NORFOLK, Va. — The Navy officer who aired lewd videos for crew of an aircraft carrier was temporarily relieved of his command on Tuesday, NBC News has learned. A Navy announcement was expected during a news conference set for 2 p.m. ET.
Capt. Owen Honors commands the USS Enterprise, currently stationed in Norfolk, Va., and hosted the videos while he was second in command aboard the aircraft carrier.
Honors was relieved while the Navy investigates the incident.
Made in 2006 and 2007, the videos just came to light over the weekend and show the crew got an eyeful on shipboard TV: Gay slurs, suggestive shower scenes and mimicked masturbation.

So, who leaked the video? Why does this surface now? Was it the repeal of DA/DT?

Apparently the video itself was a reaction to the repeal of DADT. The officer in question was mimicking the new gayer navy.

It surfaced because the guy made it to the top spot and somebody obviously had it in for him. Probably a vengeful DADT type who feels more comfortable complaining now. I guarantee 90%+ of the crew that the videos were hilarious and increased morale.

And another career ruined. As someone that has always dreamed of a military career, and then to see a Top-Gun Commander of a USS aircraft carrier go down in flames is difficult.
Lewd videos?? Anyone seen a movie or TV lately. The sobs in homowood and the media have been showing lewd videos for decades. Guess they resent the competition. What a joke.
Then there was the Saturday morning I announced, over my NG unit’s radio network, that I indeed had the training films in my ambulance and they’d be available for viewing that evening.
I forget what I told the commander, but it must have been good, since they were, as you’d expect back in ‘77, all hardcore porn, and there wasn’t any blowback.

the problem with the current crop of so called conservatives ( and liberals ) is that they want their definition of morality applied to all individuals...the framers made it clear that to legislate morality would be the downfall of the republic ( this country is based upon a moral people. It will not work for any other ) this statement was not made because it was felt the government needed to tell people what was moral and what was not. It was made because the downfall of every great civilization known to man, began with the regulation of morality. what most people do not ( or will not ) see is that morality is subjective. What I consider immoral, is not to another person. That is why the regulation of morality leads to eventual downfall.
the current problems with today’s government:
abortion, although I do not agree with it, is not a federal issue. According to the constitution, it is a state’s rights issue.
the war on drugs... the constitution prohibits the raiding and searching of a home without a warrant. The conditions of said warrant are very clear. Why do homes get raided on the word of a drug user? Why are the occupants of homes illegally raided defined as law breakers? Why are tanks authorized against private homes?
Why do I have to explain my ownership of ANY firearm?
Why are my children forced to attend public indoctrination centers under penalty of arrest?
Why must I restrict how much money I donate to a political candidate?
Why do I need a lawyer to bring greivances against the federal govenment?
This is just the beginning...once you answer these questions, you can put yourself into one of 3 categories:
1) You are a liberal socialist communist, and believe the state must regulate what you say, think and feel.
2) You are a Social(ist) conservative, and believe the state must regulate what you say, think and feel.
3) You are tired of liberals and social(ist) conservatives telling you what you should say, think and feel, and belive that both aforementioned parties should be hanged by the neck until they are dead.

Couldn’t have been about Sarah Palin because she was not even on the scene in 2006-2007. For your information, Sarah Palin became famous due to Republican Presidential Nominee John McCain chose her as his running mate in 2008 for the Presidential Election in November of that year.
