It looks like if everyone had voted, and we had not had the 8 rhinos, the vote would have been dead even. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Even “dead even” is an embarrassment and proof that the current government, at least in the House, is truly not on the side of Americans anymore.

So, what to do?

It has nothing to do with race and everything to do with “ILlegal”. Not legal. Breaking rules. And everything that follows after that. Illegals are allowed in because of leftist, globalist agendas.

I went over to U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services today and asked if they could pull up Miles Standish's and John Smith's I-94 records...nothing....seems like they were "illegal aliens"...."what part of illegal do you not understand"....why didn't they just go through the proper processes and wait in line like everyone else?

Northwinds registered on November 7, 2008.

Lending suspicion that he/she joined in order to read our dispiritedness after the election and report back to DU. And, maybe, conduct a few provocations along the way...

I.e., he/she can be safely ignored as an unserious person.

Omg. If this goes through, it’s game over.

Demographics is destiny. Within 20 years, these “new citizens” won’t want to follow some old document written by a bunch of WASPS.

If the 1965 Immigration Act were never passed ... today’s America would be entirely different! It would be the closest thing to an American paradise. Why?

The liberals would have aborted themselves out of existence or became a minority party as they just don’t have many kids if any ... while conservatives tend to have 2 or more kids.

It would have been Ronald Reagan days here on out. We would be building bases on the Moon and Mars.

“who came here when they were 2 (or 4, or 6, etc)”

You sound as if you don’t realize that a 30-year-old who has been here for 5 years qualifies...which means they came here illegally when they were 25. That’s a child about like those 26-year-old kids that can remain on your insurance policy. Dems are ignoramuses.

However ... for white liberals it will be equally bad 20 years from now.

I predict within 20 years or sooner, white liberals will have no real political power. Why?

The new citizens and the current entitlement/perpetual victim class will NOT want to share any power with them. Look at election results - white liberals are beaten by these Panther and LaRaza types time and time again.

As a “hispanic kid” of Cuban origin, I came here legally with my parents. I resent your comments. You and your liberal brethren can maintain all these illegal moochers, I will not. Let them all go home and apply legally to re-enter the country. I want them all out of here. Back to where they “illegally” came from.

Well yeah, you came here under the "Cuban Adjustment Act" which basically gave all Cubans who reached U.S. shore a whole lot more privileges than the "Dream Act" would give to these other Hispanics because of the "Cold war" and "other issues"....you should thank your lucky star that you were born in Cuba and not Mexico, or El Salvador....geez.....the arrogance of people is frightening.

I was actually thinking of “bayourod” but I seem to remember “Dane” being along the same lines. Oh, well. Once this bill passes the United States will be over run with the families of illegals from all over. This nation is doomed. I wish we never had children. Trying to keep them safe from this hell will be next to impossible.

All the hispanic people in my little hometown were 2nd and 3rd generation Americans first and foremost. I never really thought of them as anything else. They were a tiny minority who blended in and were part of the community.

There was one black family who moved into the area and he said it was because he wanted a nice conservative place to live and raise his kids. After 20 years he said he never experienced any real racism. Oddly enough, his name was Willie Green.

Hell is right.

They and their chain migrated family members, from not just Latin American, but from EVERYWHERE will overrun our hospitals.
They will bankrupt our nation.
Our nation will not be able to provide for the common defense, or maintain its infrastructure.
We will slide into decay and third world conditions within a short generation.

UNTOLD numbers of these people will flood this place. I mean, they already are — but you ain’t seen nothing yet.

This goes through and its OVER.

America will be but a “dream.”

Your stupidity is frightening. Whatever the situation that gave me the opportunity to enter “legally” into this country I thank God for. That said, I refuse to continue to provide free education, food stamps, welfare assistance, HUD assistance, etc., to all these illegals, kids or adults.

They all need to be deported and don’t you dare call me a racist, wanting America to be lilly white. But if you do call me a racist, so be it. I don’t care. That is the card that is always used by liberals to satisfy their need to “feel” for the so-called less fortunate.

I resent them, yes I do. I want everyone to follow the law. My parents did and those that pay thousands of dollars to enter this country legally deserve better.

I have no sympathy for anyone that broke into this country. Period. Please spare me the “poor kids were dragged by their parents crap”.

Reminds me of last week in the grocery store line.....a young hispanic couple in front of me had two carts loaded with groceries and were paying for it with food stamps. They were laughing, speaking in Spanish, and grabbing on each other the whole time as the clerk had to negotiate the food stamp voucher process. Not to mention that the guy had on a “Mexico” t-shirt. Their last item was dog food...which they had to pay for with cash. When it was my turn, I looked at the cashier and said “I guess I paid for those groceries and mine tonight”....her response was “you got that right”. And because this is played out over and over in America I will not get my money back from social security when I turn 62 after working and contributing for forty years...and I’m not supposed to be angry about that?

