“This is really the first thing they have “lost?” BECAUSE IF THEY WERE US THEY COULD NOT HANDLE WHAT THEY THROW AT US ON A DAILY BASIS!”

So true!

Maybe I have no imagination, but I don’t see how this could be a useful campaign issue for Obama. If Republicans put forward as weak a candidate as the last one, Obama might win on just about anything. But this is all beside the point. The country doesn’t need a tax increase now. Voters are behind Republicans that want spending cuts, however. Republicans shouldn’t try to be as cynical as the enemy is in order to get rid of Obama. Republicans should instead act on what they ran on: a conservative agenda for saving the country from corrupt, inept, and often treacherous leaders. Let the other side destroy itself.

I can't help but think that this is all a bit of political theater by the Dems. Obama could care less if the taxes increase - it'll all be a part of the plan. But Obama is playing Good Cop to the Congressional Dems' Bad Cop to have the out later on that he tried to compromise with the GOP but effort was scuttled by others.

It’s Kabuki theater at its finest .. next year should be a thrill a minute .. and ‘12 even better.. what a madhouse lies ahead but as long as the Fed keeps printing money and banks make profits.. we might pull out of this mess yet.. or not..

Hopefully, some democrat in Congress will kill this deal, at which time the blogs now whining about Barry will scream at those halting the deal for “distracting us from getting other things done before the Republicans take over”.

And which blogs would that be? I think a lot of Democrats would be happy with an across the board tax increase which they would attempt to blame on the Republicans somehow (maybe for not supporting the "deal" 100 % ?)

“... if the RATS kill the whole thing not only do we get to blame them but we get to remind the libs their boy king voted with us to pass the bill!”

And that’s the rub for the Rats. Their Boy King has essentially said it will kill the economy if they don’t pass it, because it WILL kill the economy if they don’t pass it.

Right now the Rats are simply posturing, hoping they can keep their Marxist base from becoming irreversibly pissed off.

It’s nearly inconceivable that the Rats will doom themselves by voting to destroy the economy via the biggest tax increase in U.S. history, because the the destruction will occur so quickly after their vote that it will be impossible to deny that it was their vote that caused it, particularly since their President said that is what would happen.

If by some improbable circumstance the Rats do end up voting to let the biggest tax increase in U.S. history occur while The Great Recession teeters on the edge of becoming The First Great Depression of the Twenty First Century, the Rats as a party are truly finished for at least a generation. Given the shellacking that occurred in the mid-terms, I think enough of them have awoken to the precariousness of their situation, that they will in fact avoid precipitating this gigantic tax increase.

Today I was thinking again about the terrifying sight I saw in Jan 2009. It was the look on Obama’s face soon after he was sworn in. He looked terrified for at least a few days. Conservatives make a big mistake thinking there is anything of substance inside his head or heart. The guy is in way over his head.

There he is, the Grave robber from DC.

Estate tax goes up to 35 percent. Inherit the family business, sell it and give that SOB half.

This is what you get when you elect a communist organizer. More Unemployment, more lost jobs, more lost business.

Fidel Castro in a suit and tie.

This has all beeen planned in advance.

Obama must be seen as able to bring his coalition to the table to compromise. They MUST come ONLY kicking and screaming...by a hair's margin.

That's all it take to make the GOP in the Senate look stupid and ineffective in the long run.

Of course, most GOP Senators are too stupid to see this.

“if they DO pass and Obozo signs, extending the Bush rates and the economy gets better, unemployment declines...all in time for 2012 and Obozo says it’s all his glory and gets re-elected.”

Everyone forgets that, for the most part, the compromise just maintains the status quo. There’s no reason to think the economy is going to get better because of this. After all, the uncertainty of Obamacare, the uncertainty of an out-of-control EPA, the continued “quantitative easing”, the continued likelihood of massive Federal deficit spending, the continued movement of off-shore manufacturing jobs, the continued severe financial situations in several states, the continued massive invasion of illegal workers, the mortgage fiasco likely to bring down the banks, the stock market manipulation likely to crash the stock market, and the likely crash of the European Union depressing the world economy all still exist. Basically, no one in their right mind is going to invest in economic growth as long as Marxists are still in charge of the economy.

Not increasing taxes doesn’t make any of these go away. It simply means the economy won’t immediately crash as a consequence of the biggest tax increase in U.S. history.

Without an estate tax of some kind, in 50 years 1% of the population would have 95% of the money. I don’t agree that a death tax is a bad thing. I have no idea what it should be and when it should kick in, but without it the wealth of a nation will slowly but surely become concentrated in very few hands. It is designed to stop us from becoming like Mexico, where the vast majority of the countries money is held by less than 2000 families. It is not a bad thing, we just do it badly.

This deal is a joke and the acting is just acting at its best. Doesn’t matter if Obama made the deal. The Senate didn’t agree. Obama knows this and knows he can appear to be the one offering a deal (the senate dems modify in their favor) and when Repubs reject the changes, can blame them and the MSM will just repeat that mantra.

He knows it’ll never pass. MSM will still spin it as he was the compromiser and the Repubs said no.

This is not a TAX CUT. It is a tax rate cut. What that means is less witholding will happen and returns will be smaller.

We pay the same tax as before..

NO TAX cut!

I hope the Dems do defeat this gull of a plan.

It will bring no permenant jobs back.

The Dems want the complete Nationalization of everything normal working people own, earn, and possess because the actually beleive that it is rightfully the Governments’ to take.

They would be happier to see the country’s economic system totally collapse before they would accept the continuation of these lower tax rates.

Purely - they are complete traitors to this countries citizens.
