Biden: Obama tax deal 'morally troubling'
Washington Times ^ | 12/20/10 | Joseph Weber

Posted on 12/20/2010 9:42:48 AM PST by Nachum

Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. on Sunday defended what he acknowledged as a "morally troubling" decision by President Obama to extend tax rates for all Americans as part of wide-ranging interview on key national and international issues.

Mr. Biden said the president still thinks extending the George W. Bush-era rates for the country's highest wage-earners, along with everyone else, is "morally troubling." He said the president broke his 2008 campaign promise on the issue to help only the middle class.

"We couldn't get it done," he said in a pre-taped interview that aired Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press." "We had to make a decision."

Mr. Biden said the president will try over the next two years to have the rates revert to Clinton-era levels. The tax-cut extension was part of a deal with Republicans that also provides tax credits to businesses and extends jobless benefits to millions of Americans.

"This compromise was to help people who were drowning," he said. "There are people out there who cannot afford a Christmas tree, much less gifts."

When you have the wrong (or no) moral values instilled in you, the Right Thing To Do is troubling.

Does Biden (good “Catholic” that he is) find the prevailing position of the Democrat party on abortion “morally troubling”?

It is Morally Troubling. It means that all their cronies can’t use the publics money like they thought they were going to be able to. Today, Washington is “Morally Troubling”.

The sad thing is, he is the smart one. Obama supposedly picked him for gravitas or foreign policy experience. Which makes sense, except that he is wrong on every foreign policy issue. He at least is culturally American. Obama doesn’t even seem to know how to pretend to be one of us.

How can an administration with no morals be morally troubled.

The whole point of being liberal is to avoid being moral

The Liberal “mind”-such as it- is indeed a troubled place.

It has created a good deal of the worlds’ 20th and 21st century troubles.

Indeed, how morally disturbing the thought of allowing those who EARN the money to actually KEEP some of it. If the don’t want to extend the cuts, how about taxing everyone straight across the board - including those who get welfare and SSI.

Indeed. Of course, every Lib imagines a delusional self-inportance. And while Biden does a great job; no one does it better, than the empty suit walking that his 'Boss Obama' lays claim to.

It only goes to show that Liberals don’t let a little thing like morality get in the way. Morally troubling, yeah, but what the hey, lets pass that bill if gets us reelected.

It troubles me that Liberals regard wealth (even honestly earned) as immoral. That’s the Communist mindset, folks. As government policies reduce the dollar’s value, inflation will cause all of us to become “immoral” millionaires subject to a higher tax bracket.

What’s morally troubling is the Republicans made a deal with the Democrats that they would pass the DADT repeal if taxes weren’t raised.

Wow, For the Democrats this is definitely an unprecedented phenomena. It’s the first time ever that “morally” and “troubling” appear side by side in a sentence.

"We couldn't get it done," he said in a pre-taped interview that aired Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press." "We had to make a decision."

Reminds me of a Dennis Rodman interview where he stated that he and Michael Jordan combined for 64 points that night.

He didn't actually SAY that MJ scored 62 of them, but....

He was troubled by it, because he wanted to let the whole thing expire, and then raise taxes. So was Biden. Good idea putting "morally troubling" in quotes, but it should have been done this way -- "'morally' troubling". Thanks Nachum.
