Anti-Immigrant Laws Cost Tax Payers Millions, Benefits Cut
Technorati ^ | December 25, 2010 | Tim Paynter

Cities and states are paying out millions of dollars in llegal fees to defend anti-immigrat laws. Even though law makers know they are setting their citizens up for expensive litigation, they choose aggressive actions. This forces some municipalities to cut citizen services in order to pay legal fees when law makers knew the laws were likely to be declared unconstitutional from the start.

Citizens of the state of Arizona will have to dig deep into their pockets to make up for the losses in revenue to the tax base as a result of the most vicious anti-immigrant law in the history of the U.S. On April 23rd, Governor Jan Brewer (R-AZ) signed SB 1070 into law. While a judge ruled portions of the law unconstitutional, the remainder of the law remains in place.

The reaction to SB 1070 has been in the form of massive protests which jammed the legal system, and a national boycott which cost the state millions of tourist dollars. On July 29th, the date SB 1070 went into effect, the Phoenix 100 were arrested in a massive protest. Approximately 100 people were brought in by police. Those arrested included leading clergy from the Unitarian Universalit's Association like Rev Susan Frederick Gray and Salvador Reza of the Puente Movement. Yours truly was front and center for this protest, as well.

Second, it would provide work permits and programs so immigrant labor can cross the border as the economy and US labor needs require

We have massive unemployment, we don't need immigrant labor. BTW, the lawsuit is being fought with private (donated) funds and not taxpayer funds.

Get the illegals out of the state and we'll begin recovery.

“Second, it would provide work permits and programs so immigrant labor can cross the border as the economy and US labor needs require”

Yeah, the only problem is, it wouldn’t provide for the EXIT of those same people in response to US labor needs NOT requiring them any more. And lacking the labor shortages to cause employers to employ those people, they become burdens(ome) to the state, as net consumers of services financed by the taxes paid by everyone else and generally NOT THEM.

It will be an endless cycle until a complete fence is built and the borders are secure.

Arizona will spend millions to enforce the laws that the federal government refuses to enforce. They will spend millions more to defend against the Justice Department’s effort to overturn their law. Yet the citizens of Arizona seem to think it is worth it. So what point is the author trying to make?

Arm some drones, shoot to kill. But even that won’t completely stop them.

Why would anyone want to post this"progressive crap, Noob?

Apparently neither you nor the author of this dung is aware of the classic patriotic statement :

Millions for defense... not one cent for tribute!

Get a conservative Jr. High-schooler to explain it to you.

Weeeelllll Americans...

Following the “reasoning” of the “Technorati” witch should be “Technoramus (for ignoramus)” America is F#@ed Up.

But, buuuutttt...

There are so “specifics”...

1 - I never knew America is “Anti-Immigrant”;

2 - What I do know is America is “Anti-Illegal Immigrants”;

3 - Following the Communist Democrats procedings (CIR) will cost America Trillions of Dollars, not only millions in Law suits;

4 - As far as I know, the Illegals are costing millions in law suits just because the Democrats passed lenient laws that allow illegals to question the state;

5 - As far as I know, America is full of illegals just because of the leniency of Democrats that permeated the borders and use ilegals in elections;

Solution? I have none, but for sure I do know it is not over yet! If you Americans give up on this, as Dems. wish, then find somewhere else to live, for America will be a third world country as any other.

I assume “technorati” is a moonbat site run by moonbat Tim. Then again, maybe Tim is relic neo-Nazi who wants to assume a role as Arizona Mein Fuhrer.

Which is it Tim? Moonbat or Nazi?

I’d guess both. Sieg Heil, Green Cheese!! (You’re blocking my flight from the cave...)

Whatacrank.

WE MUST NOT DO ANYTHING THAT WILL CAUSE LAWSUITS! We must simply turn the state governments forthwith over to the ACLU.
