Impoverished OSU football player struggling to make it on a football scholarship (free tuition, books) and $1600 per month stipend for living expenses. He also gets "loaner" vehicles. too.

Peanuts compared to Cam Newton...

“Earlier this month, ESPN.com and other news outlets reported that John Bond, a former Mississippi State quarterback, said he was approached by a former teammate on behalf of Cecil Newton, who was seeking $180,000 in exchange for sending his son there.”

Pryor should just claim that his dad got the cars without his knowledge. That’s apparently a perfectly acceptable excuse now.

So, he’s underpaid at OSU?

Not sure if he knows him. I think I read that his parents are divorced and he lives with a guardian?

This infraction will also be dealt with lightly by the NCAA.
There has been a pattern over the last 5-6 years of the NCAA punishing BCS AQ schools less harshly than non AQ schools. Case in point, New Mexico had a graduate assistant coach that helped 1 player cheat on exams. UNM found out about it, terminated the grad asst, kicked the player out of school and fined the entire coaching staff. The NCAA came in and and imposed 5 years of reduced scholarships for the football team that will not end until next season.
USC on the other hand bought a friggin house for Reggie Bush’s family, gave them cash and vehicles, and all USC got was one year of reduced scholarships, and 1 year of no post season games.
Auburn’s Cam Newton claims he knew nothing of his father shopping his services around for money to Mississippi St, Auburn, and Florida. The NCAA barely investigated the matter, and Newton went on to win the Hiesman, and Auburn will play Oregon in the BCS Champoinship game.
It goes on and on. BCS schools get a pass while non-BCS schools get hammered for little things that they self report.

I’ve shifted my interest from pro sports to college sports. With this kind of crap, maybe sports is just a waste of time.

On further reflection... Ohio sports is a waste of time!

I feel your pain, brownsfan.

I am a Browns and Tribe fan. It doesn’t get much worse than that. :)

Sure it does, throw in the Cavs, and you have a loser tri-fecta.

Very true. Thugs masquerading as “student-athletes.” There are a few that are truly student athletes but they are the exception at most BCS schools.

I figured you might say that. :)

I cannot stomach the NBA, so I don’t have to deal with the Cavs myself.

So far this guy Pryor is a saint. He hasnt beat on a girlfriend or killed a dog or person yet. But never fear, he has Vick, Ray Lewis, and Santonio Holmes to learn from. And many more.

Go off to college in a clunker and park it on a dealer’s lot and use a “loaner” the rest of the time. Sounds like someone is skirting the rules.

I am almost ashamed to say that I am an alum of TO$U. Moral equivalency aside, if Tressell, Smith the AD, and Gee the Pres, had any integrity, the Tat 5 would be kicked off of the team immediately. Then Gee should fire the coach and AD. Winning at the cost of integrity is wrong. Bring back Earl Bruce and his seven and eight win seasons. At least those wins would be earned, not cheated for.

In the cases of the Ohio State players and Cam Newton of Auburn the NCAA has sold it's soul for money and TV ratings.
Once upon a time the NCAA would have done what would be necessary, Suspend all of these players and mete out the appropriate punishment.
Sadly it's all sordid and the NCAA has compromised itself now and in the future.
