Democrats on Wednesday criticized House Speaker John Boehner for missing a memorial service in Arizona for the victims of Saturdays shooting in Tucson, as partisan sniping continued around the edges of the attack and its aftermath.
Boehner declined an invitation from President Obama to fly on Air Force One to Arizona for the memorial. Aides said he did so to attend a prayer service in Washington in remembrance of the six killed and 14 wounded. Among the wounded was Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, an Arizona Democrat who survived a point blank shot to the head.
The prayer service Boehner attended began at 1 p.m. on Wednesday and lasted for one hour. Obama departed Andrews Air Force base in Maryland a few minutes after 1 p.m.
But Democrats said Boehner could have attended the rally in Tucson if he had wanted to.
Dont you think they could have worked with the White House on timing to make sure he got on AF1?, a senior congressional aide said. Hell, as speaker, he could have taken a delegation to Arizona on military air.

Biden wasn’t there either, right?
Why would he want to attend a dem political rally?
Never let a crisis go to waste, and never miss an opportunity to manufacture a crisis.
Correctomundo.
Boehner’s not interested in making a spectacle, and had he come, he would have been accused of trying to upstage the President.
Boehner ought to remind them that this was not a memorial. Besides, Repubs get booed at democrat party rallies.
Pretty rotten thing the dims did to those families.
It WAS NOT a “memorial! It was a rally! It was a photo op for Democrat hack politicians.
If he had he would've been moved by Obama's call to come together & lower the tone.
Maybe he just didn’t want to be part of the Democratic pep rally which it became. I tuned in from time to time only to hear whistles and cheers as Dem’s spoke. Been to many memorial services and they’ve all been very somber. No cheering and whistling to be sure. Disgusting.
Dems are so petty and hypocritical. (If I were Boehner, I wouldn’t have wanted to get on a plane in close quarters with the Obozo, Pelousey, and that moron Holder, either. What a waste of time.) The dems are desperate to have a Republican like Boehner get “bipartisan” with the Obozo.
I am surprised Obama did not pass the plate.
I’m sorry to say I’m glad Boehner wasn’t there for the pep rally atmosphere.
The college president alone, eliciting cheers for Obama before and after a “memorial” speech, was disgusting.
He actually did a commercial about how bad the country was when Obama took over, and how “lucky” we are to have someone of Obama’s intelligence leading us.
That’s why we are in a depression. It’s not about real people, these victims or anybody else. It’s about running in circles chasing liberal myths.
And Boehner flies commercial. Had he accompanied a Democrat/totalitarian delegation, we would be hearing things about Boehner’s sell out or that Boehner did NOT fly commercial.
In fact, the judge is a martyr to the rule of US Consitutional law. The elderly who died are martyrs to free association and petition of grievances, as well as to sacrifice of self for family. Obama COULD have concentrated on that. He didn’t.
Oh Right!!!!
So they could boo him like they did Trent Lott at the Wellstone Memorial Rally?
The Libs last night on other sites were spreading the word that he was at a cocktail party instead.
If he HAD attended, they would have criticized him for that. Especially if he shed any tears.
Dem’d if you do, Dem’d if you don’t.
And they would have slammed him for being there. (((shrug))
I still don’t understand why Holder and Big Sis were there.
Not so much attending, but as speakers?
