Thrashing? You wish. LOL.

I stand by what I said, what the law is, and how it is applied. Its the truth of how it works. And you do not like that one bit? I can’t do anything about what you like or do not.And I do not really care a wit about that.As amatter of fact I care less than a wit about that. LOL.

Damn, you don't take your whipping with much grace, do you?

To listen to your earlier statements (on the spot), every warden shoots every dog he sees.

And yet, the warden I spoke to (and highly suggest you call) has NEVER shot a dog. In TEN years.

You have been shown to be a blustery paper tiger, with nothing to back it up other than more bluster.

Did you retire from The Howdy Doody Show, Mr. Bluster?

"And I really do not care a wit...." and "I care less than a wit..."

Got it....you are witless.

And you might just look up the word "whit". On second thought, don't. I'm sure you would come up with something that completely refutes Mr. Webster.

There is a darling Newfie in our neighborhood -- he is absolutely massive, maybe the biggest I've ever seen. He is a sweet, sweet thing but my goodness does he drool! My Labs love to play with him but they wind up sopping wet.

My oldest Lab Shelley as a puppy was occasionally baby-sat by my obedience trainer, who owned a certified water rescue Newfie named Kansas. Kansas was the 'protector' of all the little puppies. Shelley quickly discovered that she could tease all the older dogs, and then run to Kansas and hide under her belly hair, where nobody would bother her.

I've never met a Newfie that would 'bite a biscuit' as they say. Just big lovable goofs and absolute sweethearts. Any cop who would taze one and then shoot it in the gut a couple times with a rifle is a total idiot. Then he gets a "nice job" from his partner.

These are bad cops, no way around it. I hope they and their department get sued til their eyeballs rattle. And get shunned by the entire township. It's the only way to get their attention.

I picked one game warden, at random, from your area. He stated any warden with your interpretation of the regs would quickly lose his job.

Now you say I found the only warden in Vermont who does not do his job?

You are reminding me of Monty Python's Black Knight....."It's only a flesh wound".

Sorry....Game, Set, Match.

The only loser on here is you, pal. And YOU are the one loving a police state, so that makes YOU the liberal. And if you don’t want people minding your business, then don’t post on an open forum, genius. And I meant what I said about hoping you don’t have kids or pets, because anyone who gets off on peoples pets being killed is sadistic. And that’s not name calling, that’s TRUTH!

According to the reports the dog got out from a fenced yard. You have never had an animal get out of your care? Accidents never happen in your world? Wish I could live on your planet. BTW I'm a former state trooper and there are a number of cops I wouldn't let have a slingshot much less a gun. Too many Robo cops for my liking. Many act like little gods and should not be on any police force. I do not know the individuals involved but there is a mentality of shoot first that was not prevalently 25 years ago. Officers used much more common sense and were much more laid back than now. Not sure if it is just changed times but we took the job seriously and used our heads more than out weapons.

Yeah, I'm concerned about the militarization of law enforcement. Myself, if it were up to me, the police would still be using revolvers, perhaps have a shotgun in the squad car and maybe an M1903A3 Springfield for long distance in place of SWAT teams. I'm not much of a fan of even SWAT anymore since it is so militaristic. I'd like to see the return to the 1950's/1960's era type police force. I know some good cops but I think the toys we issues them today, it makes them see things more like a video game then dealing with real, live people.

I doubt you spoke to anyone. And if you did, you made sure to get the answer you wanted through misrepresentation of fact.Game wardens in Vermont have to kill dogs on a frequent basis, it is part of their job if they are field officers. Not killing a dog in ten years? He must have had others do it then, or you are lying.

You seem awfully pushy and anxious too , to say you are victorious when you do not even live here. Its quite a laugh. Are you under 5 feet and drive a Harley too? LOL.

I stand 100% behind what I said on this thread, and I know it from experience. You can call Saint Michael if you want as well as every game warden in the state ,and it won’t change my experience,or the way the I have seen the cited law applied here, whether you like it or not.LOL.

I happen to like it. Thats what gives you the problem, does it not? Well, do not bring your dog to Vermont if you have to have him running loose, or better still, never move here. You won’t like it.And you would be doing all Vermonters a favor too, no doubt.

Yes, game wardens have to shoot dogs as a matter of course here in Vermont, as you will read below. And I hope they all continue to do the good job they have been doing in making owners control their dogs.

********************************************

Deer Stories is a documentary series from Vermont Folklife Center Media that explores hunting from an insider’s point of view and is drawn from interviews with hunters from around Vermont. In this program retired Game Warden Stan Holmquist reflects on dogs as predators of deer.

