Where are all of the tariff happy Yankees of the 19th century when you need tham?
The tariffs should be slight and targeted at products we want to make ourselves. The money should not go into the general fund but be used for robotics and automation R&D and capital funding of automation. The American R&D should never be shared with non-American competitors. Once we have automated factories employing high pay/high tax skilled Americans that produce products cheaper than the manual labor Chinese, the tariff for that particular product can be lifted.
The Federal Reserve doesn't use our tax dollars. Our Congress is the organization wasting our tax dollars around the world.
You should open an alarm clock factory in Saginaw. Let us know how that works out.
Once the 10% duty on alarm clocks is in place, he will be fine.
“Where are all of the tariff happy Yankees of the 19th century when you need tham?”
We got our butts kicked when China won MFN and NAFTA was passed.

Free Trade and Free markets are an important part of capital formation (and freedom). Calling our unfair trade agreement with a country run by central planning communists "free trade" strains the credulity of any reasonable person that has studied the issue.
If we wanted to renegotiate an actual free trade agreement that would be fine but China would never allow it. The next step is to make our trade agreement equitable, regardless of this plan not meeting the standard of free trade.
A equitable trade plan or a reciprocity trade plan is where we need to focus.
“Pretending that raising the price of imported ping-pong balls will solve the problem is retarded.”
Ping Pong Balls? Where’ve you been? You’ve missed a lot.
It would work just fine. I'll just hire a bunch of illegal immigrants.

Concurring bump.
The American clock will last longer than the cheap imported one, so that extra dollar won't be wasted. It won't contain toxic chemicals either.
Huh? I'd suggest you research that a lil further.
Congress farmed out all monetary policy to the Federal Reserve.
It was not Congress that allocated TARP funds, it was the FR.
In fact, some in Congress squealed like little girls when they found out where the Federal Reserve shipped billions of our tax dollars.
Please, research this secret, private banking Cartel. You will be amazed at the power these people have on our nation...and they are not even a federal entity.
The Federal reserve is about as federal as federal express.
It's true. The Fed gets not a single dollar from the Treasury. In fact, the Fed last year turned over $45 billion to the Treasury. I think this year the number is closer to $75 billion.
It was not Congress that allocated TARP funds, it was the FR.
I believe you are incorrect, but if you have a link, I'll be glad to look it over.

They may have squealed, but it wasn't tax dollars involved.
The Federal reserve is about as federal as federal express.
I missed it when Federal Express was created by an act of congress. Or where the President gets to appoint company officers at Fed Ex. Or where Fed Ex turns over all their profit to the Treasury.
So tired of that stupid comparison.
Not sure what you mean there, friend. I've been reading this thread.
If your research has TARP funded by taxes, then either you've got a link to share with us or your method of "research" involves making things up.

I see, you like to play possum.
Big box stores do not put people on public assistance -- government does. I don't have a particular opinion on big-box stores one way or the other, but let's not assign them powers they don't have.
Big government is the root of all our economic problems. Period. Our big government, not the Chinese. All of our economic problems are caused by the government and the Federal Reserve (which is actually the same thing).
Only when our government decides which companies and industries should receive protection will we have fair trade. The government will certainly offer this protection only to companies needing it and would never do it for political purposes. Unions and other special interests have no influence over what the government does.
If the state knows what's best for us when it comes to trade, why wouldn't it also know what's best for the entire economy? I mean, just think of all the good government could do if we'd simply trust them with the entire economy. Jobs and wealth would be everywhere and there would be no need for entitlement programs. What a world that would be!
Higher prices and greater regulation of business is what we need. The smart people understand that increased costs and more regulations will spur growth, create jobs, and make our economy the envy of the world. When it comes to trade, conservatives can trust government to do the right thing. Just look at the record......
Does Schafly believe we have a free trade agreement with China? Do you?
