WASHINGTON (AP) -- The top Senate Democrat said Tuesday he'd move to force a test vote this week on a measure to give tens of thousands of young illegal immigrants a path to legal status.
Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he'd move to schedule action on the so-called Dream Act, which would give more than 100,000 young immigrants brought to the United States before the age of 16 a chance to become legal residents if they attend college or join the military.

It is a crime this imbecile was reelected.
The first weeks of the R’s coming back have given me heartburn. I have no hope of R’s having a backbone. We will see.
In Before the NRA Types Defending Harry Reid (IBNTDHR).
Attend college for free, or just with in-state tuition? /s
This Lame Duck session is just as dangerous as any other time these wankers meet.
You mean "smuggled illegal aliens", right?
I hope the people in Arizona that re-elected this damned fool are real proud of themselves.
What’s preventing them from becoming naturalized citizens?
Why amnesty except as a precedent. What next? Citizenship for voting democrat?
..JUST ANOTHER "LAW" THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT ENFORCE!
.....if anyone interested would look further into it...ALL THE LAW REQUIRES IS YOU REGISTER FOR MILITARY.....OR COLLEGE....registering
>>become legal residents if they attend college or join the military.<<
I generally speaking am against illegal immigration and the sins of the parents are indeed visited on the children (if a man robs a bank and is put in prison, the kids suffer — it is just part of life).
But for this one, I am willing to split the baby. Serve 4 years in the military in a spot available for active duty deployment and I think permanent residency is a proper reward.
If those in or from the armed forces disagree then I am open to argument.
The folks in Arizona are not guilty. It was unions in Nevada that returned this criminal to the Senate. But hey, he’s their criminal.
If people want to stop Harry Reid cold, they should get the book I wrote to Rush or Glenn Beck. Trust me, I’ve tried.

Actually, I wrote the book on Harry, click my name instead. A faux pas.
You can try you silly bugger but it is never going to happen. America already has a means for people to become citizens. Worked for hundreds of years no reason to change now.
The military is already open to foreigners and has been for some time. For those who complete their service honorably citizenship is available to them.
Dang! Beat me to it!
Something called the rule of law. You can't enter this country illegally and expect to get naturalized or have your status legalized.
Our military is not composed of mercenaries. We recruit our force from citizens and legal permanent residents.
We invaded your country. We don't like your laws. Change them especially for us. Or else.
Something tells me that if we give each of them a little American flag to wave and citizenship, they still won't support or uphold the laws of this country.
The open-borders progressives DREAM Act is an electoral nightmare. Its not just an illegal alien student bailout. Its a 2.1 million future Democrat voter recruitment drive. The path to citizenship dangled by Obama is a superhighway to generations of big government-birthed, identity politics-nursed dependents
Right now the military is open only to legal permanent residents (green card holders) not illegals.
Just bring'em all in a take away the jobs that were Harry's constituents. Oh well, this commie group has spread the cancer to the 4th stage & nothing can cure it.
I'm a proponent of legal, controlled immigration. If they are interested in serving our country and can make a positive contribution, I think we should give them precedence over those who would make less of a contribution to our country.
I'm not really opposed to opening up military service to those who wish to become residents and eventually citizens, but I'm not sure how you set up an objective system of who you would accept and also limit the numbers so we don't get a flood of recruits with questionable allegiances.
In the house version there is no upper age limit, so 75 year old illegals could qualify if they met the other requirements.
Under the new DREAM Act, immigrants may qualify in part, by meeting the following requirements which have not been finalized by Congress:
And how do you think he got re-elected?
¡Muchas gracias, amigos!
All anybody, a single republican even, needs to do to get under Harry’s skin and gum up the works is to deny his unanimous consents.
Yet none of them will do it.
I was thinking of the Arizona fiasco re illegals and posted before engaging brain.
No problem, FRiend.

Apparently not — it isn’t being a mercenary to put one’s life on the line for us and just ask that we reward that with recognition of the sacrifice.
I am still quite torn...
Thank you, the idiot voters of Nevada.

I don't want an illegal alien to put their life on the line for me or sacrifice anything for this country. They should just leave. I say that as a veteran who served 8 years in the military including a year in Vietnam. Service in the military is an honor and privilege. There is no quid pro quo for that service.
