Royal Family. We’d often get reports from interns and residents telling of how demeaning it was to babysit them and snap to attention every time they issued an order.
I am glad he went to a NY hospital. The traffic in the Houston Medical Center is bad enough.
My favorite story on that general subject was from about a year ago stating that the Premier of one of Canada's provinces...which is the equivalent of our state Governors....needed heart surgery and decided *not* to go to Montreal,Toronto,Ottawa or Vancouver...or to the UK (or Cuba) to have it done.
Well,I'm sure you can guess the rest.
Yes,he came to that worthless backwater of world medicine, the United States of America.
A glaring example as to why we NEVER want to have a King or an absolute ruler.
Just curious.
Does anybody know if the US President gets a whole floor or wing when hospitalized? It would seem to make security easier to maintain.
. After leaving Cleveland and in gratitude for the security that the Cleveland Police extended to the family , they built a gymnasium for the department to use. Quite generous indeed.
Is the the guy Bush was smooching on and holding hands with?
No, I think that was King Fahd, this is King Abdullah.
