Barring a steep drop in crude prices, U.S. motorists can expect to see gas prices exceeding $3 per gallon, if they are not seeing such prices already, according to a new survey of filling stations.

The latest Lundberg Survey of cities in the continental United States was conducted Friday. It showed the national average price for a gallon of self-serve unleaded gasoline at $2.91, an increase of 3.9 cents from the last survey two weeks earlier, survey publisher Trilby Lundberg said.

Seems to be a lot of regional disparity. It’s been $2.50ish here in CO for quite a while.

obama has been punishing Americans from the day he was elected. This tempermental hissy fit he's pitching because no one loves him anymore is more than typical of his cry baby mentality and pre-adolescent mindset.

He seems far too stupid to realize that the same behavior by him that brought on the crush from the people, will just bring him another, larger crush.

He is a pre-teen rebelling against his parents who have told him "NO". We will have to endure a little of his tantrum but he will not win in the end...he is too far gone...politically and mentally.

But, if $3 per gallon is the temporary price to get rid of obamacare - which will cost America much, much more, in both dollars AND in freedom...it will be worth.

It wasn't that long ago that gas was $4 per gallon, we survived and it eventually went back down.

Neutering the obama congress and spaying Pelosi is work a few cents on a gallon of gas; we can all justs cross our fingers that the newbies in the GOP will not shape-shift into RINO's right out of the gate.

Right. But something to keep in mind here is that if the U.S. dollar continues to slide (as I expect it to), then we could very well find ourselves in a situation where we extract more oil right here in the U.S. — and find ourselves exporting much of it to other parts of the world!

Gee, the guy on the radio news said last Friday that we’d see a 15 cent drop by Jan 1. Somebody’s wrong.

Prices here in Memphis are up 10 cents since last week. Some places approaching $2.85 already.

You forget, though, that part of the plan is to kill US production to bring the rest of the world to economic parity with us. Conditions may be ripe for us to uncap some wells, but Obama's Social Justice demands we not use that capacity.

“Yet prices are still below what they were under W.”

That’s Misleading. Pump prices spiked in 2008, but the financial scare had something to do with it. Average pump prices were well under $3.00 a gallon from 2005 through the middle of 2007, except for a brief period just after Katrina hit the Gulf.

Prices bottomed out just before Obama took office, and they’ve been steadily rising ever since:

EIA indicates that for 90 of the 416 weeks Bush was in office was the gasoline higher than what it is right now.

It was a spike absolutely.

Obama wants to increase the gasoline tax. Anybody think that will cause prices to drop?

Big deal, try buying diesel in Alaska, its almost $4 a gallon, more away from civilization or offshore.

Regular in Wasilla, Alaska has been around $3.36 for over a year now, a little higher recently.

These CNN idiots must not have to buy their own gas. Gasoline has been over $3 a gallon for years.
