“Who thinks he or she needs to go to the grocery store with a loaded firearm?”

Seriously?
Too stupid to even respond to.
Volunteer victims crack me up.

This woman doesn't realize. With or without a concealed carry permit, the "Wrong people" will always be armed.

The question is, are the rest of us allowed to be armed to defend ourselves? And even to defend our sorry, unarmed, liberal neighbors?

My problem with carrying concealed weapons is that the wrong people invariably carry them.

And the "wrong people" will continue to carry, regardless of any law.

We've had an article posted this morning about Mexico in which, despite some of the strictest gun control laws in the world, is in violent meltdown. How's them laws workin' out for ya?

This woman is an idiot.

I do Nancy. You see, as I told my child years ago, bad people don't respond to harsh language or guilt ridden hand wringing.

My problem is with people like her who want to decide who the “WRONG” people are.

Mrs. Retired Prosecutor doesn’t know that a felony conviction, as a general rule, prohibits the felon from possessing a firearm in most states (including hers. This is regardless of the flavor of the felony.) Or that a felony conviction would preclude a CCW permit?

Mrs. Retired Prosecutor doesn’t know much about the law. Sounds alot like the “If I don’t like it, it should be a crime!” crowd.

Rot is right!

Urban white liberals can't ever come right out and say they support gun control for everyone to lessen the chance the urban rap video rejects they have been paying off with welfare benefits will decide to use guns to rob and kill them, anyway. They back into it with statements like this, designed to suggest they fear white, mentally ill Vietnam veterans, or militias, or Sarah Palin supporters, or some other such vaguely threatening group. :)

Here's a few statistics for her from my home state of Texas. It's estimated that 2.5% of residents in Texas have a concealed carry permit (CCP). According to 2010 census figures, Texas now has 25.1 million residents. So that means around 627,500 permit holders. The number of 'firearm-related deaths' in Texas as of the last recording was 11 for every 10,000 residents, putting it 26th in the nation. That's any kind of death caused by a firearm. If what she contents is true, Texas should be swimming in blood, but we're not.

Go home and enjoy your four large paperweights. I'm going to the range.

Well, I do...see, I just can’t find the website where the robbers, terrorists and nut jobs post their calendars...

Remarkably strange argument she attempts to make.

Our criminal justice system and its records are not perfect in every way, therefore we should ignore them and go with the author’s gut sense of what reality actually is.

“Shall issue” laws or something similar have been passed, I believe, in a significant majority of the states. There is a massive body of empirical evidence of what happens to crime rates and other factors as a result.

Isn’t it odd that the opponents of CCW in the next state where it comes up never appeal to this body of evidence?

Well Nancy, there’s not a thing you can do about people carrying concealed weapons unless you pass legislation requiring everyone to walk about naked. And thugs don’t really care whether or not they have a CCW permit, that’s the least of their worries.

BTW, if your husband never takes those long guns out of the closet he won’t remain “highly skilled” for long.

The (real) problems with concealed carry:

Guns are rather heavy and sometimes awkward.
Sometimes it’s difficult to conceal the larger ones.
It’s impractical to conceal tactical 12-gauge shotguns or ARs.
Metal detectors tend to be a problem.
Government buildings, hospitals and airports are hostile environments.
In most states it’s illegal to carry in an establishment that serves alcohol.
Some law enforcement types get nervous when they find out you’re carrying.

Let’s see, that’s all that come to mind off the top of my head... =:-)

Unloaded-—we never fire them.

Lady- you are beyond stupid.

The day will come when you need a LOADED gun, which is ready to fire & has been kept maintained.

You are truly part of the problem—just as much as the active criminals are. You will never be part of the solution.

Good Luck in the coming Civil War II-—you won’t survive very long.

Which is another reason why so many perps are walking free with some sort of plea bargaining.

Again- she is a major part of the problem.

My problem with carrying concealed weapons is that the wrong people invariably carry them.

Violation of due process. Does this woman know all of the CHL holders? Has she investigated the individual integrity and weapons use of each person? Who are the "right people" to carry concealed weapons? Just because she said it was so, does that make it so?

What I am truly noticing these days is that a LOT of people think that something is so just because they SAID it was so. Young people think they will be successful at sports and at life because they said so. They tell me they won't work at certain jobs (i.e. fast food, manual labor, minimum wage, etc.) and actually believe they'll never do it because they said so.

I see more and more individuals who think they are "cool" simply because they say so. They tend to want to become violent if someone disagrees with them. This nation has some serious issues to resolve in the near future. Basically, before you say anything about anything, have some proof ready.

which my husband, a Vietnam veteran, is highly skilled in using. Happily, we never fire them... sit unloaded

Then they are just as useless as flower pots. Are you afraid of flower pots, too?

Wisconsinites, don't let this harpy's hoplophobia interfere with getting Constitutional carry in your state.

You have no idea how often I'm walking through a store and realize the bayonet on my Mosin 91/30 is peeking out from under my coat.
