Now we know why the Sheriff protested talk radio and conservative personalities so much right out of the gate.
he should just resign now, he is a quivering yellow Lilly livered waste of human flesh.

What did the Sheriff know? More than he saying.
To: tobyhill
The sheriff pretty admitted he was familiar with this kid and that he had made threats to others. The sheriff has some splainin to do.

I've never heard of a state "mental health authority."
Never.
Not once.
I wonder how one finds out who they are, as in the past when I"ve had friends who have called 911 for help from "crazies" they were told ALL they could do was go to court and issue a restraining order.
So, what's this about local "mental health authorities" being notified about untreated crazies????
To: tobyhill
OMG! He knew it? Who assessed the kid? Or did this sheriff take it upon himself to call him mentally ill without any qualifications to do so?
It works the other way around. The cops call in a professional to assess the inmate.
This is a really bad situation for this sheriff.

Looks like the Pima mental health folks are throwing the old sheriff under the bus...who can blame them. No one wants to touch this tarbaby...may well be why Dupnik is spinning all his tales trying to keep his foreknowledge from being an issue.

Short of having Law Enforcement monitoring social networks and private e-mail, I don't know how they should have been screening for this guy.
Then if LE takes action on a posting, what are the guidelines for action against someone with no priors? Judge ruling as if a property search? Nature of the target (i.e. prominence level)?
From the background of the guy it seems like the trifecta of anxiety-depression-agression with detachment from social acceptance. Of the million cases, how do we know which guy is going to pop? There are things said here on FR that could get the writer and the venue in trouble.

Now we know why the sheriff was acting strangely incoherent and nonprofessional. He is in a nine line bind on this.
Best thing for him to do is resign, don't think he can ride it out.

CPSA is the big dog down here for for mental health funding. They oversee everything from the mental health agencies to substance abuse and methadone clinics. They answer directly to the state and handle all appeals within the system.
Dupnik has really blown it on this one. But he's of the right party and outlook, so people will be digging holes and putting their heads in them all over town.

Fellow County employee.
Keep an eye on the possibility that there was special treatment.

Dollars to dough nuts this guy was a regular at the DailyKos and the other leftist rags. I don't know how to find out, but I suspect someone will.
