Will President Obama be the first billion-dollar man? This Story He raised and spent $750 million in the 2008 campaign, and there is already speculation that the cash-collection operation for his 2012 reelection bid will crest the once-unimaginable sum of $1 billion raised. (That's a one and nine zeros. Nine!)

So now he’s completely given up his lies about public financing.

Interesting.

For once WaPo is not all concerned about "getting the money out of politics."

Let’s hope a Republican House keeps a sharp eye on Jerk the Wonder Prez’s fundraising efforts, since it wasn’t so above-board the last time.

Who’s giving this schmuck money?! All of the Dims I know want him gone, they certainly aren’t donating to his re-election fund.

Don’t forget to add in the tens of millions Bammie is spending to keep his long form hidden away.

I hope he raises a Trillion. All the more money drained out of the liberal fever swap the better. I’m not saying he can’t or won’t get reelected, after all he did manage to get there once, but I think most people are now seeing him for what he is, an empty suit filled with Marxist radicalism and no ability to lead or manage.

“Who’s giving this schmuck money?! All of the Dims I know want him gone, they certainly aren’t donating to his reelection fund.”

Cilliza is really undermining any shred of cred as a journalist here...and whistling past the graveyard.

The unions will give along with the other Soros fronts, but antiwar left, gays, Hispanics and other suckers won't give a dime IMO. That is why they will primary him or decide that maybe they might want to look into the BC.

No way. No way Obama is going to raise a billion. The bloom is off the rose. He’ll raise a lot of money, but it ain’t going to be near as easy as his first go around. There is no George W Bush to run against and we all know Obama is a political pipsqueak.

Where is all the MSM outrage at the evil money in politics in this case?

"It's not unrealistic at all, given the amount raised and spent in 2008 and the amount Republican interest groups and 527s will spend against him," said a former Obama administration official.

Probably a quote from Rahm. In any case, what he didn't say is that Democrats outspent Republicans in all cases.

First of all let’s make sure they are able to track the source of those donations, unlike last time (also received cash “gift cards” from donors) where it is suspected he received millions from foreign donors. This time around, however, we won’t have a stupid RINO who insisted on public finance for his election.