Oh my my...How racist of you...

Absolutely. The Cubans who came to this country legally truly adjusted to the American way of life. I say this because I lived it. My parents worked their hands to the bone during the day and went to school at night to learn the language.

Taught my two siblings and I to love America and to assimilate. We worked hard, are currently putting our kids through college with the sweat of our brow, asking for nothing from the government.

This appears to be the vote in question. I cannot find the wording on the bill. It looks like they appended it to something else. Had a very hard time finding todays vote where the tally matched what was released as the vote.

Stealth legislation in the “lame duck” session. Really stinks.

If they are able to pass this and some other extreme crap it is time to burn DC down. (not literally, but almost)

You’re obviously right. Truly disgusting of
her .. especially since she immigrated
supposedly legally from Cuba.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
It also was a reminder that Ros-Lehtinen, 58, presents an increasingly rare image these days — a politician occasionally willing to work across the aisle. The legislator, who was re-elected with 69 percent of the vote, is a hawk on foreign affairs but
breaks with her party on immigration, gay rights and other issues important to the people she represents — Cuban-Americans, gays, a strong Jewish community.
California Democrat Howard Berman, who will surrender the Foreign Affairs Committee chairmanship in January, cautioned those who mistake Ros-Lehtinen’s enthusiasm and pleasantness for weakness.
“People greatly underestimate her skill and tenaciousness,” he said.
Under her watch, the committee is expected to push for stepped-up sanctions against North Korea and Iran, more oversight of the U.N. and a block on any dialogue with Cuba. As a strong abortion foe, Ros-Lehtinen also may try to chip away at the president’s executive order allowing foreign aid for international groups that provide information about abortion services.
“I think she is going to be very active on Latin America and oversight, making sure the administration is enforcing sanctions,” Berman said.
Ros-Lehtinen fled Cuba with her family at age 7. She taught elementary school, then got a doctorate in education and started running her own school. She was in the Florida Legislature for six years before winning election to the U.S. House in 1989, her bid brokered by legendary Cuban-American political king-maker Jorge Mas Canosa.
The mother of two children and two stepchildren with her husband, former U.S. Attorney Dexter Lehtinen, is still best known for her staunch support of the U.S embargo against the communist island.
“I welcome the opportunity of having anyone assassinate Fidel Castro,” she told an interviewer in a 2006 British documentary.
Ros-Lehtinen is outraged by Cuba’s membership on the United Nation’s Human Rights Council along with China and Saudi Arabia and would like U.S. contributions to the U.N. to be voluntary until the U.S. creates an office to audit U.N. activities for transparency and eliminate waste.
“The U.N. functions very well for Iran and Venezuela, and every two-bit dictator who’s envious and hates the United States,” she told The Associated Press. “But for countries that contribute a lot to the U.N., I don’t think people really feel like it’s really living up to the standards which we set for it at it’s founding.”
Newt Gingrich, the former House speaker and 2012 presidential hopeful, lauds Ros-Lehtinen for bringing a strong anti-communist and anti-dictator position to her analyses. “She will bring clarity,” he predicts.
Critics counter that she has too much of an “us versus them” mentality that doesn’t allow for gray areas when it comes to those who don’t always agree with the U.S.
“She looks more to converting,” said Peter Hakim, president emeritus of the Inter-American Dialogue think tank.
“But the notion that first you convert someone and then you deal with them in the real world doesn’t seem to work,” he said. “There are lots of countries we have sharp differences with, but we accommodate those differences.”
Ros-Lehtinen is tired of groups that complain the U.S. is not doing enough abroad and is among those who have criticized Obama for publicly acknowledging the nation’s past support of friendly but undemocratic regimes.
“We have to do more with less and work in a smarter way to advance America’s interests — and that’s not advancing the world’s interest,” she said.
But she has also spoken out about human rights violations in East Timor, Tibet and Darfur and called attention to women’s rights in Afghanistan.
One place she doesn’t see the need for cuts is aid to Israel. Her support is crucial in a district that is home to one of the nation’s largest communities of Holocaust survivors. It is also personal. Ros-Lehtinen, now an Episcopalian, was raised Catholic, but her mother’s family were Jews who immigrated to Cuba from Turkey.
Why would you laugh at citizens who want equality with illegals. Why would you laugh at citizens who want law-breakers kept out of their nation? I cannot understand anyone who laughs at their fellow citizens when 'illegals' have more rights than citizens. This has been the case and situation. There are so many examples and writings saying such. And all you can do is laugh at American citizens and those who did the right thing and came legally? I do not understand how anyone can laugh as American citizens and American citizens' protests are ignored. You cannot be any sort of a respecter of the Rule of Law.
