Two down: Obama ends first half of term with big victories

WASHINGTON — President Obama is ending the first half of his term the same way he began it — with a storm of activity of impressive, even historic, dimensions. Year-end victories on taxes, economic stimulus and landmark cultural change are reshaping the image of a president who seemed isolated and out of touch only a month ago in the wake of an enormous midterm election defeat.

Suddenly, he looks like a deal maker who can reach across party lines to get things done and, perhaps, make progress that Americans found lacking when they went to the polls in November.

Obama is "a progressive leader who, in fact, understands that politics is all about the art of the possible," Vice President Joe Biden said Sunday on NBC. Both parties, Biden said, had "heard the message" of the election, that voters "want us to reasonably compromise to move the business of the nation forward."

By compromising with Republican leaders over the last few weeks, Obama appeared engaged and involved in a way he wasn't before. In the process, he helped himself with portions of his base and gave centrist swing voters a reason to give him a fresh look.

Yeah. Only Obama could have negotiated a deal to renew the Bush tax cuts.

Uh, yeah. Whatever. Unemployment, record debt, destroying the military, shutting down gulf coast drilling. What a great two years.

Yes and it created shellacking that was just as historic if not more so.

Good lord, if they tight up the Internet there will be no place left to go to get real and honest news any more.

BS..they had a unstoppable majority in Congress before the election, but they put these things off to minimize their losses. We lost on DADT, but that isn’t done yet. They need to write the rules and regs and congress needs to approve them. That may have the Def. Dept. and lawyers tied in knots for years.

West needs to get out more and stop reading NYT and watching only MSM.

If he is going to report, he needs to report both sides... the downside of obamanation far outweights the upside....

Certainly only the worst kind of blind, dumb leftist propagandist could speak this way about extending the Bush tax cuts and letting gays bugger in the barracks.

WTF?

The Bush tax rates were extended (NO TAXES WERE"CUT"), and he turned the military into a haven for faggots and dykes.

Unemployment remains above 10%, and America is now looked at as the asshole of the World.....yeah; what he's got "done in 2 years" is TOTAL DESTRUCTION and will take decades (if ever) to un-do and return to the Constitution.

Jerkwads at LA Times.....

yuk

Um...I seem to remember Obama bowing out and Clinton stepping up to the podium to encourage Dems to keep Bush's tax cuts.

How ironic is all of this, LOL. For years the Dems fought Bush's action. Then, suddenly, Obama and Clinton get behind the tax cuts. But, it only took both of them, LOL: the impeached, alleged first black president and the second (half)black, lame duck president to keep in force what one clear minded, focused, and Republican President instituted during his tenure.

The writer of the article must be dizzy from spinning on this story.

Paul West must be organizing the Hussein cult circle jerk this week...so Hussein threw a temper tantrum, crammed social engineering (ignoring the Marine commandant, as did the media) down the throat of the armed forces albeit with Republican help...and he was forced to keep the tax rates that same. Whoopdee-doo.

What Paul West, who is obviously giddy like a school girl for Hussein, obviously doesn’t realize is that the conservative House hasn’t taken over yet...and that Harry Reid, the moron who has been embraced by the voters of Nevada, is still overseeing an increasing unemployment rate and national debt AND a deteriorating situation in Afghanistan.

Of course, since Hussein is a Demon-rat, then Paul West (who likely fantasizes about Hussein) ignores these facts...and decides to write a cheerleading article about him.

BO’s base is mad at him for his extension of the Bush tax cuts. The media is seizing on the tax cut extension as an opportunity to portray BO as a centrist/moderate/capable leader. Not sure how many will buy this.

Paul West must be careful not to break his neck with this spin. I suspect the gay vote he may have gained will be countered by the millions he just angered. Extending Bush’s tax cuts might placate some on the right, but a lot of kooks on the left aren’t happy with him, and most on the right hope for something better.

When all the spin and wishful thinking is over, Obamao is still going to be an incompetent, American hating, lazy tool of leftist criminals.