Stanley Holmquist

People that have dogs, I’ve talked to a lot of ‘em that really hated me because I ended up shooting their dogs. There’s a thrill in the chase. You know, they were chasing for miles and a deer is a sprinter, where a dog covers a lot of land at a nice steady pace, but the deer will run as hard as he can for a short period, probably a quarter-mile and, you know, that’s in good, on good ground. If there’s snow involved he’ll get exhausted much faster. And a deer, being a wild animal, they’ll run until the blood vessels in their lung will just explode and you’ll find the deer with white—pink foam coming out of their mouth and you can’t save it. I had a lady, she had two of the most beautiful Goldens you ever saw and I told her: Don’t let ‘em loose because, you know, they’re gonna chase deer. And I caught her dogs with a deer in a brook. Brought the dogs home and I gave her a dog letter. Within three days, I think it was, they were out chasing again, so I gave her a citation to appear in court, but the dogs started running free again, so I says that’s it. And I shot two of the nicest Goldens you ever saw. And I took the dogs back home and I said, you know, I told her, “You’re responsible for this. Don’t blame me. You are responsible. You had all, had the warning.” And I tried to get her to go up and go look at the—you know, where the dog had killed the deer ‘cause, you know, they had it in a small park and there were pieces of deer hair and everything all over, blood everywhere. She wouldn’t go. She wouldn’t go. She didn’t want to see it. She had no idea there were even any deer around and she was living right in amongst them, you know. A lot of people, like city folks, they come up out of New York City or Newark, New Jersey, or places like that and they buy a second home here and, you know, they love to see the deer and they love to see the trees and all that stuff, but they just don’t—it’s more like Born Free, you know. But the deer, you know, they don’t have anybody to fend for ‘em, other than us, the Game Wardens. I went from being a hunter of deer to a protector. You know, I wouldn’t go out and shoot a deer for no money in the world. No, I wouldn’t even go out and shoot an injured one. I call the Game Warden, you know, and let him do it. I’ve had enough of that. So. I still respect, you know, that that deer is suffering and I can feel for it. And I feel for all of ‘em. On the cold days, you know, 10-below or stuff like that, I know just what they’re going through, you know? How they get down in the snow in the winter to keep warm. Oh, boy. That’s from being in the deer yards, finding their beds. And going from just being a hunter to a lover of deer, I guess is what you’d call it. It’s quite a switch. But I guess I fulfill my hunting ambition by hunting hunters. [LAUGHS.] And now, now I can look back on it all: I wouldn’t change a thing. I loved it all. So not many people can say that.

"I doubt you spoke to anyone."

Really? I gave you his name and number....in case you missed it, here it is again...

Dennis Amsden, Danville, VT (your county) 802-751-7695

I URGE you to call him, and tell him he is not doing his job.

Better yet, give me your name and number via FReepmail, and I assure you he will be anxious to call you. PLEASE, let's do it this way, it would warm the cockles of my heart to have you tell him he is a lying slacker.

As to your "Deer Stories"..I have no reason to doubt the tale. Mr. Amsden, if you recall from my earlier post, did say dogs were a problem 20 years ago, not so lately. Mr. Holmquist is retired, quite elderly to judge from his picture, and the story gives no date. So I simply can't argue that it's not gospel, but I can argue that it's surely not the case today.

I grew up in MI, have hunted deer for 50 years, and am familiar with deer-running dogs. They really aren't much of a threat to deer except in hard winters, when yarding up...this was also Mr. Amsden's opinion.

Oh PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let's get you and he together....I'd pay 5 bucks to listen in.

Buahahahahaha!

Yes, dogs were a problem 20 years ago. They still are.

And why not call him or a few more times? Run up your phone bill.

Game wardens have to shoot dogs. Its part of their job. He hadn't shot one in 10 years?

Yeah right.

In the light of the retired game wardens story, may I suggest that you might be just a bit skewed old boy?LOL.

And I know for a fact that dogs run deer here consistently if they are loose, whether they do in Michigan or not.And I know it is the game wardens job to catch them and shoot them if necessary.I have seen several of the dogs they have had to shoot when they stopped by and asked me who might own them. They do a good job.Its a matter of course for the job, like changing a flat tire. No warden could go without doing it over 10 years unless they had someone else handling it.

Maybe you had better watch the video Escanaba in da Moonlight and reacquaint yourself with the UFO theory of game warden work. It was filmed on the Upper peninsula of the state you purport to have hunted in.

I stand by what I say. Good luck to you and your 'whatever it is' that is causing your problem.

Look, bud. Responsible pet owners do, but dogs sometimes get loose.

These cops should be fired and sued into abject poverty and homelessness for what they did. What’s truly disgusting is you “Cops-can-do-no-wrong” JBT boot lickers that always show up in these threads to justify what some imbecile with a badge has done when he screwed the poochm (pun intended).

BTW, Mr Whodat....the Aints suck. There’s only one good team in America who wears Black and Gold.
