Posted on 12/18/2010 10:02:24 PM PST by RED SOUTH
Look whose way ahead ....hint ... it's not Herman Cain.
The two leaders, BY FAR, are Palin and Pence...
Sounds like a hell of a ticket, to me.
Yup. See my tagline. I think Pence is going to come out if nowhere and really impress.
Who is your initial preferred pick for the GOP President Candidate Selection Votes Haley Barbour 4% 343 John Bolton 4% 306 Jeb Bush 3% 230 Herman Cain 8% 647 Mitch Daniels 8% 615 Mike Huckabee 5% 378 Sarah Palin 31% 2,401 Tim Pawlenty 5% 374 Mike Pence 14% 1,061 Rick Perry 3% 253 David Petraeus 3% 197 Mitt Romney 9% 652 John Thune 2% 178 7,635 votes total
Palin 32%. Awesome.
FReeped! I love Herman Cain and I love Sarah Palin—I don’t think it is his time just yet—but wouldn’t a Palin/Cain ticket be awesome??
Wait until they officially announce their intentions and positions before asking me to consider them for office.
Jim DeMint, 2012
Where’s Michelle Bachman?
Who are these 700 odd delta bravos who still think Mitt’s the $hit ?
Mitt's vote total was only 666 when I looked at the poll.
Thune, Romney, Bush, and Huckabee can be fundraisers..They aren’t good for anything higher than that. Pawlenty is a question mark to me.
Of the other eight - three look like they belong on the short list for Pres/VP (Palin, Pence, and Daniels - in that order), and those who don’t make the cut would make first rate cabinet secretaries.
Petraeus for SecDef, Bolton for SecState, Perry for SecTrans., Cain or Barbour for Commerce (pick one - the other goes for SecAgr.)
I know it would leave a few of the posts unfilled - that’s okay -put DeMint and Coburn somewhere, and just abolish the remainder of the departments (like education, labor, interior...) by defunding or not filling those slots
Just my scattered thoughts...
I am not scolding you or taking issue with your posting.
I am merely stating my opinion and I think it’s a shame that RedState regular readers can’t just conduct their own poll, but such is the way of the Internet.
In a recent poll, Hermain Cain, in the MO of Ron Paul, had all of his FaceBook friends *pump* his numbers.
Um, I do not see my choice listed, but I’ll select one regardless.
Who’s your choice?
I know, two women would likely be one too many on one ticket.
That's all right. I just hope she wins the RedState Poll.
Tis true! I would be very happy with the ticket, but we must win. I'm not saying they wouldn't win... only that it might be tougher [or not].
...In a recent poll, Herman Cain, in the MO of Ron Paul, had all of his FaceBook friends *pump* his numbers.I understand your concern.
But that the previous poll (the one that Herman Cain "FReeped" from his facebook page) -- was on THIS VERY SAME WEBSITE (RedState.com) -- which is one of the main reasons that they are running it again now. :o)
Since FR took down the "thread view" counter, we can no longer know for certain how many FReepers viewed this thread -- but in the old days, when we could, a very popular thread like Ann Coulter's weekly column would regularly get around 1,500 "thread views."Plus, Governor Palin may not have even been the only person that FReepers from this thread voted for.
Sometimes as much as 2,000. But that's for Ann's regular weekly column. THIS thread (posted on a weekend night) probably only got a few hundred "thread views."
And, based on my previous experience with "FReeping" polls, we wouild be lucky to get TEN PERCENT of those who "viewed" this thread to actually VOTE.
So we might expect that AT MOST, FReepers from this thread added a few hundred votes to that poll. Probably more like a few dozen. Here are the CURRENT results, post "FReeping."
And, you cannot easily "vote like a Democrat" on these RedState polls. I know; I tried. ;)
Not much change Governor Palin's position.
Who is your initial preferred pick for the GOP President Candidate Selection Votes Haley Barbour 4% 360 John Bolton 4% 335 Jeb Bush 3% 246 Herman Cain 8% 680 Mitch Daniels 8% 649 Mike Huckabee 5% 396 Sarah Palin 33% 2,716 Tim Pawlenty 5% 388 Mike Pence 14% 1,133 Rick Perry 3% 275 David Petraeus 3% 216 Mitt Romney 8% 686 John Thune 2% 185 8,265 votes total
Bottom line: Internet polls are generally worthless, and Presidential polls this far out are almost meaningless...
