“Buy loads of ‘em when in season and freeze.”

I’ll start doing that - thanks for the reminder. Good call on the black cherry juice!!!

Raw. Been doing so for decades.

They file them down so fast by the time we get home the bones are clean enough to come in the house,

And they bring them in to add to there dry bone box, they don’t bury them like a typical dog would.

Now and then I go through the bone box and throw them out.
My God the look on their faces.
Think of a child parting from their favorite stuffy.

Right - I think this stuff started with detergent. You have to vigilant and look at all the amounts of what you buy for the price, for sure.

Sneaky jerks.

I haven't tried many Ports. I'm more in the Pinot Noir, CabSav, Chianti, Merlot side of things.

I'll see if we have Whidby’s here, if it's that good, it's worth picking up a bottle.

God is really good to us Americans. Too bad so many of them are too stupid, blind to the fact or just don't care to acknowledge it. When that goodness is gone, though, they'll notice.

Knudson Black Cherry Juice is extremely varialbe in price.
I found it at the best price of around $3 a bottle at Freddies/kroger everywhere else it is around $6 a bottle.

I’ll look for that brand. We don’t have any Freddies/Krogers here though.

I enjoy a White Zin with snacks like cheese and fruit or cheese and crackers, etc. I keep extra Beringers for visitors. It goes bad/tasteless before I can drink an entire bottle if I open one for just my own use. Refrigerating opened wines ‘washes’ their flavor away.

Refrigrating opened wines is useless; might as well throw the remainder out or maybe cook with them.

http://rareseeds.com/shop/ Nice little local company here in the Mo. Ozarks.

Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds - great place. Went to one of their fall festivals a few years back. Would love to make a return visit. Their free seed catalog is a real work of art. Got my 2011 catalog last week. Just the thing to peruse indoors on a cold winter day. We order from them every year. The young man that started it has really built himself a nice business.

My dog killed a squirrel yesterday - don’t think I wasn’t tempted to skin and eat it, LOL!

But, seriously, if anyone needs help getting their food budget under control, I’m glad to help. I spent MANY years feeding two adult men, myself and three teen boys on about $175.00/month. It can be done! :)

Ten Dollar Grocery Budget:

Note: This works if you have $10, or have to borrow $10 from your Parents, LOL! :)

Try these sites for seeds and information about seed saving and storage. I used to work for Seed Savers and now I work for Jung’s:

“The price of venison around my place has stayed stable.”

Yup its 48 bucks in the Great State of Texas to hunt on public lands over 1 million acres scattered across our fine state. We have drawn hunts too for 3 bucks an entry some places are so remote that every entry gets drawn. Small game hunting is allowed in most of our Wildlife Management Areas for 20 bucks a day or free with the annual permit, kids 17 and under hunt free with an adult and their permit that’s 10 deer for a father son team using all 5 tags each per season more venison that one family can eat in a season. We get spring late spikeless in most of the state too for a second crack at Bambi.

For small game parts of Texas have an effective unlimited bag limit for squirrels and rabbits some places are 10 each per day per person, use a small rifle like a 17 HMR & 20gr FMJ which is legal in Tx for all small game and take the meat home. Feral hogs have no bag limits or closed season anywhere in the state and the little ones are quite delicious especially smoked whole over pecan and oak till fall off the bone tender. Again the 17HMR FMJ to the head leaves all the meat. The 17 is a sweet little tack driver my Mossberg shoots sub quarter sized groups at 100 meters off the bipod; to that distance its point and shoot for head shots on little edible critters. Ammo is cheap too ten bucks for 50 rounds lots of feral pork and rabbit for dinner at that rate. 5.56mm makes short work of feral hogs too but is too much gun for small game like rabbit or squirrels. When I small game hunt I carry my 17 and my Bushmaster flattop M4 with a Bushnell mildot on the rail in case something that legally needs a centerfire walks by. Like a deer or a turkey. 5.56 to the high neck or head for bambi or the wing joint ends the day every time for those critters too. FMJ again keeps the meat damage to a minimum an perfectly legal in Texas, shot placement shot placement slot placement is what hunting is all about.

There is no reason to pay 10 plus dollars a pound for beef or farm raised venison, or organic pork, shoot, clean, eat well.

I buy, or should say bought, tomato sets at the local nursery. Several years ago. the left-overs self seed and come back strong with plenty of fruit year after year. So if you want tomatoes for life, don't waste your money on boutique seeds. Just buy your preferred variety and leave a few on the ground every Fall.

You'll have tomatoes to give away.
