CHANNING, Texas — A vehicle driven by Colorado state Sen. Suzanne Williams collided with another on a Texas highway, killing a pregnant woman from Amarillo, the Department of Public Safety said.
Williams, of Aurora, Colo., was treated at Northwest Texas Hospital and has been released, Trooper Gabriel Medrano said Monday.

D or R?
Article doesn’t say so she’s prob a D.
DEMOCRAT (D). I could tell by the fact that there was no party affiliation in the article.
Whenever its not noted, it means D.
A Dem but you wouldn’t discern that from the article.
Yeah, it's all about you, isn't it??? And she's a "D".
Channing is really isolated. There is a post office there and a couple of churches.
And that's the bigger vehicle. I'm surprised the fatality was in the Yukon, rather than one of the unbelted riders in the Honda.
>> “It’s a tragedy that I now have a personal experience with a highway accident,” <<
IOW, “Its all about her,” not the woman she killed.
Colorado State Sen. Suzanne Williams, D-Aurora, veered into oncoming traffic in Texas, and hit another vehicle, killing a pregnant woman, who was a distant relative of Colorado State Sen. Kevin Lundberg.
She is also the states leading mandatory seatbelt advocate...
Any cogent point to this story?
I noticed that also.
She is a ‘crat I had to look it up on the internet.
Funny how that insurance kickback doesn’t extend to the personal vehicle of this hypocrite.
Yeah, it's all about you, isn't it??? And she's a "D".
I pickup on that too. As I was reading the article, I wondered if she was a Democrat or Republican. When I read that line about a "personal experience" I knew right away that she was a Democrat: not one word about the woman she killed or the family.
No, but probably several ironies...
Life is fragile, temporary, and precious. Pay attention to your family and love them for at any moment they, or you are gone.
Seatbelts are required for the “proles”, not for the “elites”.
Yea, that's quite a tragedy for YOU, very traumatic.
How about the dead and wounded, or is it all about you Williams?
Posted EARLY this morning - Love what this FReeper added to the title!
If it was R the first thing you’d see before the name would be Republican. If D, good luck finding it.
Must have had a hair appointment or something....
Yes, heap abuse on a democrat.
From what I've read, it was an accident, no drunk or impaired driving mentioned. It could just as easily been a republican at the wheel.
It will all straighten out in the law suit that will follow.
That’ll teach that lady to try to bring a child into the world instead of having an abortion! Now there are two fewer riff-raff to suck up social security and burden the public schools! This legislator should get an award for being such a good democrat! /s
She is a democrat..If it had of been a republican it would be all over the country what party she is with..
She said she could not remember very much of the accident, must have had to much holiday cheer..No one but her was wearing a seat belt and she didn’t know why that is what she told highway patrol..
* Business, Labor & Technology, Vice-Chair
* Transportation, Vice-Chair
She's a Dem. and ironically the vice-chair of the transportation committee.
Yep, you are more likely to hit a tumbleweed than anything else in Channing.
Was she chatting on the phone or texting when the crash occurred?
It just gets better and better.
1) She’s a D... a typical D who loves to tell others what to do.
2) She led the charge for a CO law involving seat belts and allowing fines for those who do not buckle up.
3) Her kids were in her vehicle, and WERE NOT BUCKLED UP.
(Remember first rule of progressives... these rules are for you, not for me.)
She is sleaze...excrement, and soooooo represents the “progressive” slime of our world.
Its all ok though, cuz she has now had “the experience” of a traffic accident (never mind the dead mother).
We all know what that means.
She’s a Democrat. Rule of thumb...when the media “neglects” to mention the party of an evil doer, they are invariably Democrats.
She is also 1/4 Comanche.
If the woman is a hypocrite for driving an SUV after spouting off about the evils of same then let her record stand. But,, we shouldn't say she caused an accident because she is liberal. That brings us down to their level.
Talking/texting while driving, maybe?
Does that mean she collects free money from the casinos?
If this woman had not been killed, this would be a hate crime then.
There are no vehicle accidents save those caused by faulty equipment. And even then, someone is negligent for not spotting the fault. You need not have impairment for liability. Stupidity (texting, etc) work well.
Party affiliation is irrelevant. This is a tragedy, and to make it into something political is beneath us.
So sorry for the family of the mom who died, no matter how she voted.
If she has anything to do with seat-belt legislation come next year, she should be reminded to mind her own business ! She has no business passing stricter seat-belt laws that is imposed on Colorado drivers if she cannot even get her family members to buckle up !
Not only is she a democrat but also a school teacher. It seems that school teachers who are also democrats in any legislative body have a knack for wanting to play traffic cop. Thanks to her, she got a law passed banning radar/laser jammers.
I know she will be out of office after a couple of years due to term limits and it will be good riddance !
I just re-read every post above yours on this thread and pretty much all I could find was people noting, or reiterating, the following main points:
1) Party affiliation of democrats is seldom given when a ‘negative’ story about a democrat is published, but is usually prominently displayed when a similar story about a republican is published (an hypocrisy on the part of our news media)
2) The woman in question, a politician/law-maker who is a staunch supporter of mandatory seat-belt usage laws, was carrying passengers in her vehicle who reportedly were not wearing seatbelts (an apparent personal hypocrisy on the part of the politician)
3) The woman in question, who is claimed to be an ‘environmentalist’, was driving a large (one of the largest, actually) gas-guzzling SUV (another apparent personal hypocrisy on the part of the politician).
4) The public statements by this politician regarding the “accident” seem to be self-centered/self-serving, and do not appear to show any level of compassion for the person fatally injured in said accident (apparent selfishness/callousness on the part of the politician).
You are, of course, free to disagree with any of the points made, but assigning others a particular argument (one which they did NOT make) and then attacking/deriding them based on this assignment is not generally considered to be a valid method of argument.
I would ask that you please point out the particular posts which offended you, because I could not find a single comment in this thread in which a person claimed that this woman caused a traffic accident BECAUSE she is a liberal.
There are very few automobile accidents. There are A LOT of automobile crashes.