...but the results of this current poll show that Sarah is still "ineluctable," in MY opinion. :o)
Strange...Petraeus is on there and DeMint isn’t.
Thanks ... Pence voted for.. and in second place.
Elect Sarah Palin for President 2012
Re-Elect President Sarah Palin 2016
I’m not surprised by Palin; a little surprised by Pence; and quite surprised that people-—even though they don’t really know his politics-—haven’t hamed Petraeus more. It’s an American tradition to gravitate toward successful conservative generals: Washington, Jackson, Harrison, Grant, Ike.
That should be a signal to the GOP.
Any person without at minimum of a double-digit percentage will lose the General Election.
They didn’t pay attention to that in 2008 when they selected McCain, and he lost by 2-to-1 Electoral votes.
I have a feeling Sarah will not run...
Sarah List has not been pinged here...yet, and I looked at C4P and there’s no mention of this poll that I spotted there.
Aside from Palin, that is the weakest field of Presidential candidates in my memory. (Erickson didn’t even add Demint!)
Of course, if you add Palin to this list, her presence so raises the average as to make it among the strongest fields.
Without Palin, however, this GOP field is....well...what Obama hopes to find under his tree:
Regional candidates, first time candidates, boring candidates, moderate GOP Establishment squishes who will depress turnout and a Bush thrown in for good measure.
Well Brice your comment sums it perfectly WHY Gov. Palin has to run.
LOL. Yes. I know that DeMint is not listed! Erickson is taking him at his word, that he is not running and not interested in running. Aside from Sarah Palin, the Grand Old Party currently lacks star power when it comes to presidential politics. I think we might have some stars in the bull pen for later years.
With a pinch of retread thrown in. :)
Man, does your description sum this current crop up (ex Palin). How far the GOP has fallen since the days of the Gipper.
Governor Palin still dominates:

Who is your initial preferred pick for the GOP President Candidate Selection Votes Haley Barbour 4% 461 John Bolton 4% 427 Jeb Bush 3% 304 Herman Cain 13% 1,365 Mitch Daniels 7% 782 Mike Huckabee 5% 537 Sarah Palin 32% 3,434 Tim Pawlenty 4% 446 Mike Pence 13% 1,375 Rick Perry 3% 342 David Petraeus 2% 263 Mitt Romney 8% 859 John Thune 2% 227 10,822 votes total
...quite surprised that people-even though they dont really know his politics-havent hamed Petraeus more.I like the idea of a military leader as VP for Governor Palin?
Its an American tradition to gravitate toward successful conservative generals: Washington, Jackson, Harrison, Grant, Ike.
Who ELSE is out there? What do we know about General Odierno?
DeMint for me too.
Sure would like to see John Bolton as Sec of State with Palin/Pence.
The mockery of the USA would end immediately.
I would also like to see an end to foreign aid tht depletes this country, while rewarding our enemies.
Herman Cain playing games again. Pity that.
If he starts cutting into Sarah Palin, I might be tempted to ping the list.
ping the list
And if Bolton derails Thune's chances, it would be the finest example of political karma.
yeah - agreed
I was first in on this thread with that notion (Post # 14)...plus as a bonus, I gave a nod to Petraeus for SecDef and filled a few other key slots...
Palin and Pence...yeah - that would be good!
In dreamland, after seating such a cabinet, President Palin would, in her first month in office, withdraw the US from the UN, cancel the UN’s lease on their NYC digs, fire all American UN employees, revoke the diplomatic credentials of all foreign UN reps, cancel all UN-designated US taxpayer funds and terminate all UN programs operating in the USA.
The next day, she would suspend the operations and order an audit of, the Federal Reserve, meanwhile placing the US imnmediately on the silver standard as an interim step to restoration of the gold standard...followed by simultaneous audits of Fannie and Freddie...
There is only ONE front-runner...

We desperately need a real conservative at the State Department. When was the last one? Beats me. Some freeper suggested Joe Lieberman a few weeks ago! Hell no.
