Granny's $100 ticket - for throwing out newspaper

What a bunch of garbage!

An elderly Manhattan woman living on Social Security was slapped with a $100 ticket -- just for throwing away a newspaper in a city trash can.

Delia Gluckin, 80, tossed the paper in a bin right outside her Inwood apartment building Sunday morning, only to be ambushed by an overzealous Department of Sanitation agent wielding a citation book.

"I was walking to take the subway downtown and dropped it in a trash can, and this lady in a blue uniform ran up to me," Gluckin told The Post.

"I thought she was going to ask for directions. She said, 'You just dropped garbage in there,' " according to Gluckin.

"I said, 'I didn't, it was just a newspaper,' and I offered to take it out," said Gluckin, who had tossed her Sunday Post out.

Sanit cop Kathy Castro wrote Gluckin the summons for putting "improper refuse" in a city litter basket.

No, Audi and Volkwagen have built a line of cars based on market driven engineering which we have created by law and regulation.

Frankly, I think it's amazing that any car company even wants to be in the US market at all.

But then Granny would have gotten a ticket for littering. She was placed in a no win situation by an idiot with a badge and a citation book.

If it was the Times instead of the Post, She should also have been fined for toxic waste.

This sort of petty crap has become the signature of the Bloomberg regime. And yet, they keep electing him. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

OK, after the benefit of another cup of coffee, GRANNY IS GUILTY!!!

She DID dispose of household trash in a city litter basket. She left the house after reading the newspaper and instead of putting it with her trash or the apartment building's recycle bin, she took it outside and dumped it in a city receptacle. I don't know what kind of education the city is doing about the problem but if every apartment building's worth of residents does this the trash collection must be pretty pricey. It is proper for the city to take SOME action here but perhaps a first-offense $100 ticket is a little over the top. Still, pour l'encouragement des autres.

OTOH, if Bloomie and the left really wants a socialist paradise in NYC, they could sentence this granny and thousands like her to sweep the streets wearing a babushka in a parody of any Russian city.

One would think that with times being as thin as they are that people wouldn’t put up with this ****

I've been to NYC a few time. I don't plan on ever going back. Same goes for most other big cities!

I hope she can get a jury trial.

A jury of New Yorkers would find her guilty. They almost all think like that there.

Stupid laws.

Stupid voters who permit such stupid laws to be created and create the position of “garbage police”.

To hell with laws like that.

Animals can be driven crazy by placing too many in too small a pen.
Homo sapiens is the only animal that voluntarily does this to himself.

LA city just passed a similar ordinance.

They’re sending garbage police, oops sorry, they’re called “Garbage Ambassadors”, out to monitor what residents are throwing in their bins.

They’ll get “corrective action” letters leading up to fines for non-compliance.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I just found a bunch of defective chinese products dumped in the woods.

It had all been spray painted red to indicate it was defective.
It obviously came from a retailer.

What I dont understand is why the clown hauled it out and dumped it on another mans property.

I hate callous bastards, but what this woman did is hardly a crime in any way.

Actually the reason they would find her guilty is because in their eyes a ticket for someone else is filling a quota that would otherwise catch them. The only thing that would turn it around is if the sanitation cops speak with a heavy german accent and wear arm bands.

I’m sure that the “police” of garbage originates in some federal funding for something. Just union jobs and power of the state. Three years after the garbage police become commonplace, the federal funding gets cut in half and the ticket books get really busy meeting quotas.

yeah, granny probably voted for such a law. Time for her to pay for it.

These laws add more work for landlords as well as penalties. And people wonder why rents are so high. Landlords are not wealthy, they have so many stupid fines to pay, spend time in courts to fight them etc. Problem is, there are more tenants than landlords. Tenants vote stupid laws in not thinking of the consequences.
