How many teenage black males living in government subsidized housing have been shot in the same time frame?
Somehow, I think it would be more appropriate to limit gun possession within 1,000 feet of the young black male! Oh, wait a minute, that would mean stopping and searching everyone in the inner city - RACIST.
Why does Rep King think he is so much more important than the black kid who is under the direct influence and protection of the federal government?
Good point. Let's make it 5000 feet.
I suppose that leaves only one logical alternative: Ban all citizens from coming within 1000’ of a lawmaker. (That was probably King’s first idea, but it would be a tough sell.)
Kind of like the alternative methods they use to criminalize smoking. (but, oh, we’ll make an exception for that one.)
“If I get a felony, I lose my job and license.”
“There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers.”

MAKE WAY! MAKE WAY! MAKE WAY FOR THE ONE WHO COMES! ON THY KNEES SERFS! LOOK NOT UPON THY MASTERS UPON PAIN OF DEATH! MAKE WAY FOR HE WHO COMES!
I have that book. And if I’m dinged with a felony where I lose my life, job, and family, I’m not going Galt. I’m going Henry Bowman.
They are all pussies.
If you’re planning on “going Bowman”,
make sure you get the identity of the offending officials before you drop out.
Harder to do AFTER.
They are doing everything they can to correct that situation.
Wilson Blair aka Dick Rogers. I’m not planning on going Bowman, obviously. (Sad I even have to say that these days). I would be lying however if I’m not concerned about more felonies being put on people that aren’t real felons in the old common law way ie Murder, Robbery, Rape, etc.
A few points. If he did fail a drug test, shouldn’t that info be passed along to prohibit him from purchasing a gun? I’m not for testing, but he opened the door and got himself on record with the Federal Gov’t as being a drug user. I don’t think anyone is ok with giving an active drug addict a gun.
In addition, I don’t think any politician has done enough to make people realize that Gov’r run health care means you have no privacy when it comes to your medical records.
Finally, the Virginia Tech case would be the “slippery slope” that was mentioned. A clear case of long term mental illness for the shooter. Your medical records are private. He gets his guns legally. That’s a slippery slope indeed and I’m sure one the courts will kick around eventually.
Someone play back that part of last Thursday's house business which took place directly after, ironically, Rep. Giffords spoke.
Don't get me wrong, though. While the Dems in the house are pulling their AWB II out of the archive right now and dusting it off, Republicans like King are going to be right there with them to (hopefully not) get it thru.
And you know what else? Don't be surprised if it turns out that the NRA (quietly, for the sake of compromise, mind you) looks the other way while they pull everyone in on it together, deciding who's gonna vote for it and who gets a pass. (Example: Dan Boren, Oklahoma 2nd District congresscritter and NRA Board Member.)
If it makes it thru the house, Reid will get it thru the Senate because 0bama will tell him to and we'll have another "assault weapon ban" - again, because they'll be looking for enough weasel Republicans like Snowe, Collins, et al to vote for cloture.
Then the NRA will have more marketing material and can raise more megabucks. Just as 0bama has been the best thing ever for firearms sales, a new gun control bill becoming law would be the best thing ever for the NRA. Better yet that if it succeeds it will be done by liberal Democrats and RINO Republicans. Thus they all really kinda work together to scratch each other's back - except now we're dealing with real Marxists who are also gonna mess with the internet, news outlets that give the opposition fair time and free speech in general. The stakes are high and people seem not to know it or to not care.
But the best chance of stopping it is in the house where frankly most (maybe not all) of the pro-gun votes that can be counted on are Republicans, and most (maybe not all) of the pro-gun votes that can't be counted on (IOW the Weatherby over-under pheasant gun types who will vote the way Nancy tells them to) are Democrats.
If a lawmaker is packin’ can he be within 1000’ of himself?
